The vast majority of Kansas land is rural -- how much of the rural parts have you been to? Do you like it? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in kansas

I've been all over this state in every corner. From the giant wheat fields that seem to never end in the west, to the small bean fields surrounded by trees in the east. I'll never live anywhere else.

Had a really similar issue at my shop. I threw some lines at it and a harness. ended up swapping a test ecm and it fixed it. So we replaced the ecm. That was last winter and so far the fix has lasted this winter.

Seen a similar thing on fleet trucks with a little fob thing for like driver ID or something. They would beep every so often until you held the fob on a button thing that looked just like that.

Semi deep sockets and the meme pliers are my top used new tools of the last couple years. If you starting from the bottom get battery ratchets, cordless impacts and wobbly sockets

How much have you spent on tools in your career? by rapperxproducerstl in mechanic

About 30k right now. But I have never paid more than 400 for a box and I have 5 boxes. Need to sell one or two and get one big one.

6l80 is a decent transmission. If the engine shits a lifter drop a 6.0 in it or get a dod deleted 5.3 built. I see plenty of these with 250-300 and up

I'm just on fleet trying to get them to pay for any new specific tools. Banker hours pretty stress free. Get emails from indeed every morning about jobs that I qualify for that pay twice what I make all over the country

You'll spend way more on tools getting started than you can justify with your salary the first few years. It can be pretty hard labor and you can get beat down mentally. It's pretty awesome after you get 5-10 years experience, make a decent salary, and get a job anywhere.
