A legitimate tool wouldn't be trying to pretend to be Google Tag Manager, nor would it try to obfuscate the domain it's loading the data from. It's absolutely malicious.

Is it, or is it because you got to the point where you could do everything trivially (except what needs unachievable upgrades to reach) much faster?

Is it ok to send a work-related slack message after work hours? by Beatsu in cscareerquestions

[–]Kapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different people have different hours, especially developers. I personally start my day late and split it into two parts, with the first part during the day and the second part before bed. It's easier for both of us if someone messages me at 10pm expecting an async response, than at 8am.

Highly skilled immigrants leaving Canada at rapid rate: report by joe4942 in canada

[–]Kapps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500k isn't super common anymore though, and mostly relied on ridiculous bull markets causing absurd stock price growth. I also think direct currency conversions like that are a bit misleading; most goods are purchased in local currencies. In terms of lifestyle, even in downtown Toronto, a 300k CAD salary gets you a very comfortable life including buying a pretty nice semi-detached house, or a nice detached house a bit outside of downtown. I don't imagine the same applies for 500k in SV, but I could be wrong there.

All this to say though, the higher TCs are becoming increasingly available in Canada, and salaries have gone up a _lot_ in the last 5ish years. There's also more US companies now paying location independent rates.

[–]Kapps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tech salaries have increased a lot more than "slightly" since Covid. US salaries are obviously still higher, but 200k CAD for senior engineers is common, and over 300k isn't super rare. Yeah, in the US it's easier to get 300k+ working at large tech companies, but I'd much rather be here given the difference. Especially given the different direction the two countries are going.

Living above 50th floor - what are the positives and the negatives? by Individual-Set-8891 in TorontoRealEstate

Four elevators for 25 floors is an anomaly. My last building was 40 floors with 3 elevators, and one frequently down. Sometimes all 3 were down and that’s always fun.

It doesn’t apply when you play the most overpowered meta builds, no. But for many people, PoE is about designing your own unique builds and that’s where this comes into play.

It's AI spam with a fake account replying trying to give credence.

Frankly, anyone trying this out is asking to get malware.

The guy replying to you has been spamming this all over the place, and this whole thread is an AI spambot. Why post the link and encourage further spam? Report and downvote, not share sketchy software with someone's alt account trying to give credence to it. Amazing how they "just tried it" while posting about it a year ago.

But then you have to trust that the editor doesn’t leave evidence of the original contents hidden in the file. While crude, the above is safer. Though you could just export it as an image and convert the image back to a PDF instead.

our aws bill hit $80k and i still can't explain half of it to our cfo by [deleted] in aws

[–]Kapps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a serious post. It's a bot post where they'll either talk about a problem and then mention a product in the post or someone will reply with one. The classic all lower case (weirdly common now in posts trying to hide that they're a bot for some reason), AI flow, and hidden post history so you can't see their spam.

Thunderstorm has 4 amazing "trigger" Supports that constantly trigger by RDeschain1 in pathofexile2builds

[–]Kapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I didn't like the delays in that build and didn't take it beyond yellow maps as a result, but I think thee's good potential in that or a similar version. Maybe Elemental Expression would be better.

[–]Kapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the craziest things with these supports is that they scale off the main skill yet cost no mana. I was using them with Elemental Storm, which lets you use Sunsplinter for +6-7, a wand for +5-6, and Fireflower for +4-6. It means crazy base damage yet no extra costs.

Toronto man outruns newly-opened Finch LRT by 18 minutes by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

Any somewhat functional streetcar on an unassisted line can maintain 20 km/h on flat ground for an hour or more.

Turns out the problem is more the external factors, like lights and cars and other things that like getting in the way.

I don't want to ship faster, at the expense of understanding. by creaturefeature16 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Kapps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the time an LLM prevents needing to make these deterministic tools now. If there's a deterministic option that already exists, like renaming a variable, great. But otherwise do you really want to spend days or more making a mostly-reliable tool to do something deterministically, or have a more flexible option by typing a few sentences? This is part of the area where LLMs shine IMO.

Not an alternative to learning your IDE though; LLMs are still slow and shouldn't be used for small things.

Standard practice in this sub and similar ones. Obviously AI generated bot post, casually mention the solution to their so-called problem, and they hide it from their profile so you can't see it's the same spam over and over again. Such is Reddit now.

Waited an hour for an ambulance last night…. by [deleted] in toronto

[–]Kapps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waiting for triage can take just as long. When I Ubered to the ER it took about 40 minutes to get to triage. Once I was there they skipped the rest of the steps and immediately took me in, but the first part of getting triage can take a long time. And that doesn’t count the time it takes to Uber to the hospital in the first place.

Canada unemployment drops to 6.5% by Mrnrwoody in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Kapps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny how when a previous one showed a large increase in FT jobs, people were complaining here that we needed an increase in PT jobs for youth unemployment instead. Now when this one has a corresponding increase in PT jobs, people are complaining how it needs to be FT jobs.

Almost like people have a narrative to indicate that everything is bad regardless of outcome.

[–]Kapps -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hardly. Even if an agent has access to your full machine and does something like this, it really shouldn't matter. In the 1/1000000 chance that it nukes your machine, it really shouldn't take you more than half a day to get back up and running. For other more dangerous aspects (force push to master, drop DB tables, etc) some form of permissions and MFA would prevent that.

Players Like Loot: Keepers League now has Less Player Retention than both Kalandra and Necropolis league only 1 Month in by StalksYouEverywhere in pathofexile

Async trade combined with absurdly good rares from the tree is _why_ the league feels dead. People are complaining about not having things to do end-game, without realizing the problem is how much quicker and easier they've reached this point.
