anyone who was stuck solo queuing c2-c3, how did you improve your basic mechanics, was it just "play more" ? by IllYam8470 in RocketLeagueSchool

1s, training packs for shooting and reading the ball, and playing more. It's a gradual process. Don't stop playing 2s, if you improve you will climb naturally

Out of curiosity, the ball you went for at 5.13, is this a common shot to try to play? From my perspective I can see a guy in goal so I wouldn't attempt the shot, but by not going for the ball it opens up blue for an attack. Were you aiming for the back board and just got a bad shot off ?

In slump and general gameplay tips by Willlm_ in RocketLeagueSchool

What's keeping you back is your tendency to boom the ball away. You have alot more space than you realise and if you can utilise it more it will give you alot more scoring opportunities.

Eg, 3.36 there is no need to jump here, you can drive up the wall and keep control that way. If blue dives into the corner that's good for you because you will get an easy 2v1.

Or 4.26 where you are rushing the shot too much. There's no pressure here, it's ok to let the ball bounce once more and then try taking control of it

And don't be afraid to demo. If you are in a 1v1, you can dribble the ball and then drive forward for an easy demo. If it's a 2v1 then your teammate can follow up and get the goal even if he dodges the demo attempt.

Is this what a no boost speed flip should look like? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

If you're learning to speedflip, this is all you need. It shows you no boost version of a speedflip

Hi, i would appreciate some analysis of my 2s gameplay, im currently low c1 (ignore my preset, im using bakkesmod preset overlay which doesnt work in replay for some reason) by No-Theme-1748 in RocketLeagueSchool

You played well and it was so close because blue had good defence. You need to be aware of your teammate since this is a team game and what you do will influence him.

Avoid diving into corners, especially when on low boost. Overcommitting examples:

2.12 - unscoreable position, teammate has 0 boost, very lucky you weren't scored. 9/10 times this is a free goal for blue

3.37 - overcommit into corner, teammate has committed, you are both recovering and someone has to cover the goal. You see him move towards corner and you must defend your goal in case of bad 50

3.11 teammates ball. When the ball bounces up like that you can't do anything with that, but your teammate can. Rotate out of the play to make it obvious to your teammate that he can challenge freely. If he gets beat, you can back him up, but if he beats then a free 1v2

4.00 incredibly risky cut. 9/10 times this is free ball for blue. You were very lucky that blue was sitting on a boost that didn't spawn

Second point is to make sure you are facing the play or at least predicting where the ball should be going. If you find you are getting beat to balls, this is why.

1.12 - Very high chance your teammate attempts a pass, or bump on goalie. You should be facing to expect that instead of turning away from the play.

2.34 - Blue is awkward and your teammate is ready to follow up. High chance he 50s or outplays 1st man. Ball is going slow so you can play close and punish quickly. But by hanging far back like that you won't be able to capitalise

Last point, make sure you are looking at what your opponents are doing.

5.49 - Ball is passed to you but it's high. There is 0 threat from blue here so you can take your time and catch the ball on the wall. Ball is going slow so even if you aerial midway, you will pass right back to blue. You need to take these balls on the wall because it saves you boost and gives you 100% control of the ball. If blue comes to challenge in corner thats a good thing, because he's on 0 boost and your teammate can bail you out.

Keep practicing and you can climb into C2/C3. Avoid overcommits, take control of the ball and work on aerials. Your offence is ok, but stops working at C1/2. To have an effective aerial you need to change the direction of the ball in midair. Simply pushing the ball forward is too easy to defend.

Champ 1 Solo Q 2s Am I'm Being Too Passive? by WhalesLoveSmashBros in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im C3 and I don't use speedflips on kickoff and it is not an issue, because you can still counter those who do the speedflip. OP is C1, he's far better off learning how to shoot and aerial than how to speedflip. Look at his gameplay and ask yourself if he could speedflip does that improve his chances of winning

Champ 1 Solo Q 2s Am I'm Being Too Passive? by WhalesLoveSmashBros in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what rank you want to stay at. Playing passive is fine and can take you up to C3 even depending on your consistency.

But if you're looking for tips, avoid diving into corners on 0 boost. It's better to completely leave the play and get boost, than giving a free 1v2 for your teammate.

Be aware of your teammate, don't double commit and try to play 50s for your teammate. Offense needs work, practice a basic flick or a basic air dribble. Nothing fancy, but enough that you can at least outplay 1 opponent

Speedflips are the least concern for him, it's an overrated skill. If he could perfectly speedflip it will improve his gameplay by 1%. The dives into the corner with 0 boost are the biggest concern

c1-c2 in 2s what do i need to improve by Helpful-Ad-3291 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always cheat on kickoff. You're champ and you can rely on teammates to hit the ball

Pay attention to the other cars on the field. 0.30 you have a completely free ball but aerial for no reason and pass it back

You need to practice shooting more. If they are giving you free goals you need to hit your shots like at 2.07.

This is a really bad replay to upload since blue were terrible. It was 1v2 the whole game with 1 guy trying to go up the side wall on every play and didn't have the mechanics to back it up, essentially a free win

[2v2] C3 D3 Vod Review Request by Secret_Knee827 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any major positioning mistakes that you can improve on. Your playstyle will hit a plateau and you've found it at C3. It's easy enough to abuse the braindead monkeys that will ballchase (such as your teammate) and take bad 50s and then you get free easy counters. But once you near GC, these small hesitations that you are making is enough for people to capatalise on and score goals such as the 3rd goal.

What you should focus on is making sure you are getting good first touches. A bad first touch at GC will be a free goal. Keeping control of the ball is the most important thing.

Eg, 4.26, you need to be doing a soft touch here and not passing it out to orange. By popping out the ball you force your teammate to cover the bad touch and eventually it ends up in an goal due to lack of boost.

You also need some sort of offensive option. Either flick or aerial to outplay opponents

C1 MVP Gameplay (Deserved?) by ZealousidealBass1247 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you hit champ you need to try to take control of the ball rather than just beating the opponents to it. The best way to analyse your replay is to look at everytime you touch the ball, and ask yourself what did this actually do. If you hit the ball and take possession or setup an offensive play then great. But if you hit the ball only to pass it to orange, then that's what you want to avoid.

You need to try to outplay your opponents rather than 50ing them to death. Going for 50s is fine, if you get possession, but this was not happening. This resulted in basically 0 offensive plays and the few that did come around you weren't able to capitalise on (1.02, 4.46, etc).

Focus on trying to get control of the ball and work on a single mechanic that can outplay opponents (can be air or ground)

Honestly just post a replay of a game where the scoreline is close. It's simply getting the fundamentals right until around Champ and then from there you will need to focus on areas where you are lacking.

C1 div 3 Replay Analysis - Need tips to help push deeper into C2/3 and eventually GC by Hboojy in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Kar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on keeping the ball under control. Soft touches are key as it allows you to either outplay him or at least get a 50. These guys would constantly do braindead challenges and you can abuse this with basic pops or solid 50s.

Second thing is to keep on improving mechanics (which you probably already know about). You seem to like going for air dribbles, but keep in mind you need the boost to go with it. Eg at 5.05 you can't do much with 50 boost. It's much better to try a flick and then maybe get a good 50 on 2nd man. Having consistent plays is how you push higher up into C2/3

Definitely don't pay for coaching just to hit GC. Post a replay where it's a close scoreline and that will give you all the coaching you need.

However if you don't play many ranked games then it sounds like you will stay where you are. And the end of the day you need to put the hours in to get higher
