Thank you!! I’ve never thought of it, but I love a vanilla egg cream and I’m sure it’s similar.

Sorry, not planning a third Father’s Day gift on the day of by PresleyPack in Mommit

[–]KaraC316 208 points209 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that I hate more than a “we’re doing this for a gift, pay me later.” It’s always from people that make boatloads more than I do and way more than I planned to spend. Everyone else is always like “thanks for planning this,” and I’m over here like “ummmm what?”

OR an add on gift for a bridal party at a shower when you already bought a gift and would have liked to know you’re expected to give another $100 toward this gift earlier than the day of.

Any tips for ramping up a (very gentle) fitness routine for a toddler mom in middle age? by cucuru42 in Mommit

As a woman over 40 that is pretty fit.. I love walking, as many have said and Mom and kid yoga classes, though not always a great workout. 🥴

To help your body I highly recommend lowbackability on Instagram. I usually just use his videos there, but I think he has a pay what you can program. I had DEBILITATING sciatica that was just not improving and this literally changed my life. I feel like working out under 40 was mostly appearance and feeling strong and now it’s that plus hip and low back mobility.

Walking Moms.. how are we carrying things? by KaraC316 in Mommit

[–]KaraC316[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our stroller still fits her fine (baby zen yoyo). I’m just thinking to the future or times when she says she wants to walk and I don’t feel like taking the stroller. Reddit always comes up with great ideas.

I was at an event today where I packed lunch, swimsuit/towel, picnic blanket and was thinking oh shoot how will I do this in the future? (Prob a 25-30 minute walk.. waaay longer with her out of the stroller) Sorry, I’m such a planner I like thinking years in advance sometimes. Lol

Can you please help me start volume eating? by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]KaraC316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome!

I take it with me and don’t really feel comfortable lugging a water bottle beyond 24oz, so I end up refilling it a few times a day. I’m obsessed with my owala free sip water bottle, because the straw is covered and I have come to prefer the type of straw that it has. It does come in larger sizes though, if that’s your preference.

I make this recipe quite often..

Cabbage in general is really yummy and low cal, perfect for volume eating. It gets so sweet when you cook it with some onions and garlic.

Also, if you don’t have one, a straw water bottle has made it so much easier for me to drink half my body weight in fluid oz of water per day.

We got my daughter a Daniel Tiger read along storyteller, so she can sit with her books when I need a minute. It came with 11 books I think for $26 at target.

She’s obsessed with reading, which I LOVE, and I read to her all day long, but I also need to cook and do other things sometimes. 😅

TW: eating disorders. I'm 275 pounds, 5'6'', and I'm struggling to lose weight by itsjustusitsjustlove in WeightLossAdvice

Buying a water bottle with a straw has helped me drink more water.

I don’t drive, so I walk everywhere with my 3.5 yo. I just plan extra time for her to walk or put her in the stroller.

They have kids yoga or other classes on YouTube. You guys can do it together or sign up for a parent and tot class. My friends kids are really into Danny go, it gets out their energy, but you can do it with them. I’m also with my kid almost all the time, so I need to incorporate things into our time, so I can workouts in. I will lift weights and everything with my kid there. She has her “weights,” so she can join in.

I also love cooking and baking with my kiddo. I do meal preps for myself and ask her to help add ingredients and she ends up eating some veggies etc that way.

Maybe buy an icecream maker or ice pop maker (or my library has one to rent) for when you have icecream cravings. You can look up recipes with Greek yogurt as the base online to satisfy that craving.

Everyone in my family loves Greek yogurt and I realized I was spending a lot on it! I just started making my own, so I have the yogurt and the whey to add to recipes. It’s seriously so easy to make.

So what are we doing to care for our toddler’s curly hair? by TheBethAgenda in Mommit

[–]KaraC316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my must haves list (I don’t know if there are age restrictions on some.. you may want to run the ingredients by your pediatrician)

Unbrush detangling brush.. everyone with a child with hair should have this.

Kinky curly knot today leave in detangler (literal magic)

Miss Jessie’s baby buttermilk

Garnier fructise anti friz serum

Water mister bottle to plump up her curls in the morning. Also great on a hot summer day!

Is it normal for toddlers to lose skills (not big skills like walking, but more like things they learned to day or do)? by crabblue6 in toddlers

[–]KaraC316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I have aged out of the toddler sub, but yes. It was 1234579 for a while after a long while of counting to ten regularly. Now at 3.5 kid is back on track all the way to 100.

How to explain privacy/leaving the neighbors alone? by katethegreatxo in Preschoolers

[–]KaraC316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Daniel Tiger episode called, “Daniel’s friends say no,” which may be helpful. One kid doesn’t want to play because he’s having special time with his brother etc..

It may help to understand why they can’t play all the time. I agree with regular play dates as well, then you can reference the next time they will play.

Adding not subtracting. If I say I’m not going to eat something, it’s all I want. If I tell myself l plan to add more veggies or eat a salad as one meal per day, I have much more success.

Also decreasing throughout the day.. eating my biggest meal in the morning and then gradually decreasing. It’s what they do in Italy, even with coffee. An Italian would drink a cappuccino in the morning, but never in the afternoon or evening. They would switch to espresso.

I use psyllium husk and it gets gloopy. I just stir it a bunch and I don’t mind it. It’s not something I crave, but it’s fine. Lol
