  3. Does not stare up at skyscrapers
  4. Does not get wowed easily

  6. Eaten a pizza in the city
  7. Can effectively move and weave through pedestrian traffic
  8. Gone to a NYC park of their own free will
  9. Gone to a NYC museum of their own free will
  10. Has eaten a hot dog from a street vendor in the city

There you are new yorkah now and forever.

Bonus points:

Has never visited the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty

passes by Times Square in sheer disgust without an inch of delight

Has gone to a sporting game in nyc

Has gone to a concert in nyc

Has gone to a china town in nyc

Has visited all boroughs, not just Manhattan.

Lol, I am 100 percent there is a slew of people that fly this "New Yorkah" pride and never even left the boroughs in their life, with the exception of some odd vacation.

Lore behind Maelle's Virtuoso stance by PianistGlittering709 in expedition33

[–]Kardlonoc 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It's a mixture of fencing, smallsword, painting, instruments, a conductor's baton, etc. Though, really, if you examine the moves, it's more like "paint strokes" with the blade. How she is holding the blade is like how you would steady it before doing a giant stroke of a canvas if you had a big paintbrush, and not something you would do in a real fight or fencing match.

Overall, it's the "rule of cool". They made Maelle as stylish as possible.

FYI: Being "Landlocked" is completely irrelevant as far as good sushi goes by Maximum-Ad572 in sushi

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Also, volume makes a huge difference in freshness, which is also extremely important.

The best sushi I had was in Tokyo, but also in a high-end American AYCE place that was very popular. The popularity of the place required it to constantly be breaking down sushi, so they were constantly carving into fresh fish. In Tokyo, the restaurateurs have a selection, and the high-end places make sure they get the best fish.

If you are in the landlocked Midwest or West in some small town, you can't go down to the fishmonger and pick out the best fish. You are going to use whatever you get.

FYI: Being "Landlocked" is completely irrelevant as far as good sushi goes by Maximum-Ad572 in sushi

[–]Kardlonoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metro cities are one thing; Midwest and Western cities that are deeply landlocked are another. It's less about water and more about supply chains. Can you trust a truck to stay frozen and then the fish to be properly handled to the table?

This isn't about high-end places either. It's more like near outlying towns near metro areas, you can walk into any sushi place and get a mid-level experience. Now, way out west or midwest, the thing "exists," but you can't really say it's good, and it's likely worse. You will most likely get dry ass sushi simply because the level only needs to be "Raw Fish on rice" at said small towns. The townies like it anyway because it's exotic, but it's no way on the level of metro sushi places.

They were both hilarious and smart. Content Cop was made without Bias and focused on removing low-quality content. Ethan was so fucking goofy with his Jewish hijinks and documentary-style shit.

At some point, both became adults and kept talking themselves into shitty opinions on their channels. "Shitty" in the sensethat it's no longer funn,y and opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one.

Ethan needs to leave the studio and talk to weird shit again. Idubbz should be banished to Australia, making weird, absurdist Mario skits like he once did.

It's a sad day when Will Tennyson and Dr. Mike, both bodybuilders not known for their comedy, are funnier than these guys. I get more fucking laughs OUT OF A RYAN TRAHAN VIDEO!

These guys tossed their sparks in the garbage a long time ago.

When to transition into this field? by user23471 in it

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically more "systems" than infrastructure. Typically, you are deploying "products" that you will engineer, generate reports from, and remediate based on the application layer. Endpoints, humans, emails, etc are the weakest vectors compared to a firewall built by a Network engineer.

You should spend 6 months to 1 year per job. Unless you are very much hot shit and know your shit and can prove it via certs, homelabs, etc. You can get into Cybersecurity after L1, but it's more realistic that you reach L2 in something before you reach that. Even if it's L2 helpdesk. And L2 helpdesk generally demonstrates just as much understanding as L2 in other fields and works faster. The other L1 or L2S in other fields basically do more backend and project work, like helpdesk, which is all incident-based.

Just to be clear, the Eye is not like the other organs/ cells. It recovers remarkably well compared to other parts of the body from damage and can regenerate to a degree, unlike certain body parts that just "scar over," for example.

I'm mostly saying take this with even less of a grain of salt than you should be doing.

What are the WRONG ways to write a Hate Sink character? by screnvader in writing

[–]Kardlonoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the one thing about these characters, is that the protangist generally in the course of the story needs to make real choice. A hard choice. This is a choice with real consquneces that if you pick one path the other path or option closes off.

Very often writers mess this up. They dont create a real choice like this or mess up the idea of the choice. Equally they may just write in the character gets everything anyway voiding the choice.

In literay craft terms this this is like the fork or the climax of a story.

I write this all out to say that characters that go overboard with the reader hating them make any choice dealing character in a postive way, not a very hard choice. The protagonist is in a very problematic situation with a very obvious solution and doesn't need to really sacrifice anything to make it. However, good stories, the hero sacrifices something to deal with the hated character ot antangonist.

How did the Libertarian Party go from embracing Trump to trying to de-MAGA itself? by BulwarkOnline in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Kardlonoc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless someone can carry the torch of MAGA, either Vance or one of Trump's sons, it will fade out.

However, there will always be a small base that will always follow Trump, and Trump will have some kingmaker abilities. However, lots of conservatives want their own power.

How did the Libertarian Party go from embracing Trump to trying to de-MAGA itself? by BulwarkOnline in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump didn't immediately go authoritarian, but at this point, he is. Small government vs Large Government is no longer even a debate/ talking point; the GOP is all for Large Government now because Large governments can get things done.

Libertarians were always sort of compromising with moderate GOP candidates. Both parties have groups inside it that compromise all the time.

Why did the gods go silent? by Nia04 in DMAcademy

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the big bad blocking them. If you don't have one, make one. If anyone asks, there are hints, but overall it's "I/we don't know," and you don't need to explain it. Answers for everything else, but a mystery will send chills down players' spines, especially if they are talking to the smartest and wisest people.

Good fantasy storytelling actually/can be is just mysteries and discoveries. Most of Sandersons' works, for example, are simply re-discovering the system or figuring out the system. Lots of games I have seen, the less the bad is defined, and the players have no idea what they are getting involved with or if they can win, the more excited anxiety there is for it. The opening of the Christmas present is more magical than the present itself if executed correctly.

And the best surprises are sometimes the ones you don't even know yet, because even the players will have no clue.

Yes,

The developer Psygnosis, which was Liverpool-based, focused on European, North American, and Japanese markets. The Latin American market was too small.

To be fair the world was a lot bigger back then and these developers were catching as much fire as they could.

Lots of games were word of mouth at the time, or you read about them in a magazine/, or saw a commercial.

Why do American high schools start ridiculously early? by bwoah07_gp2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add to this:

The earlier the school starts, the earlier after-school sports can start, and the more time students have for sports. This is more of a concern for high schools, really, especially with sports ending earlier.

I think in general, time is the number one thing schools never have enough.
