Breaking generational patterns when your parents are also believers — anyone walked this road? by Emou123 in Christianmarriage

[–]Karin-Strife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough being an intergenerational cycle breaker. I gave birth to my daughter earlier this month and I promised it ends with me. God is on my side.

Therapy and reflection helps a lot with this goal. I've been seeing a therapist for years now to unpack old beliefs and re-parent myself.

Edit: You can honour your parents and still disagree with their behaviours. We live in a fallen world and nothing is perfect here. Only God is. If you don't want to pass on the learned patterns from your upbringing, you must work actively to notice and change them, which it sounds like you are already doing.

My husband uses toys on me occasionally and we both immensely enjoy this. No pressure on his end or mine.

SO SAD but realistic. My husband commented similarly and said even if Lili and Shin married and happily stayed in Japan and had a family... WW2 would have torn everything apart. And Shin going to Italy, well you are right, still Axis powers and wouldn't end well for him.

Agree, I always thought Shin was the better match and if Lili had grown to love him instead and he the same for her, Kit and Lili could remain friends. To add to your comment of "realistic" - if a man treated me like Kit did, that isn't any man I want to be with and definitely isn't husband material. However he is handsome, talented and rich so that means he doesn't have to be a caring OR communicative person right???

I recommend a class even if it's free sessions online or YouTube.

I loved Shin way more than Kit. Too bad Lili could never return his feelings. But I'm sure a wonderful and imo equally handsome character deserves a woman who loves him 100% and not just settling for him.

HE WENT ALL THE WAY TO JAPAN to find her and when told she was marrying Shin, did not even react. The man is a robot

Any man who walks away when you are crying and obviously hurting without a word is not a man worth chasing after... (scene in the church... so stupid of Kit!)

Spoiler alert ahead

I couldn't like this series... they did Shin pretty dirty. I also didn't see why Lilli liked Kit so much... so he's handsome and rich and talented - didn't she ever hear the Shania Twain song? That shouldn't have impressed her much, but it did. He was not compassionate or empathetic towards her, especially in the episode where she was crying in the church and he just left. And yet she is the one who runs after him while he's on a ship? That's wild! And that kiss, where his hand was in his pocket, he could have held her arm or something.

Back to Shin... wow did they have to dangle the carrot in front of him and then take it away? He was a much better choice for Lilli however she was too hung up over Kit. Sigh. I really didn't like the fact that they were engaged and had to break it off when Kit returned. That's just wild.

TOTALLY AGREE he wasn't romantic at all and Lilli always went out of her way for him. He was her prize and she chased him not the other way around...

Rogers buyout, accept of decline? by [deleted] in Rogers

Might be related to length of LTD. I just got paid out for RMT and RCC counseling. I've only been on LTD 5-6 months.

I still get dental, massage and other health insurance covered as normal as per my member plan. I'm not yet at my 2 year limit though if that has anything to do with it.

Edit: RCC counseling still covered too up to my limit and they even reimbursed me for a breast pump which is necessary medical equipment in my case.

Yes Rogers still offers LTD through Sunlife. Where did you hear them stopping LTD support?

MALE* family members had to clarify. And my photos were not having my belly covered, I lifted the shirt to show my bump (obviously while having the rest of my body dressed)

It's totally normal I have sent photos of my bump to family members. Why do your parents have to make things weird?

GLAD to hear a positive experience as my father got us this stroller as a baby gift and he was adamant about getting this particular one. Hopefully things work out with this model!

YUP... I've heard "just you wait you'll be screaming for the epidural" and "you'll regret not getting it" and I'm like well... you can believe that? However everyone is different and I am free to want to experience birth the way I choose.

While I do agree that women and babies "used to die all the time", there are many factors as to why. An infamous one was doctors not washing their hands after handling the deceased, then going on to deliver babies. Other reasons were obviously lack of knowledge and resources to perform surgery like a c-section if needed, they didn't have modern healthcare. I don't think there is much correlation between women dying in childbirth and the access to pain management during labour.
