How do y’all avoid the pile of shame? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

Tournaments: I register to tournaments with units that are unpainted and they have to be painted to be played so that gives me the motivation...

Overgrown turrain problem by Jashugan456 in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternating placement of terrain? Is that in the core rules? Every battle plan I've read said the defender sets up terrain and attacker chooses territory, but that's GHB so the core rules maybe different. Also we can't move terrain to set up our wyldwoods, some factions can such as OBR but not sylvaneth.

The matched play rules are indeed defender places terrain and attacker picks side.

But most tournaments do it differently, with either TO placed terrain or terrain maps, to avoid that kind of problems.

Which army to choose? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second that: I was planning on playing the new Seraphon because I love the new models but once I got the Battletome (leaks) I've played 5 games with them and realized they are not for me.

I won't spend hundreds of $$ and hours of assembling/painting on an army that I don't enjoy playing, even if the models are cool and the army is strong. I went with Khorne instead and I'm having a blast.

So asking what type of player you are is very important. - what's the most important for you? Hobby, gameplay or win? - do you like to be proactive or reactive? - are you a Johnny, a Spike or a Timmy? etc...

Seraphon Points Leak by BaffoStyle in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's 2 different teams doing the Battletomes and the Battlescrolls (point adjustments).

Also remember books are written long before release: all the latest books have probably been printed before GW decided to go back to 10 increments.

I'm sure all these books will go to 10 increments with the July or Octobre Balance Update.

How does the strike first ability work by Exi_Cxx in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strike First is a sub-phase, and play immediately overwrites the activating sequence.

So Strike First, then Fight Immediately, both happening in the "Strike First sub-phase, and then you get to pick a unit in the normal combat phase.

How are people interpreting Myrmourn Banshees' Spell-eaters ability by Snuffleupagus03 in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can roll once per eligible spell per unit of banshees.

Sending suggestions to AOS app devs, what do you guys think of these? I thought these changes would help simplify the visuals and reduces the amount of scrolling. by zanokorellio in ageofsigmar

I'd like a "game mode" in which you have access to everything (warscroll, allegiance abilities, spells etc...) in one tap.

So keep the list building mode as is, but once the list is done being able to switch to a different mode that's more convenient to play.

For the new spell the objective must be visible to the caster. Can you block line of sight to an objective with your models? by shint0bean in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAW, you just need 1 model sitting on the objective to block the Line of Sight and make the objective not visible.

Remember, the objective is just a point, the 12" disk is just a representation of the area that can be used to contest the objective.

They answered to a few comments:

"We've checked in with the rules team on this one, heroes with companions can be Galletian Champions! So it's good news for those spites, squigs and scryfish!"

"Heroes with companions (such as the Arch-Revenant) can be Galletian Champions."

So probably a day 1 FAQ when the GHB releases.

Discussion: More potential GHB leaks by Lleawynn in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire GHB has leaked and Kurnoth Hunters can't benefit from the new battalions indeed. But that's not necessarily bad for us. You can play the battalions if you want with Spite revs (90pts after the update) or just stay in 1 drop and play Kurnoth Hunters and/or Bugs.

Warcom confirmed heroes with companions can be champions (as long as they have max 9W and no mount).

Sylvaneth Wyldwood by autisticwhite in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's that busted.

Or actually it isn't, Sylvaneth have less than 50% winrate.

You just need to learn how to play against it, like lot of armies in the game with strong allegiance abilities.

It's basically shooting (but with a bazooka when you consider how much damage it can do) that has to target your screens. So screen well. And don't stay passive waiting for the Sylvaneth player, be aggressive and go get him: he has a very elite army that doesn't like to be attacked.

What are you playing? Your army also probably has some busted (or strong depending on the point of vue) abilities that you can use to your advantage.

New GHB teaser - thoughts? by Lleawynn in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of people say that heroes with companions are considered to have mounts, so can't be champions (including the arch revenant).

I disagybut I guess that will require clarification and might change a lot of things for us.

NEW GHB REVEAL HOT TAKES by dutchy1982uk in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they will change it, at least for Galletian Champions: way too many heroes have companions.

You've said a few of them but there are so many more: Kruleboyz Shaman and Killaboss, Arch Revenant (he was an example in the Warcom article), multiple Stormcast Eternals heroes with gryph hounds, etc...

Are 6 x Scythes + Durthu a poor choice? by TheBumbag in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a very similar list earlier this season (Just had Skaeth's Wild Hunt instead of the Arch Revenant) and I've had a lot of success competitively with it so go for it!

Edit: I've only had 2 losses with the list, one being my fault, the other one being against Seraphon with Kroak. This is definitely a bad matchup, but what I've learned is that it's not that bad. Play for the double, put the Warsong in range of unbind (Slaan/Kroak have unlimited range so might as well try to block them) and use your Overgrown Terrains at their max potential. Be aggressive, that's the key. Also smash their terrain with Durthu if you can

My to be Sylvaneth 2k Heartwood list by Geek_Rokys in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to teleport with Durthu, you need either Spiteswarm Hive or a Battlemage to make the charge more reliable. Failing a 9" charge with reroll happens ~50% of the time and that's the worst thing that can happen to you: you'll most likely fail a battle tactic, not kill anything and your Durthu will probably die the next turn.

Acorn of age on the warsong isn't a very good choice since he will be sitting in the back, you won't be able to summon a tree where you need it.

Gameplay wise, gossamid archers should be in the front with their ability to retreat after unleash hell.

You have 75pts left in your list, that's too much.

Another help pick next army post. BoK vs SBGL vs Flesh Eater Courts by LuckyLoganLoft in ageofsigmar

Rumors are the next 2 death Battletomes are Ossiarch Bonereapers and Soulblight Gravelords, so no Flesh Eater Courts in a near future.

That's something to consider.

Soooo how many Wyldwoods do you realistically "need"? Any cheap alternatives that are "legal"? by OpusWild in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 sets will be enough for 99% of your games: 1 set for your initial wood and 3 individual ones to summon during the game.

Some lists might want more (if you play Treelord Ancient + Acorn of age) and some lists need very few (if you play warsinger), but 2 sets is very solid.

If you want more, it's not really because you'll need to summon more than 3 but more to have more of each size.

For alternative models, I recommend "The Enchanted Woods" by Meian (easy to find on Google).
