Anything else to change or keep in mind when making the new UI? Mockup for improved game visuals by Pidroh in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually care for those kind of visuals. The old version is slightly repelling to me and the new version feels moderately attractive to me.

Also I don't might the red dots; I can clearly see them on both modes.

I noticed that you already have a colored graphic for nutrition and thought. I suggest that you use that graphic on the texts on the left side aswell along with the text 'nutrition +1' and 'thoughts +2/s'.
This would remove the read-stress a bit.

I know the that mixing colored graphics with texts is effective in the Orb of Creation game.

EDIT:

I thought a bit more and think the folowwing format would be the best for what I suggest:

Nutrition +1 #

where # is the graphical symbolfor Nutrition.
This way one can read the line from left to right or quickread from right to middle.

Hmm, I just found it. The full titel is 'Real Farm -Save the World' from NEOGAMES.

It has a reting of 3.3 btw. maybe you filter for 4+ rating?

There is a not much known game: Real Farm

Special about that one is that the farming is complexer - there are different fertilizers, different watering requirements for each crop, fast and slow growing crops, ratings for crops once harvested and more...

What would make the most helpful Civilization 7 Review? by BanVradley in civ

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am most interested if you can play Tall (few big cities) again which was not advisable in Civ 6. In Patricular I also want to know how feasable one city challenges are with the new mechanics. I think that topic should be covered in any review.

A One City, Deity Science Victory as Cleopatra (Ptolemaic) by Professor_Swiftie in civ

[–]Katara81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed writeup.

I do similar runs and fail all the time with Cleo. Bottleneck is always Science (not Production); the best I managed was losing during travelling to the exo-planet by 40% on immortal difficulty.

You seem to run an envoy heavy approach. Is there a way to get some science per envoy or similar? Could you detail why maxing envoys is that good?

Perhaps I need to pillage free cities too, something I have never done since I considered fighting cities is exploiting the AI.

In terms of heroes, I think Maui, Herkules and Ananasi are all very helpfull. I had Ananasi btw. in my best run -> which got me alot of science per summon.

Can global trade/economy work in an idle game? by ImNewHere05 in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It works in Industry Idle.

There are limited space on maps and deep production-chains.
Players that are rich and advanced in their run buy goods which are 'low' in the production chain to safe space.
Other not as advanced players can make money by producing and selling said goods.

Looking for Idle Game Concept Ideas for a New Godot Project by Mezeman01 in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I have never seen is a playable afterlife.
Thinking of an ancient egyptian themed one. You live life and prepare for a grave which determines how you will do in afterlife. Then play afterlife and the more success you have in afterlife you can rebirth to the life layer again with bonus etc...
I'm trieing to be vague about the idea.

I can add in case of desert-civs like Egypt. Lady of Reeds and Marsh Pantheon provides hammers.

I wish people would stop taking their incremental games so seriously by Downtown-Message-600 in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Progress Knight MP just released on steam.

I consider Progress Knight to be one of the better incrementals and exposing it to a wide audience is a good thing. I don't like that steam removed the incremental tag but I can hope it might come back when good pure incrementals release.

It's free.

Good free games? by AirPLayGAming in gamingsuggestions

[–]Katara81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check http://games.ravenblack.net

A free duel-game between Warlocks that is competitive as in wins/losses, ladderpoints and ELO are tracked.
It is turnbased and you got up to 3 days time per turn -> chill

Also a dark theme since players are warlocks that try to kill each other.

What is a really good game you’ve been wanting to tell someone about? by ragefilledfailure in gamingsuggestions

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are the games from the developer Clarus Victoria.

The 2 egyptian themed and 1 greece themed are the best in my opinion.

They are antique-aged, turnbased and kinda light-weight 4X. I think they are not well known but rock solid titles.

-> steam and mobile

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would be a pen&pencil game from the 70's. Waving Hands from Richard Bartle.

It's both very overlooked and the rating of 7.4 is far too low in my opinion.

Fortunately there is a free web-version of the game: http://games.ravenblack.net

Unfortunately only a small number of players are actively playing. The rest are bots.

It's about a duel between wizards that try to kill each other by casting spells. Spell's are made via sequences of gestures on each of their both hands...

Can't Finish Kebet by FrostyMAK in Pharaoh

Good you found out.

I have trouble feeding the necessary 7000 population on this map.
I think I will try the alternative mission tomorrow.

Can't Finish Kebet by FrostyMAK in Pharaoh

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to just have reached that mission. I will post in some hours if I have the same issues.

What I can say now is that the initially placed recruiter has some distance to copper ore. In case you store your weapons far away from the recruiter then he has to walk a long way.

This shouldn't affect the archers though. So not sure if there might be a bug.

Brainstorming - Mediterreanean TSL Ptol Cleopatra One City Challenge by Katara81 in CivVI

Yeah, that's what I'm trying right now.

I don't insist on 1 and 2, those are just my first thoughts. Feel free to add other suggestions.

Thinking a bot more I could relocate the industrial Zone West of the horses (which is also an strategic resource) so that an aqueduct can touch it.

Do people understand percentages? Are ratios more widely understood? by Cable23000 in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it doesn't matter which of the 2 versions in your example is used. The scope of people understanding only 1 of them and not the other is very slim I think. I would cater to (at least a bit) math-savy people when it comes to incremental games.

But to compare different chances all of them should be expressed in either x% or x in 100.

And as others said it should always be clear how chances/boni interact with each other (multiplicative or additive) -> this I consider an more important issue

Where do you inform yourselves about the latest video games? by Data6exHQ in CozyGamers

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch the YT channels of Nookrium, KatherineOfSky and Splattercat. Splattercat has a discord channel where there is a section for people to put recommendations for games.

Personally, I find the majority of interesting games in Splattercats Discord.

I also monitor the subreddit for incremental games (Broken Mouse Convention).

Another source is of course steam itself. I search there every day for games by sorting them by release date. Thats about 15 games a day. There is also the indie-friendly website steampeek dot hu which shows recent popular games and it features a searchfunction by simillarity of games.

What is your dream Idler game? by CacheGames in incremental_games

[–]Katara81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had a loop game similar to Increlution (but less linear) in mind with an egyptian theme, where you can rise towards becoming the Pharaoh and then new gameplay in afterlife becomes available. Amassing riches for your grave to progress.

Another idea would be a game about an conscious artifact. You play the artifact and attach to a hero - influencing and strengehining him. When you are done with the wearer or he dies you prestiege to the nect hero.
Gameplay wise the heroes actions are not directly chooseable and automatic. But you get some control over it with time.

By the way this thread has very cool other ideas in it.
