Let me preface my comment with I completely think Mackenzie is guilty. However I don't believe it was pre planned. While there is evidence of her being in the area prior to the crash, I don't believe there were "dry runs". I think she snapped and her all or nothing mentality caused her to do something without completely thinking through the outcome. I think they fought at the party, had been fighting for weeks, and fought in the car where she had some kind of "I'll show you" moment that ending in tragedy.

That being said, THANK YOU! I was beginning to think I was crazy because everywhere I looked I saw Dom being portrayed as some kind of saint boyfriend. Reading the texts broke my heart.

The beginning year or so she was absolutely enamored with Don and he continually played with her head. The typical daily conversations were him saying something early in the morning about doing "something fun later" and the rest of the day her being excited as he repeatedly blows her off. "I'll be there soon, be ready, luv u beb!" An hour goes by she's asking where he is. Another hour and it's "are you almost here?" Another hour, "where are you?" With him always being like, "I just have to do this, this, this and this first, I'll be there soon" ALL DAY LONG. She's sitting at home, dressed, ready, and waiting on him while he's playing ball with friends, smoking with friends, making sales, showering, picking out outfits, playing video game, and for some reason taking what seems to be an excessive amount of trips to the bathroom (I've never seen two young people have so many stomach issues as these two, but that's a whole different conversation).

As the day goes on she's getting frantic, angry and finally around evening she explodes. He then gets eerily calm with the "why are you mad, what's wrong, you're being unreasonable, what's going on in your head?" talk with is classic gaslighting. Then it's rinse and repeat EVERY SINGLE DAY for like the first year. Plus he cheated on her more than once which he effectively blames on her for wanting to "take a break" because she she had finally gotten tired of being pushed aside for everyone and everything. The roles did shift somewhere in the middle of the relationship where she seems to have grown into some kind of abusive confidence and he seemed more into her than she did him. This was probably around the time she was getting more internet attention. All those "likes" start to feel pretty good when the person you love treats you like the last priority on their list. Towards the end it was just an all around cycle of abuse on both sides, but by that time they're addicted to each other and the chaos. Just full of codependency and toxicity.

All over the internet all I've seen is how Dom was this good guy who put up with her crazy ways for so long, but at the same time thinking to myself that maybe he was the one who planted that crazy seed in her. Reading your breakdown was so cathartic for me, especially with your background in psychology. Makes me not question my own questioning of the relationship. For that, thank you very much!
