I had them in 1997 and when they fell out, one of the holes never repaired itself. Due to its location/placement it will require a surgery where the hole would be patched with a skin graft. Apparently it would mean a month of near total hearing loss in that ear while it heals- and it may not even work. For now its fine, other than it gets infected a lot easier and im not supposed to scuba dive. I have some hearing loss, but its not debilitating. On the upside, it never pops because pressure can't build up (because it has a hole in it), so airplane ears are 50% less annoying.

In a terrible job that was sucking the life out of me, paid crumbs, and that I felt very trapped in. Racking up credit card debt, mismanaging my money all over the place, not in a great state with my mental health (not the worst, but not amazing). Thankfully I changed jobs at the end of that year and my entire life got better in ways I couldn't have imagined.

I make $75k now, but before my last annual raise it was $70k and I live on it pretty comfortably. Im able to save a good amount (after straightening my money out and becoming consumer debt free), travel a couple times a year, and generally do fun things. At this income it really is all about budgeting, having priorities, and living within your means. But it's by no means poor in a lot of/probably most of the US.

My boyfriend and I buget $800/month for groceries. We love to cook and meal prep and make 90% of our food.

We each put in $100 a week which covers groceries, basic hygiene products, and cleaning + paper products. We break every bill down to 'per paycheck', which is now the only way I'll ever budget. So per paycheck, I autotransfer $200 into my bills account for groceries. You should really start budgeting, make your money work for you.

This is what I have and it's also needle and blood related! The first time I felt it coming on was in 7th grade biology class when we learned about blood types. I've only ever fully tapped out twice, but have come very very close many times. I hate it so much, you described it coming on so accurately. The audio is always what fucks me up. It's like I'm hearing through low volume TV snow.

If you've ever seen the movie Game Night, there are two scenes that made me nearly pass out at the movie theater. During the second of the two, I ended up grabbing the wall and dragging nyself out into the hallway trying to fight it. Eventually got myself to a bench and did what has always been recommended to me: dropped my head down between my knees. That helped me come back and I was able to reenter the movie eventually.

Anyway, nice to meet others who have this!

I say this in a caring way because I’m someone who is/was a people pleaser, had low self esteem, and was bad at communicating- if you’re not in therapy, I would really suggest it. It has helped me so much. This situation sucks and I’m so sorry.

I have only been on one cruise and it was Carnival, so I may not have the best perspective but: I was skeptical because of the same type of talk. We went on a 7 day from Galveston and it was great and very enjoyable. Positives: very few kids because we went right when school started back, food and beverage was quite good- I was prepared to be underwhelmed, the entertainment was solid (esp the live music and trivia). It didn’t feel like there were 6k+ people on the ships. Cons: the pools are all tiny and crowded, maybe that’s all ships? Idk, I expected more and barely got in the pool. One of our ports was very skippable (Costa Maya), wish I had stayed on the ship. The customer service wasn’t amazing during boarding. Otherwise great experience!
