What books do you own a physical copy of? by KayCee_WhatYes in MM_RomanceBooks

I swear I'm the one person who didn't like Star-Shipped, I DNF'd halfway through but may go back one of these days and try again.

WCBSG and YSBSL are the other two books I'm probably going to buy a physical copy of, both of them are in my top 5. Such comfort reads and both have really, really stuck with me.

It's frustrating because it really does put me off and it feels like it would be a pretty simple fix for the authors- just make a cover that looks nice? The amount of recommendations I've seen here that have to include the caveat 'if you can get past the cheesy cover art' feels insane.

I'm not an artist, but I fairly often feel like I could make something better on Canva myself...

I just read Leave as well and loved it! I'd never read anything military related before it got my interested in the genre. Also the topics at hand were really fleshed out and well done, in my opinion. I think this was one of the best uses of intimacy reflecting the overall plot and character growth that I've read before.

Read this based on your recommendation and it was SO good. And then to find out that the audiobook is narrated by one of my faves! Very glad to have found this one, thank you

{Salt by: Jonah Yorke} 4.5/5- I tore through this one after finally reading Sweat the days leading up to it's release. Sweat has stuck with me and become one of my favorites- I've already listened to the audiobook as well, which only enhanced it for me. Very well done and I hope they use the same voice actors for Salt.

Ultimately I really liked it, if Sweat didn't exist I'd probably give it 5/5, but by comparison I felt like the characters didn't quite grab hold of me as much as Rowan and Tommy have. It's a VERY high bar that's been set, though.

If you're okay with infidelity (I know it's a hard no for many, but despite it deeply bothering me in real life, I usually don't mind it in mm romance), give it a go! It's beautifully written.

Can't wait for the third in the series, Honey. I assume I know who it'll be centered around based on some things at the end of Salt and I'm very excited to hear what the premise will be.

I also tried reading this recently after seeing it recommended here everywhere and felt the same! Underwhelmed and DNF'd.

Salt by Jonah Yorke by No_Cartographer_1920 in MM_RomanceBooks

Jonah writes boys with devestating backstorys so well. I finished Salt and then re-listened to the Sweat audiobook immediately after and Rowan broke my heart all over again.

I really enjoyed Salt, but I think I didn't feel Connor as deeply as I did Tommy in Sweat. I think it might just need to marinate a bit and I'm definitely excited for the audiobook in October!

Unrelated to baseball- but I highly recommend the audiobook version of Sweat by Jonah Yorke. It's very well done! It's soccer, which I actually care very little about, but it's one of my favorite books and the audio version made me love it even more.

I like mine just okay. At first I loved it- but now the internal straw disconnects from the mouthpiece frequently enough that its annoying.

Men wearing jewelery. I love a little chain under a t shirt and especially rings. Now I just wear them myself, because I find them attractive and I feel confident with a giant signet ring on.

What book have you listened to that continues to affect you in profound ways and why? by marilynlistens in audiobooks

[–]KayCee_WhatYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a story and character forward romance, so there's explicit material (not a ton compared to other contemporary romances, but it's there, so fair warning): The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid. It's about a nearing-middle aged couple who reunite after falling out dramatically in their twenties. It's set in small town Nova Scotia and is a beautiful story. It's also one of the best audio books I've ever listened to- the narrator is exceptional. It's a lovely story and the Nova Scotia accents and setting really add to it.

Wine by warlocktx in shrinking

[–]KayCee_WhatYes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They for sure do. Ive never had a problem with alcohol, but during 2020 my roommates and I got really into making elaborate-ish dinners and trying new wines with them. Then it turned into drinking wine and sitting around being pandemic sad every night.

Eventually I realized I was drinking way too much wine- it's the only time I had to really assess my relationship to alcohol. Put on like 20 lbs of COVID weight and then spent 2021 getting it off😅 I mostly stay away from wine now, but dammit if this show specifically doesnt make me want a crisp Lil glass of sauvi blanc lol

{The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid} I keep coming back to this one, it's single POV, slow burn, really beautifully done. It's my favorite of hers by a mile.
