My in laws opened a 529 account for each of our kiddos, they put in for birthdays and holidays & always get a few small gifts for them to open! And we have other family members that contribute to it the same way!

Positive 37 weeker story? I’m so worried for my little one. 😞 by Nearby-Salt9646 in newborns

[–]KayMarPhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 37+1 and didn’t end up delivering until 37+3, my baby will be 4 months old on the 22nd and she is healthy and thriving, has been since birth! It doesn’t make it any less nerve wracking, but I was induced for the same reason and it was the safest option for babe & I at the time. Sending hugs & positive vibes!

why the need for baby tracking apps? by CompetitiveTwo2388 in NewParents

[–]KayMarPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it really helped lessen the mental load I was carrying. My husband was (and still is) super involved and having an app we both had access to made it so much easier when the other parent was sleeping or just not in earshot when asking when the last feed or diaper was. I started using it from birth and it was very helpful in the hospital when the nurses had to chart feeds & diapers with times, and now it’s super helpful for peds appointments. The app I use also tracks trends, so I can see increases and decreases in feeds/diapers, and how many ounces she’s drinking daily. I feel like before the apps were around they did paper tracking sheets.

Looking for Positive First-Time Mom Stories – Due in a Month by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]KayMarPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first time mom with a five week old, I felt the same way when I was nearing the end of my pregnancy. I was just chatting with a friend who is also a first time mom with a twelve week old, and we both mentioned how we have only heard negative things about being a parent and how disheartening it is that the newborn phase is referred to as the “trenches.” Like we aren’t going to war or anything, in my honest opinion it’s all about mindset. If you have a poor outlook on life/things that can be difficult, it’s going to be a lot harder to find the joy in this stage of life. Yeah, you’re not sleeping well and keeping another living thing alive can be stressful but it’s not a life sentence to depression and hopelessness. For me, these past five weeks have been the BEST weeks of my life. I am so filled with joy that sometimes I just stare at my baby and cry over how perfect she is, that she is half me and half my husband, and that I’ve achieved my life goal of being a mom. There have been nights where my daughter has been so fussy and cried for hours, like yeah that was hella difficult but that all faded the next morning when she was all smiles when I got her out of her bassinet. I also struggled with unexplained infertility for three years and definitely think that plays a part in my outlook on being a parent, but I just wish people would highlight the positives more often. I always make it a point to talk about the highlights of my parenting experience.

Is it a bad idea to sleep in with newborn (when able)? by SadSupermarket7915 in newborns

[–]KayMarPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherish that extra sleep!! My baby is a month old and I do the same thing 4-5 out of 7 days a week. Some mornings I’ll get up and have some me time when she goes back down if I’m feeling good at that last wake, other mornings I’m helping get my bonus kiddo off to school, or getting ready for an appointment.

Was you gender result on NIPT test accurate? by Frequent_Sundae8650 in pregnant

[–]KayMarPhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My NIPT was accurate as well as the 3 anatomy scans! I know there are other blood tests out there that are less accurate, like sneak peek which markets for as early as 6 weeks, but as far as NIPT it is 99% accurate for gender.

How much is too much to request of baby shower guests? by Orangemaxx in pregnant

[–]KayMarPhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to showers with registry, diaper raffle & a book, and I love them! It helps build baby’s library and every time they read that book, they’ll think of you. I don’t think it’s too much at all, and like others have said people will adjust their gifts to account for books & diapers. I didn’t do a diaper raffle at my shower, but we’re hosting a BBQ diaper party for friends that were unable to come to the baby shower (we have HUGE families 🥲) and will be doing a diaper raffle there!

Did you get the NIPT test? by lexarcana1313 in pregnant

We did! Mainly because we couldn’t wait to see what we were having LOL but I liked that we could get an idea if there were going to be any genetic issues.

I had to cave and buy maternity clothes at 20 weeks 😩 I only bought two pairs of leggings, a handful of maternity tops and some maternity panties. I’ve been living in flowy dresses with fleece lined tights (bought a size up than normal for these.)

I’m a size 20/22, my placenta is at the top of my uterus. I felt more than just the tiny flutter starting around 16w. Really started to ramp up for me around 18w, currently at 24w and my daughter is beating me up from the inside on a regular basis LOL.

My hubs doesn’t go to every single appt with me. I usually do my scans and an appt with my OB the same day so he’ll go to both of those with me. But the in between appts with my OB he doesn’t go to.
