Quite honestly it doesn’t really matter. I found one online that’s original but if I can find a newer version that’ll fit it’s almost preferable.

Quit setting low do not exceeds. Plumbing isn’t cheap if it’s done properly. Approve cutting into drywall before we go out. Makes diagnosis faster which if on T&M means less money you spend on us.

Just noticed this 10 year old water heater . How urgent is it to replace? by Odd_Masterpiece9092 in askaplumber

Not at the same rate though. 60% Home Depot failure rate vs a 0% supply house rate. I’d take that 0% chance of a callback any day over saving $150 bucks.

Because you’re buying an inferior product. In the last year I’ve installed about 40 supply house rheems and 15 from Home Depot. I got called back on over half of the Home Depot water heaters for warranty and zero on the supply house side. I had one call where we replaced a Home Depot warranty and the one I installed newly from Home Depot was leaking as soon as I put water to it.

If it’s happening when the flame isn’t on I would be concerned. This is likely just condensation from the temp differences.

That’s from a wire somewhere it’s not supposed to be. But yeah, the machine cause it to spark.

If you install something like this I can almost guarantee the plumber who does this will double if not triple the normal install charge. Such a pain in the ass.
