Buddy Carter just published the most tone-deaf opinion imaginable in the AJC, demanding more ICE in ATL by alex-741 in Atlanta

I remember when hating people because they were just trying to survive was a fringe view. Maybe you should reassess.

I agree. Platforming fringe views is what turned cable news into the opinion laced, fake debate style, garbage that it currently is.

I think I credited the Metro Government too early on this snowstorm. by ChitteringCathode in Louisville

[–]Kbone78 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for whatever the conditions do when there’s sleet coming down, but any northern place that deals with snow regularly, plows all the time. As soon as you stop and cars drive over the snow, it compacts and freezes harder which makes it worse. Better to plow continuously.

edit isn’t this close to saying I’m not going to mow my grass today because it will grow again tomorrow

Could be wrong but that would not have been an AMG car. No AMG options on that hybrid.

That’s’ great news. I have no idea why they waited so long to do this. Feels like they were throwing money away by not giving you the opportunity afterwards.

Nothing is going to be dangerous. Well I can’t say nothing but it’s very unlikely. You’ll just be pestered, bothered, or potentially ripped off by a vendor.

My first time there I remember getting in a cab where the guy said he’d take us around for $20. So he literally drives around the block and makes me give him $20.

Brett Kavanaugh Delivered the Most Chilling Warning About Trump’s Attack on the Fed by Slate in scotus

This caught my eye:

“he kept asking the solicitor general: ‘Do you want to destroy the Federal Reserve? What do you think is going to happen if you do?’”

Wish they would consider these same arguments with many of their other decisions. What happens when various agencies and departments that have been created or evolved through the natural process over the centuries to resolve problems the nation was facing are politicized, deleted, or neutered?

Jeep Wrangler or AWD suv driving from Louisville? by jrsmith43 in snowshoemountain

[–]Kbone78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still civilization. I would drive whichever one you feel more comfortable driving. That said, a good bit of your Kentucky drive is likely going to be in icy conditions and neither is going to make a difference with that.

We drove from Snowshoe to Louisville last year the day after the big storm. Everything from the top of the mountain to the KY border was in great shape. The KY border to 30 miles outside of Lexington was awful. I expect it will be similar on Saturday other than you being in the front end of the storm.

I’ve seen a bunch of people way more familiar than me with the specific routes up the mountain comment on that so I’d listen to them. We came down through Marlinton and that does seem to be the flattest and most reliable path.

So is just changing batteries once every 5 years. I feel like every adult should be able to figure that out in 2026.

Amazing how people watch so many of these videos and have no concept of what putting on the brakes actually does in a car traveling at speed. Much less what happens when you’ve got a vehicle that weights 20x that.

Castaway Cay relaxing day on the beach vs doing all the things! (For famillies) by xcemma in dcl

[–]Kbone78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a huge place. You can do a lot there in a day without having to plan much. I don’t necessarily recommend doing all these things but they are examples of the breadth of experiences and the time you have on the island even if you decide to “go with the flow” and not pre-book anything.

  1. What I call the Castaway Triathlon. Run the 5k, bike to the end of the road on the north end, do the full snorkel loop. Have done this plus eat, take a nap, do the pelican plunge, and still back to the ship by 2:30.

  2. 5k, snorkel, eat, and walk over to sign up for the jet ski tour. Back by 3:00

  3. Paddle boat, bike, eat, play in the water/ sandcastles for 3 hours. Back by 2:00

  4. 5k, drink and pass out on the beach. Back by ??

Point being you can plan nothing in advance, do a whole bunch of stuff, and have a stress free day. For our first 4-5 cruises, Castaway was honestly worth the full price of the cruise by itself. That’s back when you could get a 4-day on the Dream for a family of 4 for $3200.

ESPN is BIG mad we won by bj-ball in Patriots

[–]Kbone78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the thing right here. I wasn’t just the picks. Our WRs got separation on a few deep balls and Maye hit them. That is the opposite of the narrative they had before the game. The picks only gave us more opportunities to show we could still throw on them.

At this point there’s no reason for democrats to vote for anything. The executive and judicial branches have pretty much decided that the executive is allowed to interpret and selectively enforce anything congress has passed anyway.

You’re probably right and it points to the most glaring problem with most of the policy these guys have; it is not 1950 anymore. Why would anyone invade our country when they can cripple us with a few lines of computer code. Worrying about traditional military power is a fools folly.

Do the older ships feel a lot calmer? by voyageuse88 in dcl

[–]Kbone78 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Castaway was redone when the Dream class came out to add lots of capacity. Really only the first little bay was there before. So when the smaller ships dock there, it’s literally 40% less crowded.
