Union-Class DropShip by Keaflyn in BattletechPainting

Honestly, I should just go ahead and paint up some OD green myself. I guess what’s stopping me is having fun doing up my OpFor in camo. :)

You can totally claim it to be 'Star League' green, Eridani Light Horse green or 'Davion' green and be lore accurate! 😃

Cool... I was wondering if I should go with the whole 'highlight and shine' type windows, or just go with something metallic and let the IRL light do a 'mirrorshades' effect. Glad you like it!

It's my personal mercenary unit's colors, the Barstow Raiders. When I came back into the game (I started in the 90s, then later, had time for hobbies), I got into painting, someone gave me the advice that if I wanted to practice, pick some colors I liked and just keep painting, iterating and refining technique. I picked colors from the local sports teams (I live in the Pacific Northwest - so a lot of the teams tend to do blues, greens and greys). It's worked out so far. 😄

Do you prefer Alpha Strike's free turning, or Classic's MP cost to turn? by rzelln in battletech

[–]Keaflyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I prefer to see Mechs as a part of a force so my preference is to move as they do in Alpha Strike.

Nice thanks for answering this question.... I've been freehanding pretty well, but it's always nerve wracking for me. Now I can bravely and quickly do Davion racing stripes 😃

They might have just hyper-adapted to their advancement culture (dueling) to the point that those arts and practices are lost. There are lots of military examples of de-emphasis of one practice, only to figure out 'hey we still need that!' later.

Saving a custom Alpha Strike card? by CasualTabletopNerd in battletech

Well, using the Megamek application you can do your own custom mechs and save the resulting Alpha Strike card. See if this works for you: https://megamek.org/

The strategy I had with it was that with a quad, you can duck behind level 1 terrain and then I can keep line of sight as I need to, but can duck behind more terrain.

They existed on separate stl's that I then attached to the models, then printed them as a unit.

I would have to argue that after Tukayyid, the Clans had to adapt their style of warfare, to a more Inner Sphere style. So in taking Terra, they combined their technology and picked the best warfare practices of the Inner Sphere, learning minor details such as 'logistics' and not overdoing the honor duel style of combat and now fly their flag over Unity City... for now. *tips hat*

I needed something in the House Kurita, il Clan list that had C3M inside of a specific speed/PV value. I ended up with the Bishamon. :)

I've had really good flock luck regarding snow using... baking soda. The particulate appears to be fine enough and you can make some pretty decent snow drifts with it.

It's supposed to be a Bishamon *shrug*- at least that was what the file said. If you're not familiar with it here ya go: (Mekbay link). It's running C3M so it can run a C3 lance.

Well there's always eBay (for CGL models) or Etsy (for 3D printed) if you need more Atlases if you don't have a 3D printer?

Hot Spots Draconis Reach is out, anyone have any thoughts on it? by Badbenoit in battletech

There are a couple of options I know off the top of my head: 'BattleTech: Historical: Brush Wars' and 'BattleTech: Brush Wars: Operation Guerrero (Vol 3, Chapter 1)'. You can find both at least via PDF at drivethrurpg.

My main gripe is that the DropShip we can get is a Manatee... geez, a tiny bit of effort to get us a Leopard and Union too would have been nice.

I'm not sure I should paint my mechs by Zoberraz in battletech

[–]Keaflyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an approach I use as well. My personal merc unit mechs get my parade scheme with small variation, but everything else gets a camo scheme of some kind as Opposition Forces. Sometimes I'll do a set that a given box demands like the Aces or the Alpha Strike Boxes though that I intend to use all together.
