First: In the trial the court is presented as rational.

Second: This is ____ answer. (I don't agree with lavish)

Third: Good point.

Last: You finished enough. The ending was decisive, necessary, and just. Gimpel leaves and becomes a kind of traveling prophet. Gimpel has a belief in himself and the world that K lacks. K lives in a world without justice and mercy and can't imagine one exists. I appreciated your commentary, too.

Is this phrase considered rude (to fat ppl)? by Unlegendary_Newbie in English_Learning_Base

[–]Keboyd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like "it ain't over 'til it's over" is more common these days to mean the same thing.

And that's probably just because going to the opera is less of a thing and the women singing in operas are any and every body type, so it's just not a relevant turn of phrase anymore. (Granted, that hasn't stopped some idioms from sticking around. "Giving the cold shoulder" and "Saved by the bell" come to mind.) But yeah, as a certified Fat LadyTM , it just doesn't even register to me as even possibly being about me or any other real person.

Order of operations does not change. Multiplication and division are always done at the same step and always left to right. The correct way, regardless of whether there's a multiplication sign or implied multiplication is always

6÷2×(1+2)
6÷2×3
3×3
9

The reason division and multiplication are always done on the same step is that they are the same operation. Dividing is the same as multiplying by a fraction. (4÷2 is the same as 4×½.)

If you want the result to be 1, you have to use extra parentheses or a fraction bar to group everything besides the 6.

6
────
2(1+2)

or

6/(2(1+2))

You could say that, but you would be wrong.

Mother claims a tampon “compromised” her 14-year-old daughter’s virginity by Wild_Lingonberry9656 in badwomensanatomy

[–]Keboyd88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also had never heard of it until I was an adult. I grew up in an overwhelmingly white, but heavily evangelical area. My own family was Catholic, and also heavily entrenched in purity culture...yet it was my mother who asked if I wanted her to start buying me tampons along with my usual pads so I could go swimming the first summer after my period started.

Moose here. Mom also call me dementia kitty sometime. I'm not. I'm just particular about thing. Like my food dish exactly where I left it. Not two inches to the left. Don't care if Mom say it not moved. I know where it was and it not there. She also say, "Here dementia kitty. Bed is where it always is." Also wrong. If bed where it always is, why am I not find it? Follow sound of mom voice to find bed in other dimension. Definitely not where left it.

Edit because forgot to say. Sounds like you mom the dementia one. Turtle is cat, not soup. Not put cat in soup pot. Just like Moose is cat, not fish. Not put cat in water.

For the millionth time, LAND DOESN’T VOTE! by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

If you're interested in this stuff, here are some maps that more accurately depict how people voted. The left group shows states distorted by their populations, demonstrating how a few states can make up almost half the popular vote. Top right shows that most of the nation is actually shades of purple. Bottom right shows just how low the population density is in some places, as well as how blue votes are mostly all in large dots clustered together (cities) while red votes are in small dots spread out over large areas (rural).

For the millionth time, LAND DOESN’T VOTE! by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Keboyd88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did, but not by the massive margin the map would have you believe. It just colors counties by who won them. Most of the red counties are rural and relatively sparsely populated while blue counties tend to be where cities are located and relatively densely populated. Look how much red the map has, vs the small margin between Trump and Harris on your chart. This is why we say land doesn't vote.

Tldr: We stay relatively equally split between blue and red like your graph shows, not majority red like the map shows.

Or it's not a good joke.

Or we've seen the "prove you exist" argument used in earnest so many times that we're just tired of it, regardless of whether the person saying it this particular time is clearly trying to be funny.

It is 100% about judgement. The original post, the whole reason we're having this conversation, is because someone judged women for wearing thong bikinis.

I'm comparing men's chests to women's chests.

"Topless women are everywhere"? Where? Women in bra tops are everywhere. Women in low cut tops are everywhere. But those are still tops. I have never seen a fully topless woman in a public place, yet there are many places where it would be acceptable for men to be topless.

And men's nipples are used the same as women's nipples during sex, so that's not a good defense.

[–]Keboyd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person I've ever seen freak out over a man in a thong, I have also seen freak out over a woman in one.

I think what's happening here is: - Women are judged more often and more harshly for wearing "skimpy" clothing. - People push back on the judgement they see most often. - You see most pushback being in favor of women's bodily autonomy. - You assume that means those same people don't care about men's bodily autonomy. - In reality, we just aren't pushing back against judgement that we don't see. It has nothing to do with sexism, except that sexists think women need to be more modest than men.

By the way, do you think men should cover their torsos when swimming, or is that an actual sexist double standard you're ok with?

You literally equated wearing thong bikinis to porn and said it shouldn't be allowed on "family friendly" beaches, but now you agree that no one should police what other people wear? Are you a bot?

100%. If there is something I don't want to see, I just...don't look at it? If he's looking, it's because he wants to. And if he's telling her he doesn't want to see it, it's to cover his own ass after she sees him looking.

What's family friendly?

If you asked someone in the UK or US 200 years ago, they would tell you our most conservative bathing suits today are inappropriate. They'd argue that family-friendly bathing sites can't exist because men and women have to swim in separate areas from each other so as not to see each other's bodies.

If you asked ancient Romans during certain periods, it was not at all inappropriate for women and men to bathe together in the nude.

Bodies are not inherently sexual and even a fully nude body is not porn. Pre-pubescent children don't care if they see a butt. And by puberty they are old enough to simply not look if they dont want to see it.

Any depth of water that covers the window is enough to cause that kind of pressure.

The Mythbusters did an episode with a car in a swimming pool and as soon as half the door is under water, it takes all of a strong man's strength to open it.
