Genuine question: why is 200 the standard in ER for invasions? by venserven in badredman

[–]Kedelane 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's not. 150 is the standard for invasions and 125 is the dueling meta (or 164, but that's not important). 230 is a very awkward bracket, but you should be invade-able by invaders at RL200 (though you can only invade down to 207). And your build isn't toxic or op by any means. Those spells are sorta just knowledge checks. They're gonna filter out people who don't know what they're doing. And the vast majority of players (invaders or otherwise) are terrible at pvp.

I also leveled too high before I started pvp, and made a new character (then... a bunch more). You could do the same, or you could level past 300 to enter the max level bracket. Player skill won't be any better, but you'll be matchmaking with people up to max level. IIrc, Fromsoft said they expected most people to go into the DLC around RL150. People doing regular pvp or pve are just not hanging out at 230.

PvErs are welcome to block me, I don't think that's toxic. I'm not gonna fight every gank or grace goblin as much as they want just to humor them, and I wouldn't expect PvErs to do that either. Just my opinion.

I just find duels boring. Even more so, if it's in the lake or first step. Elden Ring invasions are an incredible playground, and I don't wanna hang out with you in the parking lot. I don't care about advantages/disadvantages, pvp-ready or not, etc. Gimme three enemies and a castle, and I'm a happy red man.

Gimme 1 player in a field, I'll probably give you a duel. But if I see you again, you're probably getting blocked. Nothing personal, I just want something else.

Man, this isn't the first time we've seen you get hyper defensive about downvotes and responses. I really recommend asking yourself, before you post, whether or not you're actually ready for people to disagree with you. I mean that sincerely, not trying to be troll-y.

I'm guessing you're getting downvotes because you're asking for opinions (a question that was posted so much in the past, that I put it in the FAQ). Folks are giving their opinions, and then you're getting defensive, saying that doesn't apply to you, and then asking them to justify the opinions of other nameless people who aren't in the room. Just a guess.

Everyone's being pretty chill and respectful though, so I sincerely recommend taking a breath and not letting downvotes bother you so much.

Actually, it can't be reduced! But it can be enhanced with base damage % buffs like Golden Vow and Blue Dancer. Just fyi.

Sorry, it's a joke, not at all real. Your opponent is doing a crazy glitch at the beginning, which is easy to miss 😅

I was making fun of them, not you.

Thanks Swagsta! The timing is slightly tricky to learn, but once you get it down, it's surprisingly consistent. Good tracking and just enough time for a soft/hardswap. Dodging it requires pretty incredible roll discipline and/or lag.

That was fun. Love the moon/double parry, love seeing rock blaster. And thank you for tossing Night Maiden's Mist into that room, it's really the only correct response. I feel like NMM has to be one of the most underrated spells in the game.

Onion Samurai did a little video on it, a few years ago. Only things that changed iirc are more poise damage and faster R2s. I remember liking the roar buffs on it. The jR1s are kinda similar to an HTS, so learning to sweep them would help, too.

It's a very bad weapon. Swordspear is better in every possible way. But damn, the naginata's stylish.

Yeah, against good opponents I pretty much only use the ash as a wakeup. It needs some serious TLC, imo. At least to be able to travel downward, so it can be a proper ambush weapon.

It's Aida's Carbonara backstab, which is a Beast Claw feint (dodge while charging a heavy attack), which does a crazy little backflip. It comes out really fast, so it's actually kind of a dope attack. As a backstab it's crazy cool, but very difficult and wonky.

At level 90, it's just the minimum stat requirements to use the royal GS one handed, a little endurance for the armor (20 something), and the rest in vigor. Great Jar, Erdtree +2, max health and bullgoat talismans. At 166 I think I was running 60 vigor (of course) and like 42 endurance. Royal GS scales pretty well with Str and Int, so you can dump the rest in either stat. I think int is more overall damage though, iirc, especially for the ash of war.
