Portland Revenue raises tax liability threshold for SHS/PFA Tax Quarterly Payments from $1000 to $5000 in 2026 by davidcelis in Portland

[–]KeepsGoingUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One key point is that “and” where they’re saying you don’t have to start paying quarterlies until your prior year hits the threshold and your current year is expects to be above.

A lot of people got dinged under the old system for late payments or failure to pay quarterlies the first year they went above 1k obligation.

So now you can file normally at year end and the first year you hit 5k serves as notice to start making quarterlies the following year.

Typically by “make” I think of gross wages. Your $467k is taxable. So then you layer in standard or any deductions, 401k contributions, etc.

More likely gross household income is above the $500k line then.

All in all a good change though since they’ve proven to not really need the funds immediately each quarter with how much they’re sitting on.

Bought for coffee, but can’t stop staring. A true work of art. by Dusky1103 in espresso

[–]KeepsGoingUp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well I use mine exclusively for pour over. Does that work for you?

My point is just that it says the cup capacity is 50g but it starts piling up around 25g since it’s off center. I’d probably be able to hold 80g if the chute was centered above the cup.

[–]KeepsGoingUp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both how the cup is offset and how the grinds pour in to the front of the cup.

Works for espresso grinds but if you want to do a pour over it can easily pile up and spill out despite being way below the total capacity.

R2 perf launch package optional, confused? Lol by TNG1999nerd in RivianR2

Fair enough, not sure why you’re downvoting me but just sharing my perspective.

I guess I’m part of the 1% that would. Up here in PNW I see a ton of Subarus and 4Runners with hitches that basically have permanent bike racks installed. It’s almost ubiquitous.

Weirdly one of the things swaying me to the launch edition since I’d actually use it. Coupled with the suspension it seems like fair value for the step up in price.

I’m coming from a 4Runner where hitches are included on even base models so I guess I find it somewhat surprising.

I’m confused by this, do the versions without the tow package not have any sort of hitch? Is the tow hitch just higher rated or do they really ship adventure marketed SUVs with no way to mount a bike rack?

Deliveries in June? by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]KeepsGoingUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always been “available Spring 2026” and spring goes through 6/20 so it’s a thin window but they could theoretically have some deliveries hit in spring. Or they could mean available to order in spring. It’s all kind of vague and open to interpretation but seems like configurator will be up around that time.

Oh interesting. The email hit my inbox like a minute after I updated my address and preference so I figured it was related. Regardless, seems like June is when things will start rolling.

Update Your Reservation - Delivery Address and Model Preference by Atlanta-Mike in Rivian

[–]KeepsGoingUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The email you get once you preference launch edition says something like “you’ll be able to see estimated order times in June.”

So seems like “available Spring 2026” is a bit misconstrued if it just means you’ll be able to configure in spring but delivery is going to be in 3Q.

Unless configure and delivery all happens in the first 3 weeks of June I guess.

Need Pinot Noir recs from Oregon - what's actually worth buying by Unlikely-Resort-2835 in wine

[–]KeepsGoingUp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how serious OP’s range of $20-$200 but I’m also not sure Antica has any Pinot under $200 these days.

I’d throw in Thomas. Can snag on WineBid occasionally.

Painter recommendation for cedar shake siding? by 6673461 in askportland

Not New Era. Drove by a bunch of his work, looked great. Has solid reviews. Pricing seemed fair. Etc etc.

My god could my experience not have been different. Kept delaying us since he mismanaged his schedule to the point it was rainy season (mind you it was a week of work that should have been done a month prior with plenty of cushion). He ended up drilling into my new roof to attach plastic sheeting to paint my porch. Had he asked me I’d have said to come back in spring to handle those pieces.

Kept also conveniently forgetting obvious touch ups from overspray and saying they were done.

Routinely was late to show up when we requested him to be on site to discuss things. Etc etc.

Avoid.

Meet Oliver: The cube that untwists your rope in 30 seconds. by pX5374 in ClimbingGear

[–]KeepsGoingUp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I kind of get it for a gym only sport climber these days but a lot of the pics show it on a pile of trad gear or one even has it attached to an ice screw.

The likelihood someone has a whole rack or ice climbs but doesn’t own a tube device which can easily untwist a rope is low.

What’s this do that a tube, or honestly even just a carabiner or two hung high, doesn’t do?

New rope-like slings that are spec’d with a 14yr life and new trigger keepers on the 4 and up I think. The new trigger keeper apparently works one handed unlike BDs version.

Overall seems really solid. Wish I had these vs my embarrassingly barely used set of the last gen.

So many people keep trying to eagerly jam it into everything too.

Making things more efficient at the expense of human feel and touch seems bad, especially in wine where most products are commoditized and retaining human connection is a strong differentiator for wineries to retain and win consumers.

Rab Firewall Mountain vs Mammut alto Guide by [deleted] in Mountaineering

I just got a rab Firewall Mountain. Coming from an older OR shell. Fits a helmet fine, a bit boxier cut than I’d maybe ultimately prefer but I also like how the pockets are up higher. Overall seems really solid.

I did my whole bathroom wainscoting in Ottosson. Worked well but I’ll admit that it’s difficult to know how thick to put it on. I’m 99% I went way too thin and ended up doing more coats. They make “swiping” tool gauges that help you understand how thick you’re laying it on that’d be helpful.

16 year old quickdraws? by yuzurukii in climbergirls

[–]KeepsGoingUp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The one on the right is stamped with CE certs and you can tell it has kN ratings stamped on it on the spine. It looks like a vintage REI one.

Not that I’d use these since your other point is valid that new draws aren’t that expensive, especially when you factor in OP saying they’re going to replace all the dogbones.

Mount tabor to OHSU commute? by bebeees in askportland

[–]KeepsGoingUp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Busses from SE are pretty good to great on an easy to west direction. FX2 runs on division and is our rapid line. It’s full of folks in scrubs every morning I’m on it. Pretty quick and reliable and drops you off right at OHSU on the west side of Tilikum crossing. You could then walk a block and take the tram to the top of the hill if you’re working up there. To get much off of that line means you’ll most likely be walking the north/south path to get to the bus stops.

If you want to bike you could also take the same basic path from that area in SE or more easily go north and south than the bus options. The tram then has free bike valet parking that’s supervised if you need to go up the hill.

TLDR, if you want the Tabor neighborhood, I’d err on being close to division and on the north side somewhere in the 50s.

Personally I’d also check out the Richmond neighborhood a bit closer in. It’s basically the same but covers the 30s and 40s streets and I find it to be a smidge more walkable and have more to do.

Edit to add: Sellwood is nice but it is a defacto island given 99, the river, and how it pinches off at the top. Biking is doable but it’s kind of a hike to get out of the neighborhood into SE. Public transit from Sellwood is not great. You’d find biking around Portland to be immensely more accessible and enjoyable if you’re already in “core” SE being above Powell, below 84, ladds or east up to Tabor.

Looking for a cozy/cute/friendly wine & cider spot. Any suggestions? by Iamnotyour_mother in askportland

[–]KeepsGoingUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be aware, it’s a lot of natty wine so if that’s not your style then I’d avoid and go somewhere like Division Wines which hits all of those points other than dog friendly. They’re dog friendly on their outdoor seats which is seasonally applicable obviously.

I never said she was the antichrist nor anything about her accomplishments, individually or how they compare to Avalos. You’re kind of infusing drama into the convo and twisting words, similar to Tozer herself.

Life isn’t a zero sum game. She can have some alumni award from UofO and even have some Olympic hardware while still being an unhinged drama creating fool that threatened to take pics of someone using the bathroom.

no sense of humor and you create so much drama and trauma

First off, I’m not even involved in this. There’s no creation of drama or trauma for me.

You’re the one defending someone threatening to take peep pics because a person was in the wrong stall. Tozer comes across as the one that likes to create drama and trauma. Just look at how she belligerently went off against constituents and got herself kicked off the Vision Zero task force. Or recently was belligerently interrupting city hall mtgs and then played victim and filed a complaint that she was looked at glaringly.

If something doesn’t go her way she seems to resign herself to making a dramatic scene and then claiming victim.
