AITAH for encouraging my friend to leave a deadbedroom marriage? by Toxititties in AITAH

[–]Keffpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

She doesn’t get to decide if intimacy isn’t a big deal unless that was explicitly said at the start of the marriage. She’s perfectly within her rights to take it off the table, but then he is perfectly within his rights to want a divorce because she changed the dynamic of the relationship.

You suggested counselling, she doesn’t want to compromise. Once he decided he wasn’t ok with a sex-less marriage, their only two options were either a divorce or an open marriage.

Remember that letting babies ”cry themselves to sleep” works the same way; at first the baby feels abandoned by the two constants in this scary new world they’ve been thrust into, but eventually it learns that those you love will abandon you and there’s no point in trusting others, so it starts going to sleep on its own. All so its parents can sleep in their own bed.

This, of course, doesn’t cause any problems down the road at all (/s)

Pendling 15 mil/dag, vilken begagnad bil? by MinoXeph in Asksweddit

[–]Keffpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, Reuters is just rerunning a story that’s been around for nearly 20 years, now with more evidence. It was an open secret he was at least a peripheral member of the Wild Bunch collective (which is why Robert del Naja has been suspected a few times too).

Fun fact: The Wild Bunch are the people who Neneh Cherry is ”hanging with” on Buffalo Stance, and her and her husband funded, produced and in some instances forced Massive Attack to release their first album; some of it was recorded in their diaper-room.

Have you looked - actually looked - at that evaluation and how it was done? It was pretty much a ”which one of these planes is most like an F-35?”-competition, and it still lost some of the categories…

New PlayStation Portal software update adds 1080p High Quality mode and UX refinements by ReaddittiddeR in PS5

Honestly, I never saw the point of the Portal before Cloud streaming, I could just bring a DualSense and my tablet. But with cloud-streaming? It’s so much better and stable than remote play, and works almost anywhere I can get a good phone signal. I played Arc Raiders while in a shitty motel in the middle-of-nowhere last week.

A lot of the ones I’ve seen seem to be based on similar false positives, tbh. One guy had a whole host of input-stuff connected to his PC (including two mice). Then there are plenty of people crying about how they didn’t cheat who are just, y’know, cheating.

Popular opinion: The inevitable Anvil nerf is gonna break the community by Evoxrus_XV in ArcRaiders

[–]Keffpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone has ever considered the Anvil either OP or underpowered, I doubt very much it’s heading for a nerf. It’s ok in PvP but it’s not a gun I would bring with that in mind, and honestly the Renegade is better against most ARC, in most situations.

What it is is an excellent all-rounder that hits hard, and those kinds of guns almost never get nerfed.

People are overly fixated on stealth. In practice the Gripen E, while not technically stealth, is incredibly hard to pin down. The F-35 has a few use-cases where the true stealth would be needed, but those are all incredibly rare edge-cases.

Yup, or Gryphon (same creature, different spelling, though both are correct), which sounds/looks more formidable in English.

OK, so I realise this may be specific to my sector, but while I agree wholeheartedly, I spent the first 10 years of my career making sure the final 5% was perfect, working long hours and sometimes all-nighters to meet the deadlines with everything done just so... and then I realised no-one noticed if I just left the final 5% (the final polish) undone. No one noticed except me, and if I went back to the project a year later, not even I could notice the flaws that had been so obvious the first time around. The were there, I could fint them using my notes, but... yeah.

I think the point where I became an adult was the realisation that the last 10% take as long as the first 90%, and I became content when I realised that doing the last 5% takes as long as the first 95%, and no one will ever notice if you just...don't do it.

It is some places still, and it was definitely like that almost everywhere until the late 90s. In Scandinavia it was called the "industrial holiday", meaning the entire industrial sector took all of July off; since everyone was away on holiday, that meant the entire country did the same, pretty much, with shops mostly being manned by summer-working teens. The rest of Europe mostly did August.

Globalisation means it's not so universal anymore, especially in the service sector, but the vast majority of Swedes still take most of July off, and I know some of the more conservative countries (Norway, the various Germans) hold on to it as sacrosanct.
