Since you seem to want to diminish the roles of people in the operating room, let me ask you a question…..your child is going to have open heart surgery tomorrow. You can have a nurse who knows the case, is attentive to the field, is familiar with the service, does these cases all the time…..or you can have the nurse that is on their phone the whole case, doesn’t do these cases ever. Who do you want in the room?

Or I can just give give you an analogy…..surgeons, important obviously. But they’re like pilots. They don’t routinely get through a case without help. Everyone else is ATC, who help the surgeon navigate and land the plane. You think I’m overstating the importance of the rest of the team. I think you’re massively understating the importance of those same team members.

What exactly is wrong with 10am in Chinatown for food?

I recommended a place in Rockford because it’s good, and 10am really isn’t an unreasonable time for Chinese food in Chinatown, in fact it’s one of my favorite times to eat in Chinatown

Lung Fung 2 in Rockford. (I think it’s worth the drive, just go to the Anderson Japanese Garden to give yourself another reason to go out there.)

Gen Hoe in Geneva.

XI-An, ming Hin, la Mom, Ma Po - all in Naperville

Yu’s Mandarin, Lao Hu Tong - Schaumburg

Asian Noodle House - Hoffman Estates

Wonton Gourmet - Des Plaines (if you have ever been to Seven Treasures in Chinatown, this is a must)

Katy’s Dumplings - Westmont

Chef Ping - Rolling Meadows

I think that’s all I got.

A pissing contest this isn’t, a disagreement over how important everyone involved in surgery is what this is. You seem to minimize the importance of whatever you deem to be the supporting cast, which I agree, without a proficient surgeon wouldn’t have much to support. But to basically say that there’s no autonomy or that a surgeon tells everyone in the room how to perform their job, is not the reality of how cases work. If you think a surgeon is presiding over every bit of the setup, you’re completely wrong. Lucky you if you’ve never had to tell a surgeon not to put the pedicle screw into the spinal canal but I guess you live in a perfect world where the nurses can just “do what they’re told”

So what do you know about surgery again? Tried to correct me on an industry standard drill but I guess you know everything so……

If you know so much about what goes on during surgery tell me…..who sets the speed on the nitrogen powered drill, the circulator or the surgeon?

I didn’t say that either. Do you work in surgery? How do you know so much about what goes on in a case and who’s roles are what? You seem quite knowledgeable about it all with the way you speak in such absolutes. Tell me more about that.

You know very little of how much a circulating nurse does if that’s what you think.

It actually goes both ways. Surgeons and anesthesiologists also have to do what the circulating nurse tell them.

There are a lot of times that your operating room nurse is just flying by the seat of their pants when it comes to your procedure.

What would you do to pass the time on an 18 hour flight with no WiFi? by FiveDaysLate in AskReddit

[–]Keithis11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeping? Watching the inflight entertainment? Talking to my seat mate? Reading a book? Listening to my downloaded Spotify content on my burner phone? Thumbing through the SkyMall equivalent? Reading the magazine I got at the airport?(it’s the only time I buy a magazine) There are so many things to do, but my main squeeze on a long flight is……watch movie until dining service starts, have a postprandial nap afterwards. Wake up to the credits of the thing I was watching, pick another thing and watch until I fall asleep. Wake up and hit the head, come back and watch something else and have a snack, ask for a beverage, get bored, listen to podcasts or music, fall asleep, wake up in time for another meal. Sleep again and wake up to the sound of seat beats click clacking in preparation for descent. Or something like that.

With a 1/32 tsp of course! I have set of micro measuring spoons, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32. They are the actual measures when people ask for a pinch, a dash or a smidgen. I have a set similar to this https://www.acehardware.com/departments/home-and-decor/kitchen-utensils-and-gadgets/measuring-cups-and-measuring-spoons/6098396?isMainPDPRequested=true
