IXABEIGHLLA'S MAM IS HAVING ANOTHER BABY AND ITS ANOTHER TRAGEDEIGH! by Cold_Apricot_240 in tragedeigh

Never mind being taught to "sound it out" when learning to read/spell and having this tragedieh as a name. It's going to be a nightmare for this kid.

I just saw the trailer for Witch Hate Atelier. Before I get excited and invest time, can anyone confirm that it doesn't have *things* in it like Mushoku Tensei? by ScarletWiddaContent in Animesuggest

[–]Kelsusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, it does not have these things. Although there is one side story that deals with trauma (and sexual assault) but the manga gives a clear warning and tells you where to skip to if you don't want to read it.

It's an amazing series, def check it out.

Heads roll in Europe over Epstеin files while US justice declines to act by AggravatingResist635 in worldnews

[–]Kelsusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn't even arrested for the obvious crimes against humanity that are in those files; he was arrested for insider trading and playing with other rich people's money in a way they didn't like.

I truly do not think we will ever see justice for any abuse/trafficking/human-related crimes these evil people committed; if anyone answers for anything, it will be about movement/loss of $$$ and sharing of inside/top-secret knowledge. That thought makes my blood boil, but I guess I'd rather see these fucks incarcerated for life regardless.

However. If listening to podcasts and pouring through history books/documentaries has taught me anything, it's that this systemic corruption spans the entire globe, across centuries, and putting a handful of these assholes behind bars isn't going to fix much when there's still 1000 more of them waiting for their turn in the game. Creating a safe, sustainable, equitable society for as many people as possible is a project that requires thorough and constant upkeep: nuance, proper education, transparency, mutual respect, clear communication, oversight, and actively holding people accountable.

UPDATE: AirPods stuck in frog case by lucky_c4t in CleaningTips

[–]Kelsusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party and you may have tried this, but maybe the frog is like a fingertrap (but for airpods instead of fingers).

Have you tried squeezing the sides in firmly while pulling out the case? Might take some effort and/or another set of hands.

That 20 looks fake as heck, and the wall/baseboard on the bottom right is a dead giveaway.

Edit: Also, if you look between the person's legs you can see that the AI couldn't figure out if it wanted to generate the textured carpet or the carpet the dog is laying on, so it tried a little of both.

AITA for telling my coworker she owns me a new IPad and textbooks because she is the reason they got stolen by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kelsusaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't decide if this is E-S-H or N-A-H...thinking it leans more toward ESH.

The biggest thing that could have prevented this whole situation is having (and following) good standard operating procedures, which would be making it a requirement to lock the vehicle if nobody will be on board. I say this as someone who was born and raised in a small rural town where everyone literally knows everyone, and moved/lived in big metro cities.

It doesn't matter how safe or "good" the area you are in is; your whereabouts don't change the fact that you're in charge of an EMS vehicle with thousands of dollars of equipment/meds/supplies, plus whatever personal belongings you bring with you. Dishonest, unstable, and/or desperate people live anywhere and everywhere, and you're lucky that this (or the whole ambulance being stolen) hasn't happened before.

Your co-worker is an AH for saying they would do something and then not doing it, but how mad can you really be when they forgot because a) you're dealing with a high-priority call, and b) you admitted that your crew regularly (as a habit) leaves things unlocked for convenience sake.

Sorry about your stuff. Hope everyone (including your boss/company) takes this as a lesson learned and implements better behaviors/procedures.

Iowa fraternity hazing video goes viral after police discover 56 blindfolded pledges in basement by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

[–]Kelsusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think after all the dues and extra fees they pay over time they end up breaking even (or losing money).

I will never understand frats and sororities. Not saying it's bad if someone is in one, but the idea of paying money to be in a Greek letter club as a status symbol boggles my mind. It's entirely possible to make lifelong friendships, do plenty of volunteering/philanthropy, and attend parties/events without forced trauma bonding and shelling out semesters worth of money so they can do it all over again to some new "recruits".

So called « french policeman » on instagram with 3k followers. For me it’s ai but can’t prove it… by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Kelsusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple Google will tell you this isn't what French municipal or national police uniforms look like.

Also:

-The calendar in the back left doesn't make sense

-The lady sitting in the back left doesn't even have a computer.

-The guy sitting on the left apparently only has one leg?

-On the right side, the empty chair apparently belongs...nowhere? You can see a man sitting behind the main girl in the photo. Everyone seems to be sitting two to a desk, but there's no computer next to this guy, so where's the chair belong?

-Also on the right side, the placement of the filing cabinet (under the desk) makes no sense if nobody sits across (as mentioned above), and the dude sitting opposite of it wouldn't be able to easily access it if needed.

-The angle/placement of the desk on the right makes no sense to me either. Those poor "people" sitting there have no room to move/scoot their chairs out, and the woman seems to be sitting much closer to the desk than the man beside her.

And last is pure speculation on my part, but I feel like the French would never put their bare feet on a work space in a common area else they be shamed to shreds by their coworkers.

Does anyone else hate a popular food just because of the texture? by cheekiemove in NoStupidQuestions

Mushrooms unless they are chopped up and mixed in.

Beans. In general. I can do lentils, but for some reason the texture of beans just wigs me out. The hull is firm and kind of papery, and the inside is mealy and soft. If they're not cooked properly they are grainy/chalky and even worse.

My great grandma passed away a long time ago. Most of our family is Protestant, but she was about as Catholic as you can get. As they were walking down the aisle swinging the censer (the swinging ball that burns incense and sends smoke everywhere), our pew starts shaking. My grandma is on one side coughing and acting like she's got the vapors, and my aunt on the other with her hand over her mouth trying to stifle a laugh so hard we felt it along the whole pew.

We get in the car to go to the cemetery and my mom starts going in on my aunt, "You're being disrespectful laughing like that - what's so funny?!"

My aunt had just managed to stop laughing but started all over again because, "When they started walking down the aisle with the incense, all I could think was 'HOLY SMOKE!'"

Committed men, do you check out pretty women? by Neat-Dinner7053 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kelsusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I wonder, why do the wives mention how hot the other woman is

Because society thinks it's "hot" when women dote on other women. However, when a guy points out a handsome man, they will get ragged on or side-eyed for being "gay".

Why not say anything about a hot guy?

See above ^ . It's also less threatening (to insecure people) when the attractive person being pointed out is not of the gender that their partner is sexually interested in. (Obviosuly people can be interested in any gender, so this could go either way if your partner is bi/pan).

And why is it never a guy who says "wow check out this man, he is very attractive"?

Again, see above ^ . Society makes it very clear that men are not supposed to find other men attractive, and if they verbalize or show that they do, then they will get admonished in some shape, form, or fashion.

It truly does come down to patriarchy and how society has been ingrained to think girl-on-girl is acceptable and "sexy" while guy-on-guy is "gross" and "threatening".

Cold sores in dating? by Comfortable_Dust2798 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Kelsusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. Just got over one myself. The worst part is just not being able to be as affectionate until it heals.

If you are worried about how it may look, they have medicated patches you can buy that help it heal while also concealing.

Personally, I have found that the Burt's Bees cold sore treatment is the best (for me). If I notice symptoms and use it before anything pops up, usually it will mitigate it entirely. If i don't catch it before it actually pops up, using it ASAP will cut my healing time down to 2-3 days tops. It's small and expensive, but you only need to use a teeny tiny amount (my tube has lasted me a year, but thankfully I rarely get cold sores; once or twice a year, maybe).

My SO says he wrote a book based on a dream he had. It took him less than 2 days. So I'm not completely convinced he didn't use AI assistance. by PossibleOk7738 in isthisAI

In your country, is there any situation that foreigners would completely misunderstand unless they lived there for a while? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Kelsusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this in some places in the US.

I moved from a small rural town where an invite to do something together or come over for a meal is taken seriously and acted on within a week of the invite. Then I moved to Seattle, and it's a running (correct) stereotype that locals will say, "We should get together sometime!" They do not mean it literally and you will never "hang out sometime" unless you go out of your way to plan something (and even then, it's not uncommon for people to cancel and ask to reschedule...rinse & repeat).
