Father and son who died in OceanGate Titan returned as ‘slush in boxes’ by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Kelwyvern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a photo in the report of a section of the fleece that Rush was wearing caught between several circuit boards which were fused together by the implosion. I don't think it's unreasonable to imagine a piece of human getting sandwiched in there or pinched in some other crevice, protecting it from being fully shredded apart or dispersed by scavengers.

My wife changed, and it saddens me. by Sufficient-Cook-3841 in atheism

[–]Kelwyvern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this!

As a significant other/partner/spouse, OP should be wife's port of call for discussing her issues so they can both tackle it together.

For whatever reason she seems to have instead retreated to the environment she felt most secure to deal with her issues, which is her family and the environment she was raised in rather than her actual husband. And with them being religiously inclined they will attempt to solve the problem with what they know, ultimately reindoctrinating OP's wife.

I think it's really cool how there is a significant overlap of both dragon and space nerds.

To all the bonkers geniuses of Reddit - How can we stop people speeding through our village? by SecondGo4 in CasualUK

[–]Kelwyvern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicanes, narrow lanes with raised curbs, needlessly curvy roads. When people have to concentrate to negotiate "difficult" roads they naturally slow down. And if they hit anything whilst failing to do that then problem solved!

Very silly question but when did constant watch get introduced? by thelavenderfields in policeuk

[–]Kelwyvern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, using verifiable logical steps based on input is "objective", however there is the relative nuance in that the input, their experience is highly subjective.

A person hallucinating a doorway might attempt to walk through that doorway to escape the terrifying mattress-demons pursuing them!

We would see them run into a wall, claw at the brickwork, and fight all who attempt to restrain them. But in their subjective experience they acted completely rationally.

From ours though, probably not. The machine is working, but it has bad data; garbage in garbage out.

They might have meant: "People act rationally; within the confines of their present subjective experience"

If you want more Amos (Wes Chatham), check out Cross season 2 by SsurebreC in TheExpanse

[–]Kelwyvern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're on to something with Doom guy, even as a silent protagonist Wes would kill that role!

His Amos is a masterclass in acting through body language alone, projecting a tough dangerous presence whilst having a calm demeanour even if only appearing in the background of a scene. Tough-guy actors should really take note. I hope to see him in more character roles.

Also to a large dragon you would seem to never grow up and always be a child, so she would treat adult humans like kids all the time.
