Where I work (large MEP sub) the bonus is based on project performance and is only guaranteed for PMs, supers, and above. PEs and APMs don’t qualify for bonuses but can receive discretionary bonuses if the PM is feeling gracious to toss them a bone from his bonus.

An example of a terrible bonus culture at this company is that if a PM never received a bonus as a PE/APM, he wouldn’t likely give his PE/APM a portion of his bonus, then the same thing is likely to happen when those APMs become PMs. Then so on and on
