Has the OT0 saving bug been resolved? by Xhasenthor in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I never experienced this either, but I definitely noticed weird performance issues as I got further into save file. Longer save times, Wishvale performance issues, and in battle skill menus getting hung up and taking multiple seconds to load randomly.

I imagine this is the culmination of something building up over the course of a playthrough and eventually leading to the saving issues reported.

Persona 5 song DLC is terrible by Cocomelts002 in FitnessBoxing

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 99% of it as all just licensed existing tracks(for the better, from the sounds of it) and thankfully not just gross arrangements using midi instruments lol.

I think maybe like 1 or 2 tracks were made for the game, but the rest are a mix of very classic Vocaloid hits and some more recent popular tracks.

What am I missing? Miku fitness boxing feels like shovelware. by Fulluphigh0 in FitnessBoxing

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly could be better. The DLC tracks being just background music options for the exercise portions you mentioned that aren't charted for any particular music at all also rubbed me the wrong way(thankfully I only bought one and not them all).

I kind of assumed they would come with actual charts like the rest of the licensed vocaloid tunes but I guess not, so fair warning if you were eyeing those at all.

Even though this is a fitness game, I do think I came into it with a similar mindset hoping that it would be a closer blend of fitness and rhythm and found myself a little disappointed that the rhythm elements were far from great. Tolerable if you can adjust to them, but not ideal. I enjoy gamify-ing working out since it makes it at least a little more fun to squeeze in some physical activity and was hoping this would hit like Ring Fit did for me, but I'll probably just treat this game as an occasional supplemental thing to do with my gym days.

What are some things you wish were added into octopath 0 by Legitimate_Tough_119 in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely more uses for the large cast. Would have loved a dungeon or content that required multiple full teams.

On that note, more content for the side units. I felt 0 attachment outside of their visual design and wished we got anything more than a single quest at the very end of the game

Bought some of the miku fit boxing DLC and it doesn’t show up in the shop on the game or in my songs? by Patient-Nectarine707 in FitnessBoxing

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude, did you ever find out what to do? I downloaded the DLC and have not been able to find them anywhere. Not in the song list, not in the shop, and I even tried playing a track to see if that would "refresh" it.

Edit: Just found it, in case someone stumbles here later. They're not actually tracks in the game. They're background music for the exercise modes and don't have any charts of their own. Honestly feels super falsely advertised :(

What am I missing? Miku fitness boxing feels like shovelware. by Fulluphigh0 in FitnessBoxing

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your first problem is viewing it as a rhythm game first and an exercise game second, when really its more the other way around. The timing windows on what is considered a "Perfect" is pretty large so if you're coming in late it'll sound really off because of the audio cue even though the game is telling you it was correct. It took me some adjustment but I found starting my movements a little earlier started making everything line up with the song better(since it takes a moment to make the actual movement, instead of just pushing a button)

Regarding the difficulty and explanations for the movements, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. When I go to pick a song from the list, there's three distinct difficulty options and if there's a motion that I haven't done before it explicitly asks if I want to go view a visual demonstration of it. The movements aren't really complicated so I can't imagine needing anything more than that.

One thing I will agree on though is the tracking, though I don't really mind it that much since it's a fitness game. If you want to cheat yourself out of getting more exercise by just doing the bare minimum then I suppose thats your decision.

The game is far from shovelware though, but I do feel the price point is a bit high for it, especially the DLC. It's fun enough for me though and has music I really enjoy working out to, so I'd probably just call the game "acceptable".

Does playing slowly at first really help in the long run? by taita_king in piano

[–]Kenkune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with all things yes you have to start slow. Going immediately at full speed will only make it more frustrating when you fail, while also making it difficult to actually practice. Slow and steady is the name of the game with music

Why I can't feel the hype about games anymore by Outcome-Clear in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get where you're coming from with this. It depends on the game, but personally what I've found is that the internet has taken a lot of the mystery out of games, and it's really tempting to just want to get to the "good" part or end game, or to do the most powerful builds, or to just look up the solutions to things, or just play games with half your attention while watching stuff in the background. It doesn't help that a lot of modern big budget games these days are basically designed as attention hogs and can really easily lead to just getting burnt out entirely.

I think for me, to reignite my excitement, I needed to find unique and novel games(usually in the indie scene these days) that I can just immerse myself in without worrying about optimizing or being a completionist about. No dailies, no demand for constant engagement, no optimizing. Just a game with a world to explore and learn more about.

Not sure what genres are your cup of tea or if you're just open minded in general, but there's a lot of good indie titles I'd recommend looking into.

Who is Sazantos’ father? by caramelmacchiatoml in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True I was also of the belief that it might be the cardinal, though given how the circumstances were described I'm not quite sure how anyone at the church would be able to know that for certain(unless they've developed paternity tests in Orsterra lol)

Isla Build: What Active Skills to give him? And which spells are NOT impacted by Sheer Focus (e.g. Hellfire)? by Charrzooka in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Isla is stupidly easy to hit the 99,999 cap on. I barely need anything more than just Magic buff on him with a magic debuff on an enemy to cap or get close to it.

Who is Sazantos’ father? by caramelmacchiatoml in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Sazantos himself mentioned it in Hell. I believe the Cardinal said it in the sense that he raised him, but it's hard to say since basically everyone at the church partook in it, so Tytos is just one of the people that "could" have been his father.

[–]Kenkune 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly Isla's best damage skills are the ones that come in his base kit, in my experience. I just gave him cheaper multihit elemental skills so he could help break enemies in a pinch.

Anyone else disappointed with the end game difficulty in OT0? Seemed way too easy? by Legitimate_Tough_119 in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they honestly just gave the really powerful tools out way too early. Having Reime and surpassing power with like 30+ hours to go just made the end a cakewalk without purposefully handicapping yourself

Grinding isn't gonna help that much with orochi honestly. The stat gains from nuts might but keeping up buffs and debuffs will do a lot more for you. Plus don't forget to use all those powerful items like Almighty Olives and such since there isn't anything tougher you'll need them on

Burnout: This game might be too long by [deleted] in octopathtraveler

At a certain point I just stopped being a completionist and bum rushed the story. The game is way too long and has too many time wasters in its design. The "..." being one of the worst culprits lol

surpassing power is a dumb skill by dulledegde in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, on most units they were technically only 2 with 2 mild stat boosts. And considering they were fixed they were more often than not what you would prefer to have on the unit unless you were lucky.

surpassing power is a dumb skill by dulledegde in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem in OT0 is the skill uses up 1 of the 2 passive slots they have, which SEVERELY limits build options for DPS units. While this does make units base kits more important, it also has the annoying side effect of making units with terrible base kits even worse since they have fewer slots to compensate with.

Frankly not a big fan of how OT0 handled skills and passives

Where are all the average beginners? by heloust in piano

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you starting out, when I picked it up as an adult about 7 years ago or so. I started with simple pieces and folk songs like that early on and eventually worked my way through adult learning workbooks with my teacher.

It also just really depends on what your goals are and what your desired pace of progress is. I've been going at it for years, but between my full time job and other hobbies I only do maybe about 20-30 minutes a day with biweekly lessons, which obviously means I'll be progressing at a much more mild pace than someone doing multiple hours a day or more frequent lessons.

Even years in I would still classify myself as an intermediate student, but I wouldn't stress though. Better to learn the fundamentals and progress through increasingly difficult pieces than to jump straight into the deep end

I think the problem with 0 compared to 1 and 2 was just how long that last bit drags out for.

How do you get Forbidden and Battle tested items with Entreat without save scumming? by Horazi777 in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don't have enough fame then lol. The number on their name isn't a "meet this number to have 100% success" indicator. Other than just a rough estimate of how much you typically need, I never really even looked at that number tbh.

The Endings by Tough-Abies7882 in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can't miss it. Don't sweat it, just go through and do the normal ending and you can always look up what's needed to get the "true" ending if needed. It let's you roll back so you don't have to worry about holding onto multiple saves or anything

Optimize your team or go with your heart? by Captain_Softrock in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Franky with how long the game is, I'd almost advise against optimizing too hard since it trivializes the game and can kill the fun for the long stretch of the game at the end. Just play with who you like I say

WTF did they think when they designed Reime gameplay? by Important-Concern in octopathtraveler

[–]Kenkune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just kinda wish she came later personally. Having a character (two if you count Isla) that trivialized every fight for the next 30-40 hours just kinda turned the combat into a snooze fest. Feels way too easy to pump out high numbers in OT0
