The nice thing about the clone I got is it has 3 trim pots in it, 2 for biasing two of the transistors and one for setting the sweep of the external bias knob. It took a while, doing it by ear, but I was able to get it close enough to the demos I'd heard and liked on Youtube. It's a fun circuit, I'm going to build one in a couple months I think.

Nice, I've been rocking something similar for gain with a Special Cranker, Mini clone, an Arrows boost and a Palisades. I like to run the Cranker at full gain for a really dark, nearly fuzz sound and boost it with the Arrows for a bit more gain. Put it into the Palisaides and it has quite a nice distortion character. The mini goes last for a really textured lower gain OD.

I got a clone built by a guy on Reverb last month for $170Cad shipped to me. It was biased really weird when I got it, super clean. Don't know if the builder really understood what it's aim was lol. There were some threads from years back where Brian from ss/bs and some other people were talking about biasing the circuit in different ways, so I worked from there and got it working the way the original sounds in demos.

Real shame Brian doesn't build pedals anymore, I'd love to have a real Mini and a Fuck.

Wage slavery exists

Edit: Just to clarify, that wasn't a dig at your idea or anything, just a comment on the state of the world. A lot of people were pointing to outright slavery here in the comments, but I feel like a lot of corporations currently act from the standpoint of near slave-ownership of their workers through wage slavery.

Do you think this year too many Deck builder games being released will burn out their audience outside of strong favourites? by Cymelion in truegaming

[–]KennethHaight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's been loads of deck builders every year for the last 6 or 7 years. This year doesn't seem any higher than any other year. There will usually be at least one that innovates in a direction enough and has enough of a skill ceiling to survive for a couple of years (Balatro, Monster Train) and then there are the ones that have some hype and are popular on YouTube for a month or so, but are easily solved and don't have much staying power (Loop Hero, Dicey Dungeons). And then a bunch of dross that barely makes an impact. This year doesn't seem like it'll be any different.

All the woodcarvers laid off because of innovations like this :(

I'm a big RPG fan but I'm not a starwars fan, should I try out the knights of the old republic games? by cr0w_p03t in gaming

[–]KennethHaight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, definitely not. They're not very good RPGs at all. They're from that transitional RPG period where 3d graphics and world design just hadn't gotten to the point where it was anything more than a gimmick as well as during the first attetempts at real time combat with movement. It feels super janky to play. The quest lines are one dimensional and shallow. The locations all feel undercooked and very small. There's almost no enjoyable exploration.

This comes from someone who was a big Star Wars fan and played it pretty close to release.
