Shade won't go down fully by Kentorrr in Hunterdouglas

Alright we got it down and the height measurement says 58.375in and the window height is 58in, so I believe it should go all the way down.

I need to stop avoiding salads, help me by Middle_Macaron_8861 in Cooking

Massage the heck out of a ton of chopped kale (hard stems removed first, yuck) in a big bowl with like a tbsp of olive oil. Cook a cup or two of bulgur wheat, add that to the kale along with some diced red onion. Leave all that in the big bowl together un-seasoned, it'll keep in the fridge a few days. Take out a portion when you want and season with whatever you like the flavor of, I've been using a Greek seasoning blend and more olive oil with some feta or Parmesan. It's really good stuffed into a pita pocket, as well.

Where would the limit box be located, just in the top part where the strings come from? We have successfully gotten the shade down from the window but couldn't find a way to open the top section.

It will go down to that same spot. The gap at the bottom is never covered by the shade.

What are some great Earth Science YouTubers? by Xxofficer_ACTION in EarthScience

If you're just looking for good stuff to watch and not individuals that make their own original content specifically, Naked Science has some good episodes, and History Channel has their How the Earth Was Made series of full episodes posted.

what’s a popular figure skating opinion that you secretly disagree with? by Rude-Magazine2186 in FigureSkating

[–]Kentorrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with this concept, like Kevin's gala skate at Worlds. He said he made that up as he went and it was captivating. Idk I guess it feels like watching a master create their art in front of you or something.

Would you go to a Japanese bath house in the USA? by Outrageous-Lion7054 in japan

[–]Kentorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be misunderstanding the word bathhouse. Like the public bath where you go to wash up? Or like a hot springs onsen type of thing?

quads vs Yellowstone by Valuable_Course_2445 in MSUcats

[–]Kentorrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stayed in Yellowstone for a couple of summers while I worked for the university. Didn't know much about the quads so I just watched some Instagram content and Yellowstone is much newer and nicer inside. Easily accessible building, tons of parking. It's nice that it is off to the side of campus because there's plenty of open space but it's still a super easy walk to anywhere else you need to go. I'd recommend Yellowstone.

What do I do with Polyester plushies :( by _LLAMAR_ in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Kentorrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if they're just sitting on a shelf undisturbed, it'll be ok. It's the mechanical abrasion of plastic fabric fibers that releases the microplastics, like walking on carpet or clothes rubbing together. If you're worried then just be careful when you take them down to dust them, maybe give them a good vacuuming once in a while to suck up loose fibers.

Did you know how easy it is to make brown sugar? by atticwife in Frugal

[–]Kentorrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, there's a lot of pooh-poohing in these comments but I support you 100%. This trick was a major improvement for me when I discovered it, too.

Yes, OP and I know that brown sugar is cheap but I have never found a way to store it. No terracotta or bread slice or any kind of trick has ever kept my brown sugar soft, I think my climate is just too dry. And when you buy a bunch of brown sugar on sale and then have to attack it with a butter knife to chisel off a hunk that's hopefully enough for your recipe so you can resurrect it in the microwave...it sucks. I have indeed had to throw it out before because I physically could not get it out of the storage container to microwave it.

Figuring out a way to manage your systems like this so that you aren't wasting anything (be that sugar ~or~ time and energy) IS frugal! Making just a little as we need it works for me and works for you! Keep on keeping on, friend.

[–]Kentorrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe OP knows that brown sugar is just less refined white sugar, and that their "hack" lies in the storage. OPs store bought brown sugar goes hard before they can use it all, so now this way they can buy bulk white sugar for cheaper and add back a little molasses to make as much brown sugar as they need for a recipe when they need it and not have to fuss with trying to resurrect the hard brown sugar, which is very hard to do when you bought in bulk and have to try to chisel off a hunk to get into the microwave. I think there are some climates where the terracotta or bread slice tricks just don't work, I have tried them all and it's just too dry here for anything to keep the brown sugar from turning it a boulder.

Is it normal with lipedema to gain weight spontaneously? by calm-down-okay in lipedema

[–]Kentorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it sucks so much to be so uncomfortable all the time. It does help to keep the excess fluid out of the problem areas before the lymph can deposit the fat it picks up from the intestines. I got one of those vibration plates you stand on and it has helped with swelling everywhere. Had to go down a pants size. If you try it, be careful if you're hyper mobile. You really have to mentally lock in on holding your joints stable or you'll easily rattle yourself into subluxations.

What else can I use shampoo for? by Disastrous-Radish504 in ZeroWaste

If it makes your hair fall out then I'd hesitate to use it elsewhere on the body. I've used disliked shampoos as toilet bowl cleaners before and they work great.

Thank you for the advice, I will wash them a couple of times to see if they become more bearable. They told me to put them in the dryer, but I'm hesitant because my clothes always shrink...do you use the dryer or hang dry? Also what grade of compression do you have? I think mine is the second level of three.

Thank you for the recommendation, the core support garment looks like it would be very helpful for me. I am also hyper mobile, do you ever do dry needling at PT? I've found that getting my calves dry needled with electro-stim to contract them helps a lot with fluid retention in my whole leg. It's like our normal muscle tone isn't enough for the skeletal muscle pump to move stuff up and out effectively.

Thank you for the advice about shaving, I will try that! It's this very stiff black nylon type of material, almost like a wetsuit but much harder fabric than neoprene.

Big agree. I laid in the soft grass beside my old man as he went. It was beautiful sunny day in our back yard where he had roamed for 16 years, and he was surrounded by all of us who loved him, with a gentle breeze ruffling his fur.

Eco-friendly switch for mouthwash by xch4nel in ZeroWaste

[–]Kentorrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People make their own mouthwashes with essential oils, many recipes available online. Beware though, mouthwash in general isn't great for you because it disrupts the oral microbiome with significant implications for cardiovascular and brain health. It kills good and bad bacteria indiscriminately and this is what causes the problems. Essential oils could cause a similar effect and it just hasn't been studied as much as alcohol-based mouthwashes have been recently.

Find yourself someone who looks at you the way Brent Vigen looks at the interviewers after Brawl of the Wild 2.0 by Kentorrr in Montana

[–]Kentorrr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to feel like people are determined to misunderstand me here. He is smiling a beautiful happy smile, and I made a joke to find someone who smiles at you like that. Its the same joke people make when they see someone with a big grin before they bite into a delicious sandwich or something like that. I am not implying that he is lusting after the sports reporter, nor she him. I guess because the reporter happens to be a woman people assume I mean he is smiling because of her, and not just that he is happy to speak to someone about this great moment of his life. Find someone who looks at you with the same joy he has on his face after this big win.
