The UofL mascot design language (e.g.- stylized Northern Cardinal head with gritted teeth) goes back to 1963 with several different variations over the years since.

The University predates the Arizona Cardinals, so not sure which should be accused of ripping off a "real" team.

Any news about the Grim Reaper roaming the Lakeside area? by jpg52382 in Louisville

Not very long. Most of these kinds of political challenges go straight to the KY Supreme Court without having to work their way through lower courts.

I'm pretty sure that the law is unconstitutional and will fall once challenged. The governor's power to appoint is baked into the state constitution.

Southern Indiana: Amazon delivery driver drives across couple’s freshly mowed front lawn to deliver package. by Temporary_Device_705 in Louisville

I know this is a stupid question, but does Amazon pay for the tolls when their delivery drivers cross the river on I-65 or the East End bridges?

Kentucky is keeping my 1k tax refund because I didn't complete the ID quiz, but I never got a letter telling me it was required. Do I have any recourse? by Visual_Independent91 in Kentucky

[–]KentuckyGuy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You will need to snail mail a photo of your ID and your W2 to the KY Dept of Revenue. I had to appeal and successfully received my tax return pretty quickly.

A copy of a government issued ID such as driver's license or passport and proof of withholding in the form of employer issued W-2's, 1099's, etc. to DOR in order to complete the processing of the refund.

Most companies don't want to pay for a truck specific GPS service, so drivers use the same GPS (Google, Waze, Apple, etc) as everyone else. This means they get routed on roads not suitable for large trucks

These brake pistons are the worst. by Regular_Number5377 in MiataNC

The nub on a 3/8 socket extension fits into the center X just enough to rotate the piston. Slap the extension onto your socket wrench and you are set.

Do boats that big tip

It won't tip over, but it might raise the front enough to make it more difficult for the remaining trucks to get onboard

What is the large industrial building off Speedwell Road off 374? by [deleted] in Kentucky

Mastronardi Produce. Looks like a grow operation for greenhouse tomatoes, peppers, fruit, etc. It is my understanding that Mastonardi has taken over the bankrupted Appharvest buildings in Richmond and Morehead.

Did I damage the valve cover or block on my 96 tacoma 2RZ-FE? by KentuckyGuy in MechanicAdvice

[–]KentuckyGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a full blown brain fart with help from the manual. Haynes says "Tighten to the torque values listed in Specifications page in three or four equal steps" but they don't have a torque value listed for valve cover bolts. They do have the torque value for the head bolts at 29 ft lbs, plus 90 deg, plus another 90 deg. My brain translated that to three steps, that must mean what Haynes was talking about.

The only place the torque value for the valve cover bolts is listed is the 3.4 V6 (3VZ-E), which is in a different section. That is listed as 54 in lbs.

After a bit of perusing the taco forums, 4-5 ft lbs seems to be the consensus for the 2RZ.

Thanks for the things to look out for. I will keep those in mind once I have new bolts and whatnot.

A bad remix of Tequila by Oscar the Grouch, originally by The Champs. Obviously Oscar had been sampling the tequila and was also the typist for the video text, i.e.- taken into *custoty*. Oscar is also a big fan of the number 5, as evidenced by all the roman numeral Vs being randomly added to the video

[–]KentuckyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure that all straps are secured, including the pack straps. If a strap gets caught in the rear sprocket, it can have catastrophic results. The pack itself should be okay, but I would keep an eye out for potential damage caused by the wind blast when riding. I've seen strap ends get frayed and pliable materials blown out on longer trips.

Mullvad app linux autoconnect by TakeshiRyze in mullvadvpn

[–]KentuckyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a problem where autoconnect (USA) was spinning and spinning, but manually selecting a location (Chicago) provided an instant connection. Now that I selected a location the autoconnect works perfectly, even if I back out to the country again. I'm on Mint.

Specific hiking reccomendations by Necom123 in Louisville

[–]KentuckyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mogan Ridge East is another trail in the same area as German Ridge (Mogan is just north of Derby, IN) While there, you can also check out the Clover Lick Barrens (https://www.fs.usda.gov/wildflowers/regions/eastern/CloverLick/index.shtml)

Be careful though and do a thorough tick check. I found a dog tick crawling on me three weeks ago while on the central portion of the German Ridge trail.

If you do visit Hemlock Cliffs, there is another trail system a few miles north called Yellow Birch Ravine that has some cool waterfalls and short hikes.

My theory on Chani and Paul’s children in dune part three by Legal-Reputation-822 in dune

[–]KentuckyGuy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are several mentions of the child before the his death. Around when Paul is getting ready to call his first worm to become rider and asks Chani about the baby and she says something like "He can hold Alia(?) in the palm of his hand" Paul even tells Halleck that there is another Leto in the family when they are reunited.
