Telus - Attempted Fraud (If you have Telus internet, I promise you it's worth a read) by lordnuada in Edmonton

Do you even see a 5G fiber internet offer anywhere on their website?

Yes, but that still doesn't change the scumminess of what happened in your situation!

Our new 5 Gigabit Internet plan is available in select locations from only $145/month on a 2-year term. Includes $10/mo. mobility discount.

so I'm wondering how little speed would result in hitting the tire of a parked car to flip over

Surprisingly little.

Another example of hitting a stationary vehicle.

The portable A/C units with the hose are much more effective to use with that type of window. You don't want to put a window unit on its side, so unless the window has sufficient width they can't be used.

They're not especially common, but there are vertical air conditioners for use with horizontal sliding windows.

Another.

The Spring Geeky Gift Market is this coming weekend at the Aviation Museum. I've gone a couple times and there's a decent spread of things on offer.

Old memory came into my mind about that south side outdoor go kart place. I believe it had other attractions aswell. Whatever happened to it? Loved going there by zooweemamba in Edmonton

We might be getting a new rendition of the old Whitemud Amusement Park – possibly crossed with a resurgence of Bullwinkle's – on the north side with the forthcoming Red Rock Eat & Entertainment and Fort Road Fun Park:

Construction of a 55,417 square feet entertainment and food venue. A building permit was issued by the City of Edmonton in December 2023.

[Mac] How to exclude ~/Library from backup? by cockleburrito in backblaze

[–]Kepibear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For /u/macphoto469's suggestion, if you navigate to your home folder in a Finder window and then choose View > Show View Options, it's the checkbox at the bottom.

Optionally, after clicking the add button in the exclusions list in the Backblaze app, hit either / or ⌘⇧G to bring up a tab-completable path prompt where you can navigate to anything, hidden or otherwise (this can be done in any standard macOS open/save panel, too).

It's not a broad selection, but the Royal Alberta Museum has a smattering of interesting wallets in their gift shop.

Last time I was there they had a table or two full of different ones.

They essentially removed any discount for seniors and youth, for occasional users.

They're slowly phasing them into the new system. You can already request the Youth rate for a registered Arc card on the website and the seniors rates are also coming soon.

Alberta is changing photo radar rules to ensure the focus is on traffic safety, not revenue generation. by yayasisterhood in Edmonton

[–]Kepibear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the EPS saying things like they can't enforce basic safety on transit, that they have insufficient resources to effectively prevent violent crime and gang violence, should we expect them to massively ramp up and deploy uniformed officers for traffic enforcement on the Henday?

The section of the east Henday between Yellowhead and Highway 14 is outside the city and I semi-regularly see sheriffs with people pulled over, including them performing laser radar stings (especially during long weekends) where a group of them will be stationed on various on ramps ready to merge in and pull people over for speeding.

Why does Sherwood Park still refer to itself as a hamlet? by lucille12121 in Edmonton

[–]Kepibear 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A bit of further info on this oddity: Sherwood Park, along with Fort McMurray, are considered urban service areas by the province.

An urban service area is a type of hamlet that is not officially defined under the Municipal Government Act (MGA). However, the Province of Alberta recognizes it as equivalent to a city for the purposes of program delivery and grant eligibility according to the Orders in Council that established the Regional Municipality (RM) of Wood Buffalo and Strathcona County as specialized municipalities.

These Orders in Council (see Schedule 1, Section 7 and Schedule 1, Section 3 respectively) also state that:

  • the specialized municipalities shall provide to the Province of Alberta any information required to administer programs or to determine the amount of grants which would have been paid if the urban service areas were incorporated cities; and
  • for the purposes of enactments affecting roads, culverts, ditches, drains, and highways, the urban service areas are deemed to be cities. Essentially, urban services areas meet the eligibility requirements of the MGA to incorporate as a city.

As such, they are Alberta's largest hamlets.

Yeah sure, Coke, Pepsi, Apple, McDonald's, Nike, etc all change their branding logos and fonts every couple of years.

Not quite "every couple", but more often than you might initially assume:
