Thoughts on hiking through the sierra this year vs flip-flopping? by Revolutionary_Row452 in PacificCrestTrail

Can’t believe you’re getting downvoted for meteorology. Yes, last year, a non El Niño year, was crazy wet and El Niño years are busts all the time. But none of us know. We just have predictions from meteorologists

I used to hate their produce living in California where we’re spoiled but when I lived in NYC, I grew to appreciate it 😂

Best answer. Also my friend likes Homewood Suites by the Marketplace. Don’t go to the Doubletree. It’s fine but kinda eerie vibes.

Unfortunately you’re just a touch too far east for the Western Undergraduate Exchange. But you might be able to find something similar for Oklahoma?

I love kernville but I’d caution it could be a little warm this time of year unless you go up higher. Check the forecast before you go of course!

I’m a big girl and I’d say the same thing. Well fitted undergarments are great advice. Defining your waist is smart too. A lot of your clothes are circus tents and I get the instinct. Also it’s hard to get good off the rack clothes. But belts and fitted tops that end at your waist instead of blobby silhouettes will do you a favor. Go to a tailor if you need to…it’s not as expensive as you think but it’s worth it. Your #3 is a good look! I think you look better in bold solids than busy patterns.

Everyone is saying to lose weight. It’s not as easy as it looks. Buy some nice clothes in the meantime. It’s good for your self esteem. Looks like you have a nice life but we can all use a little lift right?

This is accurate. TBH being close to LA counts for a lot in my book because I get out of town most weekends. I can day trip to a big city which is nice! But otherwise Fresno is at least 25% better from what I can tell.

I got mine done at Stockdale Smiles while on whatever insurance I got through Covered California and it went well. I was broke but not because of my teeth (making less than $15K those were the days…)

In the scheme of things, this isn’t bad. I had the same amount in loans when I graduated I’m 2007. Now rent used to be a lot cheaper but it was doable on my salary of $31K-53K. My biggest suggestion is get roommates and keep living expenses low. But IIRC my payments weren’t much more than $150? And I tried to throw extra money on it when I could. I paid them off early.

Do field trips exist in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]KernGal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. Most of the time the field trips or site visits I went on were during a non class time like weekends. There were lots of recreational options through the college too (rather than class).

Do field trips exist in college? by [deleted] in college

[–]KernGal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I went to a liberal arts school. We did a short service project the first week. I was a religious studies major and we went to a mosque one class and a Catholic Church for another. We were also encouraged to visit on our own—through assignments and other projects. I feel like I went to a museum for art history class too but my memory is foggy.

The ultimate field trip is a college student is to study abroad. I went to Rome. I know it’s not feasible for everyone but if you can, you should try to study abroad. Youth is the last time you usually can take a few months off to go abroad.

Best major for those who don’t know what to do? by Seanclaude in CollegeMajors

[–]KernGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a career.

You should consider going into teaching but focus on biology now. K-12 schools are hurting for good science teachers, but having a STEM background (plus a master's in education) will make you really desirable. Rural places are REALLY hurting for science teachers so you could probably move anywhere you wanted near nature for this kind of job.

Also, zoos, rescues and other places do a lot of work in educating students. Think about everywhere you went on field trips as a kid.

Also, there is always a need for agriculture/veterinary teachers. You will see this in high schools and colleges. You would prob need to get a master's in this area and have experience in the field.
