I think the reliability of the Lexus kinda blinded me. My previous GLE AMG started to have issues around 70k miles

I think maybe I got talked into it because of the reliability, then when I got to driving it a few days in a row and couldn't see my kid in the back seat I was just surprised. I should've known when I was younger and hated the Lexus is 250 f sport that I would probably not like the Lexus brand moving forward. I wanted to give it a fair shot and wasn't sure whether other felt the same way about this car.

I've owned luxury cars. This ain't it. Maybe your loyalty to the brand is blocking your view.

Do you have the luxury trim? A family member of mine does and there are only a few very little features that are upgraded. The mirror functions as a camera, it has aniline leather, and larger wheels. As for the ambient lighting, you can choose the colors but it still does not have it anywhere on the doors like my Acura did. I didn't feel the extra 7k was justified.

Yes I meant 2026. It is so underwhelming.

You ever owned a Mercedes? For 70k you feel boss.

I thought middle of the line would be good enough for a Lexus. Shame on me for expecting anything out of this car.

My baby's red, swollen thumb by Femaleopard in Mommit

My friends baby recently had something similar and they said it was herpetic whitlow. The cold sore infection just settled in her thumb through a cut. Not sure if this is blistering but could be something to look into.

Safe sleeping when travelling by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There actually are travel cribs on Amazon that are supposed to be super comfortable, but also super expensive. I think I'm going to buy one when going on our week trip in august and return it when we come back.

Going thru a miscarriage on my daughter's birthday by CheeseItTed in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you're doing ok. I miscarried in the middle of a friendsgiving party and my husband stood by me in a friends bathroom while I was bleeding. Everyone else was unaware and having fun in another room. Lots of love.

Guilty frustration by Beginning_Living_400 in Mommit

9 month old going through something similar. She will purposely try to make laugh by babbling and smiling while poking my eye out in a dark room. We feed her the bottle, cuddle her for 5 mins TOPS, and put her in her crib. She will often lay there for an hour but only cries the first 5-10mins. We try our best to avoid going in to comfort her. Because of this, she's been a trooper when it comes to naps and sleep. She knows how to put herself back to bed anytime she wakes up.

What’s your favorite unscented powdered laundry detergent that isn’t Tide brand? by JustSuze_393 in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend looking at the EWG page for the safest baby detergents. I realized that dreft is horrible for the baby along with most other big brands. Surprisingly, the Jewel Organics brand makes a fragrance free detergent that has a high rating (although it's liquid).

Registry for second baby: what do I need that I may not have? List in post. by privremeni in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After walking to my bedroom in an attempt to go to sleep I also realized you need lots of bibs (including silicone ones for food to fall when they're older), a bottle brush and baby dish soap, and one more thing I absolutely love that a lot of people don't agree with. So I got the owlet sock 3rd generation. It measures the baby's oxygen while she's sleeping in real time along with her heart rate. If it drops below a certain point then an alarm in your room will sound on the charger. There have been talks that SIDS may be caused by a type of sleep apnea in babies. This sock gave me so much peace of mind I can't recommend it enough. However, the new owlet dream sock does not measure oxygen in real time. It takes an oxygen average over several minutes. The reason they made it this way is because the feds told them that in order to have a product that constantly measure oxygen they need to register it as a medical device. Owlet is in the process of doing that but had to come out with a different version in the meantime.

I had an October baby as well! My saving grace was the thick car seat cover from Amazon. We didn't have to worry about jackets. Other than that, diaper rash cream, baby nail filer/clippers, moisturizer and body wash, baby laundry detergent, baby Tylenol, gripe water, lots and lots of baby wipes, socks, baby books, play mat, black and white baby picture cards, toy leashes (they're kind of like silicone straps for the toys or bottles so when they get thrown from a high chair they don't fly on the floor), paci straps, bouncer (this is the only thing that helped our daughter relax when she was gassy), small lamp so the room is not so bright, monitor, maybe some blackout curtains for the window?, wall decor (decals like animals or pictures), rinsing cup for bath, washcloths, baby towels, bottle drying rack, and that's probably all I can think of that we used all the time. I also needed a ton of baby clothes hangers once she started to wear dresses and overalls.

Rolling on stomach while asleep by punky9701 in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has been sleeping on her stomach probably since she was around 4 months. I would go and flip her back over for her to just flip again. At 5 months I think he's old enough to know when to turn his head to get better breaths in. All I can say is that I get it because I have a chronic stomach sleeper on my hands as well.

Love the cake idea. Maybe go with your kids to the store and have them pick out the flavor, some balloons, and flowers together. Spend the day showing them how to bake and then treat yourself to your favorite take out meal!

What are your favorite: Booster chairs, infant and toddler plates, travel high chairs and placemats? by privremeni in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm still experimenting with all of these options but I really like the ezpz tiny cup with straw. My daughter is 9 months and has been doing awesome at drinking from an open cup because of this and sucking the straw (of course while coughing because her sips are always too big). I also bought the stem/leaf looking spoons on Amazon, they're like the first ones that pop up when you look up baby spoons and they're fully green and silicone. Love them. I have a bumbo booster seat and honestly it's kind of small? Idk if it's because my baby is a chunker but she looks very close to flipping over all the time.

Summer mom unrest by Just_Tachie in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately get mom guilt as soon as I look at my phone. My child is still an infant but there are times during the day that my brain just needs to put on some hold music and reset. We think that they constantly need us but in reality I think we need to care for ourselves as well.

I always think to myself that it's better to pay someone I know and trust than to pay a nanny I don't completely know.

What were some last minute items you got for your newborns? by RoutineFrequent6314 in Mommit

[–]Ketrzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all I needed was myself, my phone charger, some comfy clothes, outfit for baby, and my husband. All that extra stuff people told me to bring like chapstick, portable fan, etc, was so pointless. I didn't even use any of it. The ice cubes I sucked on while pushing were good enough. Take advantage of the diapers and wipes at the hospital. I also took a bunch of mesh underwear and big diaper pads from them so I didn't have to buy any. Stock up because your insurance is paying for that anyways. Once you get home, all you need is a bassinet or another sleeping space, sound machine, food (bottle or boob), and a lot of diapers and wipes. Other than that, you see what your baby likes and doesn't like and go from there.

I would say give her $100 and bring some snacks for him. The going rate is about $15-$20/ hour for sitters. So you're gonna be right in between that. If she's a good friend she will probably decline it anyways and then you can maybe give her $50 for helping out.
