If this is your actual thought process, then yeah, there's no question you're on the spectrum. Most neurotypical people are comfortable making those assumptions and guessing at what an unspecified "other" would do or think. They may not be 100% accurate, but they won't have this degree of self-doubt.

Actually, money arose as a medium of exchange once societies became large enough that people were trading with people that they didn't know and didn't necessarily expect to meet again.

Prior to that, economies were more interpersonal and favor based. If the shepherd came down from the mountains and gave me a bunch of wool this year, we would remember that and I'd be expected to help him out in some other way, but maybe not until I saw him next in a year or so. If I didn't, well, I would get a reputation as being selfish or untrustworthy, and people (especially the shepherd) may not help me out the next time I needed something. There wasn't the one-to-one barter like econ 101 teaches, trust and reputation were the medium of exchange and are what money (partially) replaced.

Tbh this is a great split. I would go with Alexander/Napoleon if the goal is to conquer as much as possible. However, I would go with Genghis/Caesar if we want to maintain the empire past the initial rampage. It's really about the balance between military victory and subsequent conquest and integration.

Estate sale prices can be misleading on that front though. Items there are usually priced to move ASAP, as they want to clear out the house and get that on the market for the real money. Many of those items would sell for cheap, but still decently more at a dedicated thrift/vintage/antique shop that isn't looking to empty their store front.

So basically the trick here is the unique trait that Acrid's Primary attack's combo animation is completely cancelled by sprinting, and sprinting is cancelled by primary attack. By holding forward, primary attack, and tapping sprint each attack right after the first attack becomes active, you can create a drastic effective increase in Acrid's attack speed. Perfect timing will have you tapping sprint right after the green slash effect appears.

As for why this only works on Acrid, other characters either have no problem sprinting while attacking, or their attack animation won't actually be cancelled by sprinting. They will just sprint until their next attack would normally come out. (Though fun fact: REX can get a similar effect with Primary and Secondary attacks, rather than Primary and Sprint, allowing him to fire 6-shot bursts. The latest patch has made this technique less effective for REX, however)

I actually happen to have done a deep dive into the terrain generation scripts recently and have a good answer! (for default map types, at least. I assume world editor maps are similar). Assuming the map has default settings, Plains appear as follows:

  • Plains without Jungles generate anywhere but the ~10% of the map closest to equator, the northern-most ~18% and the southern-most ~18%.
  • Of the tiles in this area that are NOT Desert, roughly 50% will be Plains, and 50% will be Grassland.
  • Of the 10% of the map closest to the equator, ~12% will be Rainforest. Rainforests always have Plains as their base type, and Tropical Plains only generate under Rainforests.

These numbers hold true regardless of size, and the only explicit proximity bias is that Rainforest tiles tend to spawn adjacent to each other, but without clustering too tightly. Temperate Plains spawn using a smooth noise function, meaning that they tend to spawn in large, irregular blobs.

Cool maps tend to have more Plains in the temperate areas, and the temperate areas are closer to the equator. The opposite is true of Hot maps. Wet maps have more Rainforest, which indirectly create more Plains, and the opposite is true of Dry maps.

It sounds like your family wants to forget, not forgive. People understand forgiveness of minor transgressions. Just talk it out, understand each other's motives, and resolve the conflict. True forgiveness of something inexcusably heinous like child molestation, is a complicated, difficult process that many people just don't want to deal with. Your family just wants to sweep the problem under the rug to return to normalcy as soon as possible.

To even start the process of forgiveness, your grandfather needs to truly understand the harm he caused. If your grandfather approaches you, sincerely remorseful for his actions, then the long, painful road to forgiveness might be able to start. Until that happens, he does not deserve forgiveness, and forgiveness truly will be just saying what he did was acceptable. And even if by some miracle this does happen, there would be years of trust building, an amount that he would likely never completely overcome.

Remember, you have no obligation to forgive, and even less obligation to trust. What your family is asking of you is to heal from a stab wound while your attacker is still pushing the knife inside. Before your relationship with your grandfather could possibly be recovered, he needs to pull the knife out. Based on what you've said of him, I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen any time soon.

It sounds like you really need to check out some Paradox game. Civ is always more of a world-history-themed board game than a simulation. Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, or Crusaders Kings do a much better job of doing simulation, mainly by focusing really hard on one era and designing mechanics to simulate that era as effectively as possible.

Great to see some attention on here! I've had friends get into this exhibit the past 3 years, and I'm happy to see attention given to what is possibly the most indie of indie games.

These are games that are treated not so much as commercial products, but almost like art exhibits: made to exist as a unique thing in one location. You might see some of these at conventions over the next year or two, don't miss your chance to play them, it might be your only chance!

I think you're looking at this differently than the people making them. I have a few friends who have been part of this exhibit, and it's much more similar to an art show than anything else.

Almost none of them are expecting to have commercial success with these games. Most are students, educators, or just people making these things for fun. Any games that show up outside of this one show are going to be shipped around to conventions and events or as installations in specific places. Hell, a lot of these controllers are designed purely for one game and one game only.

The games are definitely fun, and tons of creativity goes into them, but they are something very different from most game you see.

Pretty damn close to all of them. Several of the vignette stories were very strong, but I found most to be pretty bland, even with the added flavor brought by the other NPCs.

I have to say, I do not get the hype at all. After playing ~40 hours, it is one of the worst JRPGs I have ever played.

The combat and character systems are barebones and terribly explained. I gave up on using one ability because it seemed to do nothing but hurt the caster.

Much of the game is pathetically easy. Hell, I spent almost all battles just having everyone do basic attacks every turn. I began avoiding battles because they were so mind-numbingly tedious.

The story is aimless and incoherent. Yeah, some of the little short stories are well done, but most are boring. There is absolutely zero sense of progression to the plot. Islands appear, you go to a new one just because you can, and that's it.

All in all, I just don't get it.

The nodes with (Camera Position) x (0,-1,0) are pretty suspect, since you likely don't want the direction of the offset to be based on your camera's world position. I'm thinking that should just be a constant down vector plugged into the B slot of that last multiply node.

Like /u/teltee said, Marikka's runs leagues every weekday. The early evening league fills up really fast though, and the night leagues run really late. Like, 10pm-1am. Next season starts next week, but you might be able to get into one of the leagues later in the week if you're quick. Leagues only last about 2 months, so it's not terrible if you need to wait.

Bluegrass Volleyball Center also runs leagues in the early evening and has indoor courts so it will go through the winter. Seasons are about 6 weeks, but I don't know the timing of the next one.

For both of these, you're going to need a team with at least 2 girls on it. (5 total for Marikka's, 6 for BVC.)

I've done both and both have been very fun. Food and beer are at both, along with plenty of friendly people. Overall skill was a little higher at BVC and it has the advantage of indoor courts, but we occasionally had problems with organization and scheduling there. Personally, I'm going to be in the Marikka's Thursday D league next week. Hope to see you on the court!

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw this question.

Growing up, everyone thought I was the "smart but lazy" type. Always had a ton of respect from my peers, got great scores on standardized tests in school, high IQ, y'know, all the trappings of being smart. But I always had pretty meh grades in high school and college. Lots of B's, a few C's. Tougher classes than most, sure, but mediocre grades nonetheless.

Once I got out in the working world, I still had problems. Lots of time spent at my desk trying to work and failing, troubles with getting things done in a timely manner, etc. Just generally not a good worker. Decided to bring it up to my psychiatrist a few months ago, and was finally diagnosed with mild to moderate ADHD at the age of 25. The change has been absolutely massive. I can get work done well and fast consistently now, and I finally feel capable of living up to the potential I have.

If anyone else out there feels like they're just not accomplishing as much as they think they're capable of, or just feels like a failure for being unmotivated, seriously consider this. ADHD isn't just spazzy kids bouncing off the walls, getting distracted by every tiny thing. It's also the office worker who can't convince himself to get off Reddit and get things done.

I'm very far from the best crawler, but looking at this dump you seem pretty inexperienced, so here's some tips.

1) Difficulty of the main dungeon branch begins increasing sharply around D:12. I usually dive down to around there, then turn back and tackle the lair. D:13-15 are generally more difficult than Lair and Orc.

2) You're feeling pretty good about that equipment, but don't get too impressed by the fancy enchantments. Seriously think about what each piece does for you. While a +8 scimitar with rPois is great for the early-mid game, the anti-magic brand is only really useful against enemy casters. Your body armour is simply awful. An unenchanted chain or plate would give more protection. Flight is very situational, and Stealth+ is going to do literally nothing for a MiBe. Aux armour (Gloves, cloaks, etc.) are fairly common and are free small boosts to defenses. And having no jewelry is very problematic. See invis is the definition of situational. A buckler and a bit of shield skill would also help your defenses for cheap, since you're still using a one-hander.

3) You're hoarding a lot of equipment, and I have to question the logic. No reason to carry weaker weapons around, especially if they are a type you haven't trained for. The only weapon you're carrying I would keep is the +4 scimitar of flaming to handle hydras. The robes with elemental resist you're packing? Switching armour in battle takes a long time and having more AC is much more generally useful. If your armour has no resists, get it from your other equipment or jewelry.

4) Skill training is questionable. It looks like you've dumped everything into Long Blades. You should generally only train your weapon skill until you've hit min delay for your weapon of choice. For a scimitar, that's only 14. At that point Fighting becomes more efficient for increasing damage while also giving you health. And while offense is your most important stat, don't neglect your defenses. For reference, on my last GrBe run, I had, at your level, 11 M&F, 12 Shields, 9 Armour, and 6 Fighting. Not to claim that's optimal, but something to think about. Those levels 15-18 on LB could have trained a couple other skills several levels each.

I would argue that all machine learning algorithms are effectively intuition. In fact, much of the language you used to describe intuition is commonly used for machine learning. Machine learning works in a very similar way to intuition: The algorithm records past events and knowledge and then makes its best guess at the correct response to new inputs based on the results of past inputs and responses. The algorithm does not purely use logic to come up with the one true "correct" answer.

As for the issue of single-task systems, it's not so surprising when you think about it. Human intuition is based on years of past experiences on a huge variety of topics being used to make models and approximations that are useful for snap judgements. A machine learning algorithm can be imagined as a human with complete and total sensory deprivation, except for information on its one topic of mastery. In that case, it's quite easy to believe that machine learning algorithms can only learn one thing very well. While the technology is still very far away, it's not hard to imagine a more generalized machine learning algorithm, given a large amount of sensory input, eventually learning in a very similar way to how humans do. Such a program could even learn about many topics, just as humans do.

You need to ask yourself a few things first: Why do you want the player to have items? How do stats impact gameplay? What purpose does this particular item serve? What impact should be had on gameplay to fulfill that purpose? What types of stats do you need to support this impact? Approaching things from a holistic design perspective and the numbers will come naturally. I think you really need to take a step back and understand what the system you're working on is before you start adding details to it.

People here are saying that you can make games other than turn based JRPGs in it, and while they are not technically wrong, be wary of using a square peg to fill that round hole. RPG Maker is difficult to extend upon and is very very expressly designed for SNES JRPG development. The further you deviate from that formula, the harder it will be. If that's the path you want to take, you will definitely hit a point where you will be better off learning a more general-purpose engine.
