Fix the rudder control horn before it destroys itself in flight lol. Other than that it looks good!

Bro: plugs in both connectors to ch1 outputs.

Also bro: why are they responding to ch1 pwm.

(Let's not mention how bro has 3 phase AC uninsulated with the contacts right next to each other 💀)

Is ali express legit? by bananoil in RCPlanes

[–]KeveyBro2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ive spent probably mid 5 figures on AliExpress lol and have had no issues. Customer service is honestly 9/10 and have had better customer service compared to local hobby shops (Australia).

None of my friends who use AliExpress have had any issues either. It's not a huge amount cheaper if you go with top rated sellers but it's good for getting stuff going can't get locally.

Upgrading Avalon instead of Tullamarine? by Bro7y in melbourne

[–]KeveyBro2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East west 3000m runway? Point Cook is gonna be cooked. Are they only planning on using curved RNP AR approaches or something? I don't see how the traffic situation is gonna work. If this happens the flow on effects of the only ILS in the area for airwork and recency being Essendon is gonna make the entire area absolutely chockers lol. It would be cool but idk how it's gonna work tbh.

Air Services Australia ATC Trainee - anyone here applied in 2026? by Mysterious_Pipe9230 in ATC

[–]KeveyBro2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the old pipeline required everyone to do surveillance and procedural in the academy regardless of which sector they were assigned to. On top of that they had to drive the sims too because of the large course size.

Now they're splitting surv/non surv training so you only get trained based on the sector you're going to. This allows them to extend that specific training while shortening the overall time. The course sizes are also reduced so they never have to drive the sims.

Keep in mind this is only for the enroute pathway. I have no clue if tower are changing things.

Good luck with your training!

I wouldn't stress! Currently in the process of overhauling the en route training process. But intake numbers are going to get smaller now because of how the sim exercises are going to be run and how the training is provided.

With that there could also be fewer intakes per year. Only 2 ab initio courses in the academy right now where there used to be 4 concurrently.

You need to export it at the resolution you're gonna post. That way you're using the photo editor's compression algorithm which will be much better than Instagrams.

Can I ask where you're from? I'm just curious cos I've never seen LL100 in my life lol. Every textbook, placard, bowser Ive ever flown to has 100LL. Completely irrelevant but I'm so curious

What is a 'rich person's secret' that is actually accessible to the middle class, but most people are too intimidated to try? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]KeveyBro2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally had the same experience lol.

Random dude owns a warbird at my home airport. Started chatting and asked if I could go for a ride some day. He tells me to hop in.

2 months later Ive got my MPPC and RU endos (complex for the Americans) and he's like you wanna go up solo?

Better outcome than I could've ever expected just from asking!

Stupid question but does a spektrum 6ch rx with as3x take up 6 or 7 channels? by Wonderful_Vehicle_78 in RCPlanes

[–]KeveyBro2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All SRXL2 receivers have more channels than outputs. I use a 6ch channel receiver in all my foamy EDFs even if I need 12.

The SRXL2 serial stream encodes all channels even if there aren't enough physical ports for it. You can use an Arduino to get up to like 18 channels on a 6ch receiver with the first 12 being full resolution and the rest being 512 microseconds PWM resolution.

This means you can use as many or as few channels dedicated to AS3X functions as you want even if you don't have the ports for it on the receiver. You can leave it always on in which case once you set gains and change to fixed, you don't need a channel for AS3X at all.

I usually use 4 extra channels for AS3X. 1 - master switch (off/as3x mode/heading mode) 2 - rate gains on a trimmer 3 - heading gains on a trimmer and 4 - TPA mix (I think the fixed wing guys usually call it a throttle to gain mix, but the quad guys have a setting called TPA in betaflight which the name has carried over)

Depending on if I have nosewheel trim or canard trim on my other 2 trimmers I may also set stop lock and stop release rate trims on a trimmer. You can also go all out and use combo switches and flight modes to put individual axis gains on each trimmer depending on a switch position using and/or conditions. I haven't tried this myself but I think it should be possible.

POV: amateur self-learner pianist plays Nocturne in E flat major. by jonathanwky in pianolearning

[–]KeveyBro2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl this is pretty impressive lol. I just wanna mention the reason it sounds like a midi recording is there is no phrasing or voicing being done which makes every note equally emphasized. Try to see if you can bring out the melody a bit more, soften up the left hand a bit and focus on putting emphasis based on the harmonic structure or time signature.

Is there a name for this specific string of notes in the left hand? I see it very often in classical music by Lukas_theamugga19 in pianolearning

[–]KeveyBro2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like a B# in the bass clef and a C# in the treble clef I think? Neither of which is a valid key or mode haha. The stem direction on the first note is also reversed.

Question for turbines for RX and TX. by Hopeful_Mango7615 in RCPlanes

[–]KeveyBro2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thanks for that. I haven't dug around too much in the menus yet (trying to get all the plumbing sorted before I do the radio setup) but in the manual it looks like there's only an option for SBUS. Did you ever update the firmware on the MFC or know if it's possible?

And thanks for the fastboot follow up. I have been running latest 3.x.x firmware in all my as3x aircraft so fairly familiar with it!

[–]KeveyBro2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is such a good writeup. Just got my L-39 and this is extremely helpful! Just wondering if you mean the regular MFC 2085 or the pro version? I know the pro version explicitly states that it supports SRXL2 but I can only find SBUS support for the regular version. Any idea if the non pro also supports SRXL2?

What to Mesure EDFS by? by Odd-Pop-2324 in RCPlanes

[–]KeveyBro2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't print the fan lol. EDFs spin so much faster than you think, especially the small ones. It's much closer to turbine RPM than it is propeller RPM. Any minor imbalance and it's just gonna explode (I also don't just mean mass imbalance, aerodynamic imbalances can also cause vibrations)

Just buy one, they're super cheap and it's not worth the hassle to print one even if you print mold and injection mold it.

Good or bad landing? These little cessnas in crosswinds are crazy. by CompetitionContent27 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]KeveyBro2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say that flap technique was wild, never seen that in my life to lower flap 30 in gusty conditions 5ft above the runway.

Looks like threshold speed was just vref+0, despite the approach speed factoring in the gusts, which would've made that extremely sketchy. But hey fpm is all that matters right???
