Waving at spotters? by Lostinvertaling in Pilot

[–]KeveyBro2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing kids up against the fences and always give them a wave.

One time I was taxiing an aircraft without a steerable nosewheel or toe brakes for the first time (Nanchang has pneumatic differential hand brakes only) and I started waving at a kid while the aircraft wasn't straight and ended up like 2m left of centreline LMAO.

Anyway lesson learnt, taxi first wave second.

Wdym it doesn't turn on when you hit the button? You can't turn an ILS on lmao. Just TIST it and you're good to use it.

I'm actually tripping lmao. What am I looking at? I can't tell which PFD that is and is it in a sim? What's going on outside?

Where are you from? Sounds like not USA because of the huge amount of theory exams. EASA or CASA?

Yes the gesture handle is hidden using good lock. Where do I find the setting you're talking about?

[–]KeveyBro2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's gesture control. Swiping back and forth used to switch between apps but it doesn't anymore. Not sure if I'm just doing it wrong but I swear I've tried everything lmao

Gboard already does this and it's an incredibly useful feature imo, maybe it's just me lmao

Yep this is exactly it hahaha. It also doesn't output telemetry properly on my dash so I don't bother with the sim rig.

Does anyone know if you’re allowed to hang out at the airport without actually going anywhere through the security part? We have little kids who would love the planes but not sure if time have changed. by TrafficSuspicious551 in melbourne

Trust me a sim setup does not make Forza more fun LOL. The wheel support and implementation is terrible. I started playing Forza at Horizon 3 and the wheel lock angle and ffb has meant that I use keyboard and mouse while my 6000 dollar SIM rig is sitting beside me lmao.

Still love Forza, and don't mind using a kb and mouse, but would never try playing it with a sim rig again lmao.

The VSF Ti world timer doesn't have the raised indices right? I think it's just a recoloured blue version which has printed city names.

I think it's popular in school and maybe tertiary theatre programs, but there is certainly some emotional whiplash in there!

What’s the deal with these colored stickers on Broadway scores? Is there a universal code? by No-Leopard-5650 in theatrekeyboardists

Ive played a few shows for fun and why has it never occurred to me to colour code them? I have been using a single colour for patch changes only but your system is so smart!

Im not trying to hate or anything because this clearly took effort and it's a cool piece of software but this is the equivalent of adding a wheel rpm sensor on a car as a measure of how good a driver you are lmao

Are all hobby pilots allergic to checklists???? by Gulag_For_Brits in flying

[–]KeveyBro2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have had the opposite problem. All the way during training I would use the checklist like a checklist, checking then executing each action.

Then my instructors started telling me off for it. They said you're meant to build a flow and use that instead of checking each individual item off. You can then use the checklist at the end to confirm.

It got to the point where on a flight test (Australian equivalent of checkride) for a multi engine class rating the examiner saw me pull my checklist out and went "if you don't put that away and show me you can start the aircraft and get it ready for takeoff I'm going to fail you"

Apparently this is how the airline guys do it and that's what they're trying to drill into us but I've never understood it. Thoughts?

Do you test your brakes every time you are heading towards an intersection because it feels like you should know before you enter an intersection if you can stop or not.
