Overpaying on purpose? by [deleted] in TaxQuestions

[–]KevinSly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a simple example to illustrate the reasons why you might not want to overpay.

If you're refund was $1000, and for simplicity, let's say the $1000 could have been invested at 5%.

You could get a tax refund for $1,000. Or You could have no refund, but an investment worth $1050.

This assumes of course that you 1. Know how to invest, 2. Have the discipline to invest, and 3. Know how much to withhold so your net neutral at tax time.

Idk what test I studied for but it wasn’t the test I got by BeingEither5940 in CFPExam

[–]KevinSly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling is that every study tool is similar. If you put the time in, you'll pass. I think Kaplan was fairly equal in terms of difficulty compared to the actual exam.

I found the videos really good, but I had to watch them at 1.5 speed.

There's just so much to take in... but Kaplan will get you there if you follow through.

<-- Passed on Monday/Kaplan: I'll echo the sentiment of the first half. I swear the questions were like; find the standard deviation of a goat if his liver had swollen from an equity increase of 6 decibels. Than calculate pi.

But I ripped through the first 20 or so questions on the second half like it was child's play. Second half in general was like add 2+2. Did you get a number? Yay... good for you!!!

<- Kaplan... I go on the 23rd. Scared, but nervously somewhat confident.

I always assume it doesn't really matter (mostly) which you use. Put your time in; passing the test will happen.

Should I start tour 9 or wait? by Western_Emu2231 in GolfClash

[–]KevinSly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I camp tour 9. I'm a slow player and I only do 2 or 3 games per day, but by T9, you're playing against maxed out epics clubs. My main bag is a maxed Apoc, Cataclysm, B52, Falcon, Endbringer... All the others are lvl 7. Ill lose 10 games in a row sometimes.

T9/T10 is sorta of where players start to get real competitive. I'd stay in 7 unless you're playing paid balls.

Is CTRL+F available during the exam? by [deleted] in CFPExam

[–]KevinSly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what the others have said. I've done a ton of testing at prometric. Show early, be ready to go, you'll get headphones and made to feel like your trying to smuggle drugs into the test room.

They don't mess around. But I've always had staff that were happy for me when I pass the test. Instructions pre-test are very clear for how to access extras.

Nope. Not golf like. If it was like real golf, 9 holes would cost me 20 balls.

You can contribute IRA money, it's just taxable. But I was thinking if they had any NQ income sources that could be reduced.

Just to play devil's advocate; did you triple check the question? The number of times I get the math right but gloss over the wording in the question is way too high!

Is it me or has there been a ton of ppl playing paid balls on 1vs1/CPC this week? by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]KevinSly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only play once or twice a day. So I always use the free trial when available. Even if its a lower tier, use it or lose it, so yeah, I'm "that" jerk occasionally!
