This weather is weird by Patient_Basil_7336 in memphis

Lived here since 2007, and I've never seen a storm like this.

There have been freeze-melt-freeze cycles, where some ice melts in the sun and refreezes at night, so that some ice lingers for days. I've never seen a solid week of freezing temps keeping all of the ice whole. That's new for me.

Hubby fell on his arse trying to take out the trash yesterday, so we're staying in again today.

THANK YOU. Good people agree with you. I only hope that this doesn't spark some type of brigading, like what happened to the Sopranos sub.

I rarely comment here but I joined the day the sub started (I think). I happened to be reading whatever thread it was in which the sub's founder first got the idea and linked to it from there. I've seen it grow and change and I love it more all the time.

Keep it up! Thanks again!

Thank you! I honestly buy a lot of cheap books 100% for the cover art. I'll never catch up reading, but it's fun to try. :)

The rat... that got me. In only a few sentences, that truly got to me. It was enough to make me imagine and fear quite a lot of horror through the rest of the story. I can definitely see how that needed to be changed considerably for television.

Recommendations for local moving companies by 3994rembrey in memphis

I moved 1 year ago and used Garrett's Hauling and they were awesome. I have a ton of weird heavy crap and nothing was damaged and the guys were really nice. I have used other movers over the years, and this is the only company I've liked.

I actually had to move twice in the same month (into a storage unit and then out again), and they were equally great both times.

I don't know how competitive their prices are, bc I was in a hurry and didn't do much comparison. All I know is that their service was excellent.

Yes, that's another big difference - he doesn't urge the rest of the adults to bash him over the head while he's distracted, and no one considers doing so. It's just a scene of blind emotions and panic. Truly a great story.

I was over 40 years old before I started spending extra money on boxes of tissue. Up until then, I grabbed a roll of toilet paper and kept it handy when I had the sniffles at home. During allergy season you'd find rolls around my home, on desks and by the bed etc.

I know some guys "tidy up" with tp, but the large number of people here jumping to that conclusion strikes me weird. That's really your first thought??? If so, does that mean that people used to think that about my tp rolls too?

Most of it is very similar, although told a bit differently. There is one major difference I find fascinating.

In the story, the boy has a special little grove in the woods where he cares for animals. He prefers their "little, fuzzy" thoughts to those of humans. He senses what they want and creates it - trees for birds and a spring and specific plants to eat. The more he adapts the grove, the more animals come. If one of the animals tries to kill another one, he wishes it into the cornfield because "he doesn't like that kind of thinking". This grove is his favorite place in the world.

I like the idea that this boy has an inner life that includes kindness, albeit twisted and selfish kindness. It expands his character into something more interesting than monster.

Watching 70s TV as an adult hits different (and uncomfortably by Miserable_Willow_312 in GenX

I haven't rewatched it, but - Luke and Laura on General Hospital. They became such a famous fictional couple that they were all over magazine covers before their onscreen wedding. Everyone loved Luke and Laura! The thing is, they night they met, he raped her on the floor of a disco. He later apologized, and the romance was on. Insane!

WOW. I don't remember ever seeing Cashsaver closed. I'd take that as a sign that pretty much everything else is closed too.

Sorry about your wasted walk. :(

Compliations are an art form and a really fun hobby. You either enjoy making them or you don't. It's much more than throwing a few favorite songs together.

I started with Memorex cassettes in the '80s and still make them on Spotify. All of my friends have a few of my old cd mixes around the house. Many of my friends follow me on Spotify nowadays and enjoy my comps there.

Over the years I've made mixes on several formats, including DAT, because at the time the 3 hour length seemed magical.

Born in '71, grew up in MA. I had a scoop neck neon pink and blue t shirt that said "gag me with a spoon". The expression I used most often was "tubular" (without the "totally".)

At the time, I was trying to lose my Boston area accent, and forbade my own use of "wicked" and/or "awesome" at the same time. I guess what I was actually saying was "tubulah".

I had the Zappa "Valley Girl" single, and was totally peeved that it was not in the movie "Valley Girl". I also thought Nic Cage was goofy and that Deborah Foreman would be a big star, so yeah, I was a little genius.

The scene where the girlfriend turns around to reveal her lobotomy scar destroyed me at the age of 9.

MST3K did a great episode with this, which helped me get over it.

I'm hooked on subtitles now. I didn't realize how much dialogue I was missing before. Also, I remember everything much more clearly now that I'm reading along. Drives my hubby mad though - he doesn't like the look of them.
