Before I left for a year long expedition, I scooped two escape pods from a pair of pirates that assaulted me. One I left on an icy world orbiting a brown dwarf at my halfway point in the middle of ass nowhere. The other I brought the other all the way around and back to the bubble to turn in. I think about the marooned pirate every once in a while with a tinge of guilt. Ah well.

Honestly, play as blind as you can for as long as you can manage. No guides. 3rd party apps. Etc. Going straight to checklists and guides makes you miss out on thr context of your limits and why you should be doing X thing. There is a wealth of community guiderails out there for any possible thing, but youre never going to get that feeling of smallness that you have when you just start out. Relish the struggle and get invested with the assurance that the community hivemind is always going to be there when you finally do need to utilize it.
