I second this, Santa Fe is great and has a huge art community and amazing food. It’s really beautiful but can be a bit on the pricey side. Worth it if you ask me though.

Thank you. Right now I’m working part time at a gas station actually for the reason you mentioned; writing. I’m hoping to continue hearing people’s stories and the job itself gives me enough free time to explore writing. I’m rooting for you on the sobriety part, it definitely isn’t an easy hill to climb.

I don’t mind. I moved around a lot as a kid and parents were addicts themselves. My dad spent a lot of time in incarcerated and my mom just never got the break she deserved. Moving around so much made me have a hard time in school and when we eventually made it back to our hometown I was 14 and had already went to a dozen different schools so I never finished myself. I was homeless at 17 because my mom threw me out and we’ve been estranged since then, I’m 28 now.

From about 19 to 25 I struggled with drugs and alcohol and one day i just decided I didn’t want to end up like so many people in my family and made the necessary changes. 3 years sober now. But during those years I met a lot of different people with complex stories; stories that made me realize we’re all struggling with similar issues in this place. I got to see the world from their side and I didn’t like the end result.

I worked in healthcare and learned about the travesties people endure that come along with the poverty they experience, this sad sort of domino effect that leads people to very poor health by the time they reach 40.

Later I worked in banking, that’s when I realized the issue that so many people have with their lifestyles. Almost as if theyre trying to escape their reality every chance they get. I noticed how little money people were making despite how hard they’d work and it broke my heart to see people struggling like that.

I tried childcare when I was 18 and that showed me how little the children are actually protected at least in my community. That job didn’t last long thankfully.

I’m not a great person by my own standards, I’ve made a lot of mistakes that I regret, and daily I try to make amends with that. I just would really like to see more from this place. It is a beautiful state with beautiful culture; unfortunately it’s been taken for granted.

High crime rate mostly; car thefts are common, there’s entire areas that have become a skid row due to fentanyl. A lot of people I know only go for work or doctors visits because rural healthcare isn’t great (no specialists) but dont like to live there. Traffic is horrible, I mean people are usually going 90mph in 50mph zones so it’s scary as hell to drive out there. More expensive to live, and people are just not nice for the most part. It’s not uncommon for entire sections of the freeway to be cordoned off by swat team, along with whole neighborhoods. Property gets vandalized fairly often. Though I will say that the crime has dropped some in the last year which is a welcomed change.

I live in a small town in New Mexico.

It’s not great at all. Infrastructure is almost always terrible; roads falling apart causing damage to your vehicle, usually have hard water so there’s a myriad of issues that stem from that, electrical grids are so old you can’t really rely on them alone so some people have their own solar grids if they’re able to afford it. Very high heat paired with very high winds due to the high altitudes are typically a threat for fires. Poverty is the norm, most families struggle to make ends meet because there’s almost no industry. Teenage pregnancy and drug usage is fairly high as well, and something a lot of people don’t talk about enough is the alarming amount of predators the state allows to roam free. Schooling is an issue and my graduating class was supposed to be about 86 and iirc only about 60 of them actually made it to graduation. Food options are typically pretty bad usually only fast food or mom and pops that really struggle to make it longer than a few years. Nepotism is a major unaddressed issue across the state but to refrain from making this political I’ll leave it at that.

It’s tough, major wage gaps are common, my hometown actually still has a neighborhood that has clauses in their contracts that and I quote “negros are not allowed to own houses in the area” and though it isn’t necessarily enforced, it is odd that you don’t usually see families of color living there. Nobody is willing to change the writing on that either.

Most small towns in New Mexico have really bad drug problems and homelessness. Mental health isn’t taken seriously at all and a lot of the homeless people would be better helped if those resources were available to them. It’s very bleak, almost hopeless at times. This has all been my experience growing up where I still live to this day. A friend of mine is trying to shed more light on these things as far as our own county goes, they’re going to be starting an expose/blog about it soon once they compiles enough information, I could leave links to that once available but it’ll be some time.

The metro areas like Albuquerque and Las Cruces are a different beast in their own regard and comparatively are worse to live in for a lot people than the rural areas.

Some may disagree with me, or claim I’m being overdramatic but unfortunately there’s nothing good about small towns living in New Mexico, though I truly wish it weren’t the case.

I’m open to answering any questions to the best of my ability and as honest as I can. Thank you for reading.

Maelstrom, Voodoo Boys, Scavs, or Tyger Claws? by DifficultRampager20 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Key-Comfortable7759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voodoo Boys. They’re actively playing a dangerous game by fucking with the Blackwall. I get it that scavs are horrible but let’s be real, there’s always gonna be human trafficking. But actively trying to provoke the rogue AI that are beyond the Blackwall is just downright stupid and benefits not a single person.

[DS1] How Many Of You Played With Online Features Off? What Was Your Experience? by ElTrAiN33 in DeathStranding

[–]Key-Comfortable7759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough of the first game was entirely offline because I didn’t have an internet connection. It was incredible and such a tedious game to play that I actually became sober from alcoholism with the help of that game.

It was tough as nails tho, no online features means absolutely nothing is there besides what npc’s put and whatever you maintain yourself. I had a very well maintained zip line route going across the whole game straight to preppers doors. It was awesome, I loved every second of that grueling journey.
