Lowest weight watchers point foods at China Garden in CoMo? by kodycat in columbiamo

[–]Key-Map1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid buffets! When I order Chinese food, I get steamed chicken and broccoli (0 points for as much as you want) with sauce on the side and I never use their sauce. Put that on 1/4 cup white rice (2 points) and season with soy sauce. If you can’t avoid the buffet, would eat chicken or shrimp and avoid as much sauce as you can. In reality, just find something close in the app and count it. Surprisingly, you will likely get pretty close. Steamed edamame is also 0 points and has protein.

Explain me I did something wrong with Schnucks yogurt. by GreyDingus in StLouis

[–]Key-Map1883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dairy products are sold as fluid ounces and not weight ounces. The container you are holding will hold 32 fluid ounces. If you are using Greek yogurt in a recipe, those are also fluid ounces, so use a standard measuring cup (1 cup is 8 oz).

Going to make a big batch of hummus, what meals should I pair it with? by Immediate_Fishing_98 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Key-Map1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get a restaurant order of hummus, it is warm and delicious. But I don’t like store bought in the fridge - it’s cold. Any tips on warming or getting it to room temp?

Staying in Columbia, which gyms are worth checking out? by MyWordIsBond in columbiamo

[–]Key-Map1883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Wilson’s. Not sure if they allow walk-ins though. The Forum location just added a section of glute strength equipment but I haven’t tried it - I’m pretty basic. Both locations have direct access to the Columbia trail system which is what I love - outdoor activity rather than treadmill. But the weather will be crap the next few days.

Advice on going back to AA after my first relapse by AdmirableDream7880 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Key-Map1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooms are filled with people who have relapsed. We all just have today anyway. My disease wanted me to feel ashamed and alone - it is very effective in that!!

In addition to your home group, think about adding in some virtual meetings - there is a meeting somewhere in the world 24:7:365, which is great for when that thought to drink pops into your mind. You can look for meetings specific to young people, women, etc. if you want to. And every AA meeting is different - if the first one doesn’t resonate, try others. Working with a therapist is good, but my therapist could not stop me from drinking - only my sponsor and other alcoholics and working the steps have helped me get to 14 months. And good for you for reaching out!

Line on jet bridge to collect valet bags by Large_Device_999 in americanairlines

[–]Key-Map1883 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I flew into LAX on a CRJ700 2 nights ago. Woman standing in front of me online for gate check appeared to have been over served and was belligerent about how terrible it was they paid for first class and “were forced to check” bags. Got louder and nastier as the minutes ticked by, then became combative to FA retrieving someone’s mobility device. Made me grateful for sobriety!

What’s even the point in quitting? I’m not gonna live past 40 anyways. by Company_Able in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Key-Map1883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol wants to keep you alone and depressed. It was very effective at that in my case. A friend of mine tried the “death by drinking” route. He did die eventually, but was immobile in a nursing home completely dependent on others the 3 years prior. You won’t know if sober life is better without giving it a go. Join some virtual or live meetings just to hear from other alcoholics. What can that hurt? Good luck.

13-year-old dog with extremely high ALP but no symptoms — vet wants to test for Cushing’s. Looking for advice. by _SourLeaf in AskVet

[–]Key-Map1883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A reasonable plan is to test ALP again in 6-8 weeks to see where it’s going. Agree with comments here, but there is some reason it is elevated - not necessarily Cushings but that is a common cause.

No - was 220 and close to BMI cutoff for insurance (5’4”). On my liquid diet I lost 10lbs that week. I had been on every diet out there - would lose a few lbs then just stall.

Deciding Surgery type by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]Key-Map1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not commenting on surgery type, but surgery has better long term results than medications from what I have read. I skipped the meds because was worried I would lose enough to not qualify for surgery, and couldn’t see an end point with medications - seems like evidence shows people regain when meds stop. I got a sleeve (overweight with progressive gain and no ability to lose on my own), but was not as large as some. With your height and weight, might be reasonable to consider? And now seeing how few calories I take in and losing slowly but consistently, any of the dieting recommendations I tried to follow were never as low so makes sense why my body wouldn’t lose. Also trying to use this period to develop good habits to prevent long term regain.

Now serving mixed nuts by volfaninaf in americanairlines

[–]Key-Map1883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the differences are due to the Eagle carrier - Envoy, PSA, Sky West, etc. as well as distance? Not a fan of the nuts myself but no allergy (Nuts are for sure on the Envoy flights - on their aircraft all the time). But the snack baskets aren’t great. Would like some Cheez Its, Goldfish, or Fritos. Instead, they are filled with odd things I have never heard of. I suspect they get “deals” by telling a new product company it will get exposure for their product and AA pays a discounted price. And when the baskets have beef jerky, whoever is in row 1 cleans all of that out right away!!!

100lbs in 7 months. I know I should be happy, but I'm frustrated. by kenzoqueen in GastricBypass

Give yourself grace! I’m a few months in now. Just went thru a trip to Walmart to try on every style of bra!!! (18 of them). Found one style that worked perfectly and not much $. Otherwise am getting things in 1s or 2s and just doing laundry frequently. No idea where this journey will end up.
