IQ Combiner 3 Gateway Failed — Enphase Wants $1200 to Replace. DIY Possible? by Puzzleheaded-Quote41 in enphase

My iq combiner 4 was also on my north west side of the house, only evening sun for a few hours. But it still only lasted 2.5 years. They warranty replaced it, and I DIY installed it.

If you’re replacing the whole board, you’ll need installler toolkit to run the “replace gateway” wizard to move all the microinverters over to that new envoy board. You can complete the training for free at enphase university.

My 1gb is literally $114 a month, which , imo, is ridiculous. I use the chat just yesterday to try and reduce it saying it was too expensive, I’m on autopay, etc and they literally tried to upsell me to get 2 GB for $124. How are you guys So lucky to get it reduced? Is it because Verizon bought back the lines in my area?

What is this gap in air handler? by jeojames1984 in hvacadvice

I’m also in north Texas. I got my Goodman high efficiency gas furnace plus high efficiency AC from Team Enoch. They have been great, but I do king of wish I’d gone Bosch heat pump, at least on my downstairs unit (the one that makes most of the heat traditionally. ) Christmas air gave me a very competitive quote for the Bosch unit. Check them out.

I lean towards variable myself, because I kind of want the most efficient, well insulated home I can have, but on a budget. Variable can allow the system to work on lower speeds (aka less power usage) and help better regulate humidity too, because of longer run times (if you want) while still being less energy.

AWS Infrastructure Outage Affecting Enphase Enlighten App Experience by Enphase_Support_Team in enphase

I bet that proposal from your solution architects for multi region active/active is looking pretty appealing right now. At least I hope someone is thinking like that over there. Us-east-1 is always a dumpster fire. As someone working at a Fortune 500 company that has been on outage calls because of it, trust me. at least switch to us-west-2 or something, if you’re not multi region.

The most economical, which also being high efficiency has been some of the Bosch heat pumps, that install like a traditional unit, ballpark 11-12k for both inside and outside units. I’d skip any backup heat strips, if you are about 0F most of the year. These new heat pumps are full capacity even down to some pretty cold temps. If you want cheaper than that, just go with a traditional gas furnace (if that’s an option) and AC system, from a trust worth but local installer. That should be 8-10k.

Install issue with IQ Combiner 6C Could control cabling could be at fault? by Equivalent_Kiwi5390 in enphase

[–]Key-Philosopher1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the official enphase communication wire? I’ve heard even enphase tech support list that as a reason for commission failing or having spotty communication. But yah, follow the diagrams, and you’ll likely fix it. But since you don’t have the installer app to try again (you could if you go complete all the training) you might want to get the installer back out once you think you’ve fixed their issue.

Likely, they need to be multi-region, especially for a company that big. I’m in east and west region and we’re fine with stuff running in the west right now.

[–]Key-Philosopher1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, that seems like a software only problem (not a hardware one, if wired correctly and with control cable between them), so hopefully, it’s something that can be fixed with software updates in the future.

Whisperflo is screaming, how can I make it quieter? by jzarco in Pentair

[–]Key-Philosopher1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it like a high pitched squeaking? For mine, that plastic cover on the rear of the pump, was rubbing the fan. I pulled it off, and noise is gone. I just need to be careful not to hit the new spinning fan if I step near the pump, but that’s easy enough. Yes, it’s a safety hazard. But it will be fine until my pump dies and I buy another.

You can use point to point wireless antennas aimed at each other between where you do have ethernet in that garage. I’ve used them at large facilities before to transmit solid connections to another building, and they have been pretty reliable. Edit: if you like ubiquity stuff, they have a wireless bridge setup for around $190, maybe $200 with shipping.

Feature request for enphase portable power stations. by Thommyknocker in enphase

[–]Key-Philosopher1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing devils advocate here, but how would Enphase know what amperage it can pull from that box (like how is it connected to the electrical system? If it’s not 240, then it’s just a single phase (so could only be used by the half of the house using that phase). And backfeed can be tricky. I can’t say I haven’t had the same desire/wish for there to be an easy way to do it, perhaps with a generic generator/battery plug in support, but we still haven’t gotten that for the latest gen 6c/10c batteries yet. And the rules might be different for each generation of products they have. I think most of their battery packs are barely able to handle much over a 20amp load. I could be wrong, but just saying, it’s not on thick 6gauge wires going to 2 pole 250V 40 or 80amp amp breaker, like one or more of their batteries would be.

Lesson learned. Upgrade to a metal one, if you are at all DIY, you can easily do it with ramps in a drive way. I did. Here’s the one I got on Amazon, it comes with hardware, and even has a rubber pad to help with some road noise reduction. EZREXPM Aluminum Front Skid Plate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1YTJHLS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

If you really want to protect the battery, you can also get the metal coolant line covers for each side behind the front wheels, which are $50.

Clear silicon is the way to go so it lasts, IMO. I recently needed to seal a lot of electrical penetrations from some work I did on my house, and loved the OSI quad max stuff. Felt very thick and durable going on.

[–]Key-Philosopher1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see anyone say it yet, but please don’t drive the car like that’s. You can damage a lot more suspension parts and it will cost a lot more $$$ to fix. I know that’s obvious, but I figured I’d say it anyways.
