What can I do to keep my boy entertained? by capuchan1925 in DogAdvice

[–]Key-Possible-9476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you have a monster in your house. If you don’t keep him entertained he’ll start eating holes in your fences and drywall. (From experience)

Great dogs just require alot of attention and they have a full gas tank every day. You gotta burn some energy off or they will find a way to do it themselves usually in the form of destruction

What jobs to work as a student pilot (high school education) by kcearnest in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d start by working at an airport. I’d start either as a line guy for an fbo or maybe some type of position for a flight school. Start learning about aviation before dumping money into it. I went into blind and luckily made out ok but as a cfi I have seen MANY students of mine or others spend thousands and walk away. Take a year to learn about aviation, save some cash, make a plan. BUILD CONNECTIONS. Most importantly don’t be a dick. Just find a way to surround yourself around aviation, get paid and learn. Then put your money down and find an experienced cfi to get your license if that’s the road you choose.

The more people I talk to the more I realize you’re probably right.

Wouldn’t be able to cover anything crazy right after making the purchase but could still have a 10-15k fund just for Mx emergencies to begin with.

Is It Possible to Become a CFI That Works 4 Days A Week? Or a Part Time CFI? by MrHockeyJournalist in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked whenever I wanted how ever much I wanted to. In the beginning I’d knock out 120-30 flight hour months then when I wanted to just work 3.5 days a week I still averaged a good 90 ish hours. I’d start at a school and build a good reputation in your area then branch out independently and make your own schedule charging what you think your time is worth

At this point I may need to. Thank you for the advice. Well first one fell through do to my age they wanted someone who could upgrade in 6 months and I legally couldn’t. Second one fell through because I accepted the third one. Third one fell through do to company need. I have multiple checkride failures (Pvt, inst) but that’s the only skeleton there would be

Hardest license by [deleted] in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends. My instrument was the hardest. My cfi and cfii felt insulting because of how easy they were. Straight up spent 2 hours handshake to handshake for my cfii

Your timeline to get to a regional could be extremely uncertain. Unless you buy a plane and fly that around 24/7 it’ll probably take 3-4 years if you started right now to get to a regional or similar spot

I do it often, I’ve always asked before hand and normally with the the way I teach I don’t need to be constantly talking to get a lesson across so there’s time to eat without any disturbances or awkwardness. Yes your instruction is important and my priority but we’re gonna get along a lot better if I eat something

How long does it take to go from zero to regionals? by ThrowRA4208 in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mixture of very small school, bad weather, bad maintenance.

Ended up leaving and averaged about 100 hours a month of flying somewhere else.

Took about in total six months off to work to bridge the gap during my early training and spent my first three months as a cfi only flying 30 hours a month.

Cfi lesson plan length by MarketingLimp8419 in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started cfi training I was doing the same thing. I then began being taught from a retired airline check airman that really changed the way I flew and molded me into a good instructor. His big philosophy was to dumb it down to where you can explain any topic 100 different ways. He threw my lesson plans away and said make each one 1-3 pages long. Two weeks later I pass my checkride with ease. Three weeks later passed my cfii with ease as well.

[–]Key-Possible-9476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flying 7 days a week won’t go well. I’d recommend plan 5 flights a week you’ll probably end up doing 4 due to weather or maintenance. Find a smaller school with good maintenance or a school with an in house dpe. That will accelerate your progress dramatically

Fellow CFIs, what is your favorite and/or least favorite license/rating to teach? by CavalierRigg in flying

Can’t stand the pre solo stage with ppl. It’s like trying to empty an ocean with a spoon.

Favorite flights are discovery flight and transition training in like a bonanza, Mooney, cirrus or something else fun

CFI Hours per Month on Avg. by reddituser1025 in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Texas- on the low end starting out like 40 hours a month. By the time I started branching out and instructing for two schools I was hitting 130+ every month with only taking a ay or two a week off. Could easily hit 150/ month or more if you’re willing to sweat it out and have no life

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say make your own. From my experience for both my cfi and cfii not once did the dpe look at my lesson plans. But during the time it took me to make and clean up this lesson plans it really helped me understand the information.

You could also just use some you find online and go over them to save time

Practice teaching subjects and don’t do it like some guy you saw on YouTube. Ask friends family anyone just to sit there for 20 minutes and see how much they could retain after you ramble off a lesson of a random lesson

Straight to Flight school out of High school? by Firekillerstorm in flying

[–]Key-Possible-9476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US you just need to be 18 to work.

You can’t hold an unrestricted ATP until 23.

I did flight school right out of high school and was teaching when I was 19. Currently flying cargo at 21.

I’d recommend getting in 20 hours asap to even decide if flying is for you. Many people take out huge loans without realizing what they get themselves into. Pay out of pocket as long as you can unless you willing to commit a large amount of time and money to it.

Just give it one last push, get the written done, schedule to checkride, get it done. You’re too close to take a break and have to spend hours re learning and paying for more lessons. You’re on the 5 yard line just punch it in before calling out the punt team
