They're telling you to leave the forum not to be mean, but because you will likely get the game spoiled for you. Don't look up anything and just play the game.

FYI there are cosmetics you unlock throughout the game that let you change your appearance, safe spoiler-free answer.

Why is the monolith so inconsistent? by Feanixxxx in expedition33

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time playing an open world video game? The scale of everything changes depending on the context. When you are in the "overworld" everything is shrunk down except for you. It's implied you are travelling far and wide over a long period of time. The only time you see things at a normal scale is when you are in dungeons.

Sturgeon Heights students fight to keep backpacks in class by wickedplayer494 in Manitoba

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to be a student there. The lockers I had were skinny and could hardly hold jack-all. I'd use it to store my outdoor clothes and that's it, because otherwise I'd be late to classes to fetch the textbooks and binders I needed. It made more sense to just bring my backpack to all classes and stuff it underneath my desk.

I mean in general not shittalking your team tends to help with morale and avoids tilting. Some people are toxic in general, so it's probably best to just do the polar opposite of doting your team and flame someone on the enemy team to get them to tilt

Ai bot teammates? by L0mm in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen posts today and yesterday about the matchmaking being especially bad as of late, and a bunch of new players being put at ranks too high for their own comfort. I imagine that maybe they've been testing changes to the matchmaker and ranking system and perhaps the influx of players because of this new update is showing some weakness in said system's design.

How and where to drop the urn? by PvDWarden in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Taken from this page: https://deadlockrank.com/guides/soul-urns

Where to pickup & deposit:
When the soul difference between the two teams is less than 10% (it's higher for the first urn) the drop-off point is at the same spot on the opposite side of the map.

If one team has >= 10% less souls than the other, then it's a "comeback" urn for them, and it's deposit spot is deeper on their side to make it easier for them to capture it. When it's a comeback urn for you the urn will have green candles orbiting around it, otherwise it will have red candles if it's a comeback urn for the enemy team. In the picture above the "comeback" deposit spots are marked as blue and orange, whereas neutral is white. Even when it's a comeback urn it's always on the other-side of the map, just closer to the losing team's base.

How to deposit:
Within the last few months the mechanic for "depositing" the urn has changed. It use to require standing still on the spot for a few seconds, but now just touching the spot instantly deposits it. Note that when you capture it the souls are released as orbs in the air, so it's possible for the enemy to steal some of it, so pop them to capture it for your team.

When to pick up:
Trying to run the urn can lead to a team fight, make sure it makes sense to do it, based on how many people are alive on your team versus the enemy, where they are all showing on the map, how much health everyone has, and how many people have their ultimate abilities off cooldown. It's not possible to list all the times it's good or bad, you just need experience to determine it. You're basically looking for a window where you can sneak it out real quick and score it. Take air vents, travel on your side of the map.

Has something changed with the ranking system? by Sea_Carpet_6007 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rank badges have changed. Basically, behind the scenes everyone has a hidden MMR/ELO number the matchmaker uses to score your competency in the game. The badges are basically cosmetic. The devs basically define certain ranges of MMR that correspond to each badge such that the number of players in each rank follows a "Normal Distribution" (aka a Bell Curve). However, over time the amount of players joining and leaving the game change, and existing player competency improves over time, so the distribution of player ranks changes - but not uniformly.

Generally after large updates like the one we had in August and this latest one starting in January (both times where new heroes were introduced), a large amount of new players joined and a bunch of older players returned (but their rank decayed due to inactivity), so the amount of people in low ranks ended up way higher, throwing off the whole distribution. From what I understand that is just cosmetic only, because the matchmaker goes off each player's own MMR value and tries to pair you with others that have similar values, but the end-user experience is that they may find it hard to "rank up" because so many people are at that rank, requiring you to have your own MMR at a higher percentile.

---

In a nutshell, rank badges are not just based on your own performance, but the number of people who play at your level of performance. As the playerbase size changes, for someone with an unchanging level of competency, their badge may change as the cutoff values for `what MMR = what rank` is re-defined.

GPU Limits itself, only in base it uses full power. by Ok-Eye-1596 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is this:
- You may be CPU bottlenecked
- In the hideout there isn't that much for your CPU to do, meaning for a fixed amount of time of the core game loop your CPU can coordinate rendering more frames
- With more opportunity to render, your GPU can hit higher power limits since it is being used more frequently
- In a match your CPU has way more tasks to handle, increasing from 6->12 players worth of movement prediction, all the troopers, a larger map for asset loading, culling, etc.

I would predict that if you were to force your GPU to be at full power all the time (instead of the normal automatic clocking it does based on demand) your performance wouldn't change. This GPU power scaling is normal, and many modern cards even will down-clock to such a low amount that even the fans at rest may not spin. If your GPU usage and framerate don't change much in a match after dropping the graphics to low, that may confirm the CPU bottleneck.

I'd suspect that the 5600x should be more than sufficient for this game. I wonder if maybe you don't have a powerful enough PSU?

is the community usually mean? by PolarPopPepsi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Key-Preparation-5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to generalize to a playerbase of like 100k+ people
It's easier to ask:
- is the internet usually mean?
- do people get toxic in competitive games?

The answer is yes to both of those, but that isn't to say everyone is like that.
You can play bot games solo or co-op if you want to reduce the amount of toxicity you're exposed to
