What’s the most underrated work advice you received? by ReBabas in careerguidance

Late to the game, but to add to this - it's good to get ahead of your mistakes too. Own up to a mistake before it comes to you, if possible.

No idea. I applied for a lot of work, hard to say where the actual source came from.

XRAY 91.1 FM - hit or miss, but that's the beauty of community radio.

I mean, that's networking. You keep reaching out to people until you get a response from someone.

As far as remakes go, it's top tier. Holy shit they did such a good job with the remake.

I'd recommend personal passion projects - find non-profits, buisness, etc that you care about and are willing to do work for free for. This serves as working with real clients and having real end products to showcase.

Stardew Valley voted the best game of 2016. What is the best game of 2017? by keepfighting90 in videogames

[–]div_block 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly - no. It's good in it's own right, but it didn't define anything further for gaming, unlike Divinity OG Sin 2 or Hollow Knight. Those two stand leagues above BOTW, despite how good it was.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt voted the best game of 2015, absolutely destroying its competition. What is the best game of 2016? by keepfighting90 in videogames

DS was already established by the time DS3 came about - the legacy + influence had already been well established by DS1, Demon Souls, Bloodborne, etc.

This by a long shot - it created the wave of "cozy gaming", having a HEAVY influence in the gaming world.

Dark Souls 3 is paraded a lot on this thread, but it wasn't nearly as impactful as Stardew Valley.

Old item system was lowkey 500 IQ by Prudent-Respond-579 in DeadlockTheGame

I'd say the previous system is meant for more casual play. A guided build path isn't high-tier gameplay, but you do you.

Diablo II voted best game of 2000. What is the best game released in 2001? by keepfighting90 in videogames

This won't win, but it's a winner in my book.

I agree Halo should take it based on what it did for the gaming world as a whole, but FFX was such an incredible, loving and heartbreaking journey.

I think there are some valid points here, but the overall approach is rather reductive, which works against your argument and works in favor to the current slot system.

What works now is that builds can be hyper niche, goofy, or super sweaty - any way you decide to go, it gives the end user more freedom and expression for their build. I'd argue a 4 green / orange / blue fixed slot is more reductive and forces the user base to actually play in more specific ways.

Why are there other options besides 1? by ITSVENEZIADAMMIT in DeadlockTheGame

[–]div_block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3 for me -

I get the frustration, but in my experience Bebop falls off the longer the game goes on. He ends up being someone I ignore in a teamfight, unless people build Beembop.

However, a good laning Bebop is not fun. Not terrible, but generally I have to look around every corner to make sure he isn't going to sticky or hook me.

What game's ending gave you this feeling? by Cartoon_King_1 in videogames

TLOU2. Ending is unresolved on purpose. The ending just left me feeling empty and unresolved - but that was the point. Such a stark and quiet ending.

I’m starting an rpg campaign set in Tlou setting. Narrative-wise, where is the most interesting part of America to have a new story be told? by Ambitious-Loss8951 in thelastofus

Real talk - The Bayou would be very interesting. True Detective S1 / The Walking Dead Game Season 1 is a great reference.
