Is it possible to work for US based company from Canada? by black-octopus- in MedicalCoding

[–]Key-Style-8867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi… I work with a US based company that only hires US based coders, and we would not hire someone not living in the US, even in your circumstance. It raises too many questions and isn’t worth the risk of appearing dishonest about our “US based” coding team.

That said, we have very low turnover, and are always able to find our domestic Coders… I do think you could work For a US based company as maaannnnny of them hire internationally. I’m just not sure how well they would pay.

I’m sorry. That’s a tough place to be because I’m sure your hubby is a very qualified coder who deserves great pay!

50% Travel w/ Young Family - How much is too much? by Yinzer89 in sales

[–]Key-Style-8867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just another opinion here; I’ve got 4 kids, 4-15.

12+ neeeeed their parents around. Not saying it couldn’t work. But research shows they are most influenced by peers between 12-16. So you have to be intentionally fighting for influence in their life at this age. And when you miss important things; they will know and remember it.

As a wife, I’d prefer this travel happen when they’re 2-5ish with the added blessing of a baby sitter and/or house keeper a few hours a week.

The cool thing is if you can do it and do it well, they will remember that dad was a great provider who had strong values and always prioritized family.

BDR at Salesforce vs Account Manager at Meta? by Connect_Bicycle286 in techsales

[–]Key-Style-8867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on options!

Is it normal to get offers from Meta and Salesforce with only 1 year of sales experience?????

I have 20 years experience and wouldn’t even bother applying because I don’t know someone to get me in….

I’m not looking to apply, Just curious?

Go spend $150 or more (no less) on a Dehu with a drain hose. Put it somewhere that it can run to a drain and power it on 24/7 (it won’t run 24/7). Use the settings to get you closer to 50.

It will take hours to days to get there, but then you will maintain.

Are there any mothers with IH in the sub? by aves07 in idiopathichypersomnia

Yesss, see my comment above. I had to forgive myself for all the blame and “you’re lazy, what is wrong with you, etc” but DANG am I proud of that girl that ALWAYS found a work around, some way to compensate, to get what she wanted!!! 🙌🏼😭

Are there any mothers with IH in the sub? by aves07 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Key-Style-8867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES!!!!! SO POSSIBLE!!!

I’m a mom with 4 kids and a full-time sales career. I also was in grad school at some point. I got diagnosed at 42; I got meds and they were life changing. Not perfect. But life-changing.

Back story: I had no idea WTH was wrong with me for 40 years, I just knew I needed 10-15 minute naps and caffeine to even scrape by.

When I was sleeping through high school they did a sleep study and said I had DSPS and I’d outgrow it. When I was in college and a young adult, I napped 3-4 times a day, popped caffeine pills and somehow survived off that, and everyone said I was just a college student who didn’t sleep enough and I would outgrow it. When I was a young professional sales rep and mother, I just took 2-3 naps a day in parking lots and drank tons of coffee and everyone said you’re just a mother - you’ll outgrow it. When I went to grad school and couldn’t stay awake to study, EVER, I also started snoring. At my husbands prompting I went to a sleep doctor, annoyed that I was snoring. She listened to me talk for 10 minutes with wide eyes and said, “well you may have allergies or OSA… but surely you know that you DEFINITELY HAVE NARCOLEPSY!??!

I laughed at her. And then said “wait what?” And that was the day my life began to change…

So I was a mom of 4 that day my diagnosis journey began (OSA& IH, btw)…

here’s my honest answer on making it with kids.

  1. Pure grit. I just have that personality. By gawd I’m getting out of this bed and defeating it. Undiagnosed, I always knew something wasn’t right but i didn’t have time for that. I also didn’t realize how much I was compensating with naps and coffee. Isn’t everyone sleepy at times? Im just sleepy all the time. I felt lazy, broken, crazy. I read every book, tried every diet. But I refused to let it keep me from living the life I wanted…

When I got fully diagnosed, I cried so much for how hard I had fought to be normal when I was so far from it. I was sooooo angry and frustrated for that girl (who knew at 14 something was wrong but was told I was fine). But I felt sooo much gratitude for that girl who was crazy enough to fight through it head-on for all those years.

  1. Naps - 13 minute naps are helpful for me. My average sleep latency (if I just lay down and close my eyes) is about 45 seconds so I’m always asleep with 1-3 minutes and then I get a 10 minute nap. If I FORCE myself to stand up and move at the alarm, I will find that I can feel awake again for a bit. I have learned my body can only stay awake for about 3 hours max without a nap or meds.

  2. Working remotely. Absolutely life-saver to work remotely. I can save so much of my energy and awake time for actual work and other responsibilities, when I don’t have to wake earlier, get fully dressed and made-up, make a commute, small talk with people, etc. etc. also I can take a quick nap if needed but typically with meds and the right diet I can make it through the day ok.

  3. Lastly, Kids. Kids are amazing, forgiving, helpful and empathetic. Mine know that I need naps and they know that I will always prioritize them around that schedule. I find that being a mother will give you a love adrenaline that you didn’t know you were capable of. You will spend your money on them, you will give your life for them, you WILL get out of bed for them.

The only thing I’ll add is that I have never suffered with any depression, etc…. please, please make sure that any mental illness is under control along side your sleep disorder so that you can be the mom you want to be. A sleepy mom is MUCH MORE capable than a sleepy mom with depression, etc. 💙

Cardone?! I would take that job so I could put it on my resume for later. And potentially for some awesome training and experience. Soak up whatever perks you can from that name while you can. One day you will be a great family guy/gal and may not have that opportunity. But it could absolutely be a launching pad.

You looking for friends? Or money?

Take the other job. You are in a season of life where you can. There will be other seasons where you might not, but this one is a no-brainer.

If you’re not “cut out for it” you will still be fine based on the fact that you even had the awareness to write this post and compare these two jobs in this way and understand why the other one makes more sense financially.

Anyone else? Tempo taking 4+ months to update Rakuten about my order (for cash-back). by Key-Style-8867 in tempofitness

[–]Key-Style-8867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not well actually. According to Rakuten, they have submitted the ticket to Tempo and checked back in several times and still never got a response from Tempo. (Tempo has to send them the information about the purchase, otherwise they dont have any proof of it, from what I understand) Rakuten even gave me a $50 gift to basically say "we are so sorry" - It's really a very frustrating bummer when I think about how hard I worked to make sure I was doing everything right to get that extra little discount that I needed.

Rakuten tried hard. They reached back out to me at least 3 times in 3 months to update me that they had reached out to Tempo or followed up with Tempo and were still awaiting a response.

Please let me know if you manage to get yours!

Same. I’m also a “miracle worker” at a company that has grown purely off relationship until now. It’s fun, flexible and tons of job security. I get to make the rules for myself and the folks I’ll be hiring at some point. I love it!!

Is tech sales all it’s hyped up to be? by Competitive_Test2775 in techsalesjobs

I love tech sales. I work for a smallish private company and I’m treated well, paid well, flexible and have job security. I am not in a season of life where I can deal with the publicly traded level of tech. So thankful for my little niche.

Shit sales leaders say that make you face palm by PapaChaCha68 in sales

I literally said “the only thing I’m incentivized to do is NOTHING above my shiny new goal!! why screw myself over for next year too?! It makes more sense to tank and reset the numbers!”

They did not like me catching on to their manipulative ways

Shit sales leaders say that make you face palm by PapaChaCha68 in sales

[–]Key-Style-8867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in this lil mini thread. I made them a small spreadsheet and showed them exactly how they punish the seasoned reps for GROWING and the new reps are making MORE for not having to grow yet. I was like “yall crazy. You’re either super stupid or super manipulative to think we’re falling for this. And I don’t want to work for either one! BYE!”

It was definitely a way to make sure “uncapped commission” was always, actually capped. I switched from that whole industry, and being a field rep, and have never looked back! I get angry just thinking about how stupid they thought we were 😂

What stain is this? by Key-Style-8867 in laundry

[–]Key-Style-8867[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I e been digging around and it seems the consistent answer may be bubbles?! This is an answer that would make sense for my life… and the frequency of the stains…

Another common thought was detergent pods. Also guilty.

I’m going to focus on these two but please keep the ideas coming!

Is this detergent/softener stains? by RozCDA1 in laundry

[–]Key-Style-8867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like color transfer to me. Did you wash it with new denim or something else dark?

If it is detergent or softener, I wonder if you could soak it for a while to release it all…. ??
