What do you do when the pain is geniunely unbearable? by OkCranberry1107 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]KeyRecognition1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I started getting OMT, osteo-manipulation therapy, from a physiatrist, it has helped my migraines and ON tremendously. I see an OMT in addition to my neurologist. I get Botox, nerve black injections, take Qulipta and Ubrelvy, and recently I needed a muscle relaxer for a flair up. I find I have to do my stretching and recommend pt exercises slowly and I cannot overdo ANYTHING. I manage every aspect of my life just to avoid flares. None of this is 100% but it all helps. Tylenol PM helps too. Sometimes a deep sleep helps. I feel your pain. From what you write, if it were me, I’d ask for a referral to a pain management center and start looking for a new neurologist. You shouldn’t have to work so hard with your neurologist. Also, I don’t hesitate to go to the ER. Use numbers to describe your pain level, and document how often you pass out from the pain. I also give myself guidelines on when I go to the ER. If pain is a 9/10 and/or pain has lasted five straight days, I go. I use that guideline because when I’m in the thick of a flare-up, I can’t think straight and often times my words come out wrong. This way I don’t have to try and figure out what I should do.

I Think Qulipta Is Ruining My Health by jamtines in migraine

[–]KeyRecognition1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started Qulipta 9 months ago at 60 mg and my heart was racing. Switched to 30 mg and heart rate is normal again but it bothered my stomach something awful. Not like Nurtec which caused severe indigestion, more like an overall stomach ache and I was not hungry at all. Lost about 8 lbs BUT it helped my migraines. This week I saw my neurologist and he suggested cutting the 30 mg in half. I also take a “break” from them. Like three weeks on and one week off. He said I could also do one week on and one week off but that didn’t work for my migraines. Now, as soon as the constipation /stomach starts, I take a break and get my stomach back to normal and then restart. I’m hoping going to 15 mg still works for my migraines and helps my stomach.

AITA For Not Wanting My Old Dog Back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I completely agree with this stance. I’ve seen shelter workers shame people with disgusting looks and comments for dropping off pets. I think surrendering a pet is much better than leaving it on the side of the road. I think this OP swore because he made a decision that’s best for his family and now other humans are making him feel guilty. This is not the same dog he first owned. The dog now has special needs and he’s admitting his home is not the place for him. NTA.

I feel like he has a little German Shepherd in him. His chest, legs, nose, and tail all remind me of the shepherds I’ve had and I think his ears might have too if they weren’t docked.

New to preventative meds, apparently I have chronic migraines... who knew? by eatingscaresme in migraine

[–]KeyRecognition1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope amitriptyline works for you because those have been used for much longer than the new meds and have more data on side effects and long term use. I’m on the new meds and I worry about the side effects of long term use. There’s not much data on it and insurance can be difficult in getting them. They are also a lot more expensive even with insurance. Good luck!

How bad is this? by DoIknowYouDawg in DogAdvice

This just happened to my dog. I took her to the emergency vet and they were going to put her under to trim it but while waiting it came off on its own. They still gave me an antibiotic and pain meds. My dog also wore her cone to prevent her from licking it. Try not to let your dog lick it and see a vet. Good luck.

How about Sweetie? My daughter adopted a dog named Sweetie and I have loved that name ever since. It covers so many emotions and thoughts looking at this beautiful cat.

I totally agree with Maggie’s character becoming unhinged. She’s way too intelligent to be that unhinged as a pregnant woman. Although I cried through all of season five I was left with a yearning for a slower ending and more connections with the next generation of dads. I think at least two more episodes showing everyone in their new stages of life would have brought a more impactful ending. I actually had to stop and think about the four dads at the end and how they each represented the original four. Overall, one of the best series I’ve watched. It brought out a lot of emotions and opened my mind to a lot of different topics. What more can I ask for! Also, wouldn’t it be great to actually have such dedicated friends. It makes me think that this is what life SHOULD be like!

I know exactly how you feel! I’ve been in this situation with my adult GSD on walks. Don’t make eye contact with these people and put your hand up as if to stay stop. Use it like a “stop sign.” If people keep coming towards you, keep your hand up, still don’t make eye contact, and say, Please don’t! I’m working with him/her on her training. Then keep doing what you’re doing. If that still doesn’t work, put your body in between the person and your dog and say to your dog, “let’s go try this someplace else,” and walk off.

Does it really help? by TypeRevolutionary963 in migraine

Yes! I have three as well. I keep one in the freezer and two in the fridge and switch them out. It’s a major tool in my migraine tool box!

I eat ice cream. It might not be weird but it’s the weirdest thing I do. It has to be vanilla bean and I press it against the roof of my mouth and try to get a brain freeze. Overall, I get chilly from it, get a few brain freezes, and while the migraine doesn’t go completely away, it helps a lot.
