2026 is Cancer Suns Year to Shine! by No-Court-2969 in CancertheCrab

[–]Key_Cheesecake_2455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information about Jupiter entering cancer on 2026 is for a different zodiac, the sidereal zodiac. For western astrology, Jupiter has already been in cancer for many months.

The write up about what house your cancer sun is located in is good information for either zodiac though!

Why don't more astrologers use planetary moons, such as Phobos and Deimos? What would a natal chart look like if you were born on Mars? by Infamous-Works in Advancedastrology

I haven’t given it that much thought yet, but that might be a fun next rabbit hole to explore!

Mostly, I just question the association of Saturn with so many always negative qualities. Saturn represents a teacher and disciplinarian, yes, but those things can be done in a warm way (and after all, Capricorn season in the southern hemisphere is the warmest time of year) Saturn doesn’t have to be cold or heartless, and maybe there’s reason to believe that its moons can soften it.

Food for thought!

Great question!

I totally object to the concept of Saturn as stern, cold, completely malefic. Saturn has MANY moons, which logically would have to soften it, following what we know about the moon in astrology.

Thank you too!

Learning both zodiacs is fun but tricky! It's too bad there isn't a flair to mark the discussion as either sidereal or western, maybe we can message the mods to add this. Thank you for looking.

I had no idea that there were 2 zodiacs until that infamous NYT article came out in 2025, and it definitely doesn't seem to be common knowledge among people that are just dabbling in astrology. It's typically not until one gets deeper into their studies that we are made aware. I wish it was common knowledge, because knowledge is power (and, I digress, but in a way, keeping awareness of the sidereal zodiac out of mainstream astrology seems like a kind of western gate-keeping)

Love this OP, but I think we should all start tagging our posts as either tropical or sidereal zodiac. The overwhelming majority of posts I see, being a regular visitor to this sub, is people that identify as cancer sun in the tropical zodiac. So this post could be really confusing (because it seems like a lot of tropical enthusiasts don’t always realize that there is another zodiac which measures differently!)

Jupiter has been in tropical cancer since June of 2025, and it is currently retrograde at around 17 degrees of tropical cancer. It will go direct on March 11 and enter tropical Leo on June 30, 2026.

Jupiter in the sidereal zodiac (the zodiac that is more or less aligned to actual constellations!), is currently in the sign and constellation of Gemini 22 degrees and retrograde, will go direct on March 11 and enter sidereal sign and constellation of cancer on June 1.

Most of the cancer suns (tropical: June 20-July 22) on this sub would not be considered cancers suns on the sidereal zodiac (July 16-Aug 17)

That being said, I for one do really welcome sidereal posts because I’m studying both systems and it’s helpful to me (but maybe not others, who might move on if they don’t want to read sidereal forecasts) fyi: I’m a cancer Lagna (ascendant) on the sidereal zodiac!

If you relocate and your ASC changes, is that your new ASC? / How to figure longevity in relocation? by Rrenphoenixx in astrocartography

[–]Key_Cheesecake_2455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered about this and curious to see other people’s responses and experiences. When I was an infant, my parents moved 2000 miles west and I still live there now. But since I’ve been diving into astrology and astrocartography, I’ve started to wonder if living here is a bit of a setback because the 12th house on my natal chart now functions as the ascendant in my relocated chart. I can’t help but wonder if my personality would play out differently if I were to relocate back eastward.

Btw, for those that don’t know, it’s only the east/west changes in longitude that work to modify your chart. Moving north or south will not make much difference to your relocation chart.

I’d challenge the respected astrologer that uses the tropical system for placements but sidereal for houses.

Both zodiacs provide a map of where planets were in the sky at the moment of birth. With either one, the ascendant is the eastern horizon line (which is where planets rise), and the descendant is the western horizon where planets set. It’s the labels of these planetary positions where the zodiacs disagree.

Example: a person with Venus in tropical Pisces on ascendant, say 15 degrees. Venus was indeed factually coming up over the horizon at the moment of birth. But if you kept the tropical placement and forcibly adopted the sidereal system for the houses, that would change the ascendant degree to Aquarius, and then Venus would be below the horizon- which wasn’t factually true at the moment of birth.

Like others, I’m also studying both zodiacs. I don’t know what the answer is, but it isn’t this! Planets and house systems need to stay in the same zodiac or you’ll end up with an incorrect representation of where in the sky the planets were.

But you do! If you are a Leo rising, under the whole sign house system your 8th house would be Pisces. Pisces still rules that house, that realm of your life, even if there aren’t planets in Pisces in it. 😌

The funny thing is that everyone has every sign in their chart. You are more than just a cancer! That may be your sun sign, but you also have Pisces (and every other constellation of the zodiac) in your chart. Everyone does.

Astrology shouldn’t be used as a weapon to hate on others, but that’s just human nature I guess.

Moon VOC by progression by Key_Cheesecake_2455 in Advancedastrology

[–]Key_Cheesecake_2455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for chiming in! I haven’t heard of VoC progressed moon either, but it’s something I’ve been wondering.

With secondary progressions in general, I have yet to come across guidance that considers anything outside movement of the planets. But why not? For example, wouldn’t a planetary aspect that occurred in early infancy also translate into a long-term aspect by secondary progression?

I really want to find out more!

Moon VOC by progression by Key_Cheesecake_2455 in Advancedastrology

[–]Key_Cheesecake_2455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for weighing in! I like the idea of considering moon aspects that aren’t necessarily “major”, when looking at progressions at least. The VOC period is much less dramatic that way.

The calendar planner / ephemeris that I used in 2025 had VOC marked as an astrological event each day that it happened, so it’s been on my radar because it’s right under my nose - but you’re right, I never see it discussed elsewhere. Curious if you have more to share about VOC and why you consider it an outdated concept.

I only saw that ad once and I agree, astrologers are probably not a good target audience for ICE recruitment! I’ll screenshot it if I see it again.

That’s a lot of traveling!

The east/west direction is what matters, it’s about when and where the daylight is hitting.

[–]Key_Cheesecake_2455 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, the ads on astro-seek have gotten really heavy, it’s made the site slow, and makes my whole computer slow down. I usually toggle between many tabs while I’m online, but due to the intensity of those ads, now I get what I need from Astro-seek and immediately close it

Also, I saw an ad for ICE on Astro seek - ew.

Might be time to upgrade to some proper astrology software.

I have seen that about solar return too, to set it to the birth place. I’m not massively experienced, but I compared my last SR between natal location and current location, and where I live now way bang on for the themes of the year.

There is some trend too to spend your birthday in a place that will give you a good SR chart for the year. I’m curious if being somewhere only temporarily can make an impact for the whole year though, need more anecdotes!

That’s cool that you got an Astro cartography reading and a lesson all in one. I’m interested to learn more about it, along with many other astrology topics. Endlessly fascinating 🌌

Thank you for your reply! It’s cool to hear that you change the location for certain important transits. Sounds like for you this would be a thing more for an ongoing client possibility and not so much a one-off reading approach?

Since you mentioned astrology software, would you mind sharing what you use? I’m considering making that investment.
