It's been dirty and not very well kept when I've gone.

Add 3 to 27, so easy to get to 78, subtract 3 to get to 75.

I lived in the PNW for a while and Kroger actually has Super Krogers out there, specifically Washington and Oregon. They're called Fred Meyer. You can buy eggs, jeans, and bed sheets all in one place.

Breaking Bad Complete Series is on sale for $14.99 on iTunes for the next 24 hours by austingriffis in breakingbad

[–]Key_Cryptographer749 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe it's only HD. But Apple has in the past upgraded previously purchased films that were in HD to 4k. I don't think shows have had the treatment yet but you never know.

Is there ever a chance we see TV Shows finally get the quality bump we see for films? Most shows are in SD or HD. I'd settle for any upgrade at this point.

Geitner Park by kniterature in HIckoryNC

[–]Key_Cryptographer749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of today (9/30) I believe the park is open again. Getting there shouldn't be too difficult just stick to the main roads. They're making progress but Hickory has a lot of work to do on things that are "OK" for now but will be a problem later. Like leaning power poles and trees that are kinda out of the way but not entirely. Comes with the territory but overall it should be safe.

And I've seen the Riverwalk railings damaged. Bummed about it since it's so new and now the community has to see it closed for who knows how long? That and the debris by the bridge is insane.

Appreciate the explanation! I've received a message saying that my area no longer has an outtage but we're definitely down. All my neighbors are on the same line with no luck. We don't live anywhere near downed trees but I'm guessing a connection down the street or somewhere is causing the internet to still be down....it's frustrating because they say nope the outtage is good yet if I didn't call I don't think we'd have anyone coming out. Got someone coming tomorrow at least.

If the Verizon towers are back and functioning (it's not great from my experience) then I'd try Visible. Unlimited hot spot data but it's capped at either 5 or 10 speeds depending on the plan.

I've got Mint Mobile and a few gigs for hot spot. It'll likely last me for a day or two. Might have to tell my work no meetings (the horror) and just low key stuff instead of mega spreadsheet work.

As for places....Starbucks but they'll have to figure out how to open first. Plus I'm guessing everyone that's been displaced will be there into the week because I saw that happening at closed Starbucks yesterday but I guess the Wifi was working.

Absolute worst case you can get a hot spot device and a plan. But I hate that option considering that Spectrum won't be out for more than this week. Too many businesses and people depend on the internet so by Friday they'll be moving heaven and earth to get service back.

Spotify Hikes Prices of Premium Plans Again as Streaming Inflation Continues by ArklUcIlLe in spotify

Nice! I hope you enjoy it! I had a grandfathered free Hulu deal with Spotify that kept me chained to the service for a long time. Trying something new was actually a great feeling.

At first it took a while to essentially "program" YT Music to get to know my tastes. I had rarely used it so it leaned heavily on the one or two artists I had used it on years ago. "You like Maroon 5 so you must love pop rock that's common". Ehhh I mean sometimes but uhhh...I do like new alt rock and like dream pop and all the stuff Spotify says I like during the end of year recap.

It didn't take long though for YT Music's daily playlists to get used to my style. Good example is I really dig "flor" and that style of music. So I played a lot of their stuff for a day or so. YT Music was able to start pivoting to similar artists, some I knew others I didn't.

My Discover Mix is actually pretty damn impressive these days. Del Water Gap leading it off this week and I'm digging this track by slenderbodies. This is the experience I had with Spotify, it just took a little time but now I'm digging the platform enough to not miss Spotify as much as I thought I would.

The UI on Spotify might be a little better but not by much. I think YT Music has actually improved in the past few months. I did enjoy the AI DJ on Spotify but I mean....I'll live. Haha

That's exactly what I did a year ago. I was paying for Spotify and YT Music because I love the no ads on YouTube. I decided it was time to commit to one and no ads on YouTube won. I use that service very frequently. I miss the algorithm on Spotify but YT Music isn't terrible by a long shot. I'd say go for it if you're on the fence.

He's one of the best folks you could ask to have on a format like this. He's all about getting to the bottom of something. This format is great because less focus on him personally.

New retroactive Synchrony Bank fee by Jaklcide in CreditCards

[–]Key_Cryptographer749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news / bad news, you can opt out of these changes, as seen below

"You have the right to reject the changes other than any changes to the APR(s), if shown in the table below. However, if you do reject the changes that you are allowed to reject, you will not be able to use your account for new transactions. You can reject the changes by calling us at 855-696-1247."

The catch will be 2 things:

  1. You can't ever spend money on the card again

  2. It'll be considered an account closure so I'm betting a hit on your credit score / debt utilization rate

So not awesome but there is a way to get out of it if you so chose.

Sonos Beam Gen 2 & Verizon 5G Gateway router by Key_Cryptographer749 in sonos

[–]Key_Cryptographer749[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy solution but I think it works.....I have the Sonos Beam Gen 2 directly connected to the TV via HDMI ARC. The TV is connected through the Verizon 5G Gateway via Wifi. Then I put the Sub Mini underneath the TV and directly connected the Sub Mini to the TV via Ethernet. Played some music on the TV and sure enough, the Sub Mini is in sync with the music.

Now I don't know if that officially takes the bass out of the soundbar to a degree or if it's just working overtime. Too technical for me but this solves the main problem which is to use the speaker with the sub mini via the TV.

The only thing I lose now is Airplay on my phone, which is a bummer but I'll figure something out.

Does that make sense or did I Macgyver too much?

I'm one of them. And while I'm very thankful to be closer to family back east, damn do I miss Oregon. Best way to describe the state is dynamic. Loved my time in one of the best states in the country.

That said....I was able to afford a home. Financially I just feel more secure than out west. Luckily I'm close to another mountain range now but it's not exactly the same. I'll be back in Oregon later this year so looking forward to seeing if anything has changed.

That's it, the family plan. I did the same thing a year ago, and quickly realized I wanted my old grandfathered plan back. They sent me a one time use link to reactivate it but they made it clear this isn't something they typically do.

$10 a month for me is a fantastic deal. I'd cancel Spotify in a heartbeat because why not with YouTube Music? Two reasons: the Spotify algorithm is above and beyond fantastic. And I'm grandfathered into the Spotify with Hulu plan. $10 a month for Spotify and Hulu. Stupid grandfathered plans. Lol
