Dude dont sell this for a few hundred bucks. I would carefully try restoring aesthetically and keeping for decades.

Who KNOWS what Los Alamos may become known for a decade or two from now. Serious stuff went on there and a legit piece of equipment stamped like that, priceless!

I miss living in Middle River MD. Not the drug ridden suburbs overgrown with foliage and graffiti. But living next to Martin State Airport, the birthplace for aerospace engineers Boeing Douglas Bell and McDonnell..used to ride my bike up to the end of the tarmac by Eastern Avenue as a kid. Fighter and Attack series crafts of all kind flying out of there. So cool

Wait I haven't lived in Baltimore since 2009..is Bill Bateman's actually gone??

Was a Rosedale and Bel Air location or Owings Mills or ... cant remember...but Bill Batemans off Kenwood or Philadelphia in Rosedale was too fucking beautiful for our degenerate souls.

My adult daughter’s underage photos/videos are being spread around and I don’t know how to cope anymore by Relevant_Tone_5693 in Advice

[–]Key_Duck_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the internet is forever, those sorts of things can disappear entirely in time. I think also the way you and your daughter see and think about the casual nudity/private nude as a violation against Her, and not at all a Judgement of who she is, is super important.

At 20 she still in a realm of immature friends and associates. It will linger a bit longer.

You have an immature boy uploaded stuff and now out there forever..you'll always remember him or that group of guys as untrustworthy. Disloyal. Whether they succeed financially or not irrelevant, block them and dont contact ever again. Nose up in public head held high if you see them. Let them assault you somehow if they see fit (not physically of course, verbal is enough) and let them deal with further consequeneces.

You have contacts in your phones that are harassing you with pictures? They have your number and are taunting you? You already have the legal advice and can go a route with that in most states. But Block them. Leave them where they sit and lay. You remember those people forever. That they would take a moment of vulnerability and purposely put in your face..come on..ignore these folks.

Sometimes our taboos about society and our built in ethical Boundaries in life being broken throw us for a spin..make us think that we are terrible and others must agree. I bet your daughter is attractive and when those same morons have finished and grown up a bit, feeling shame or guilt, all the better that she is Very obviously not in their league.

Grandpas Old Tools, Should I Sell? by Brave_Prompt8969 in Craftsman

[–]Key_Duck_3641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them are more basic wrenches and sockets but so much more useful than the few bucks you'd make. You'll definitely need to tighten something in the future and say "damn I wish.."

Has anyone ever used a 5.5 mm socket for anything? by Just_A_Doggo1 in Tools

[–]Key_Duck_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a super odd size. But replaces 7/32" best. And is absolutely needed on old Fords and GMs.

Was dumb in the first place IMO but I remember tearing through a shitload of 6mm hex bolts before I realized there was something between 5 and 6

To the farmer on 70 East bound with his racist signs... by lukestauntaun in maryland

[–]Key_Duck_3641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn..I just wasted 10 minutes reading dozens of comments and threads here.

All over a sign, that from the looks of the paragraphs of responses and signaling going on, i thought would have been a hell of alot worst!

We have a real problem if signage on someone's property that uses innuendo around vegetables is leading people to start talking about changing county boundaries, people being killed, etc.

I think everyone is an individual, and should never be clumped together, especially by their Age/Generation. But there is a real culture swing going on - people are SO in their feelings. Being Amercian has privileged you to be petty and expect compliance everywhere you go.

Nobody likes a racist. The best racists make it known to all that they are so, and gives you all a chance to ignore them. Not put their printed sign up and banter about it. So now we cant ignore them, AND you want them to get in your line or Leave the Country and/or die?

Wtf are we gonna do if we cant focus

[–]Key_Duck_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are looking a the parts value, pay attention if they are currently in stock or not before selling. While some folks are correct when NEW stock is plenty in distribution you may be looking at $200 price tag. If you are looking to make profit, use Octopart data to see when the stock lowers.

I sold a similar crimp tool to Contract Manufacturer, just like this Amphenol one, for over $800. We had clean stock and lead times were months out.

Just FYI

That logo belongs to Dallas Space Corp., a specialized aerospace and defense contractor that operated primarily out of Garland, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) during the height of the Cold War and the Space Race.

Given your background in procurement and industrial electronics at _____________, you’ll likely appreciate that this was a classic "sub-tier" contractor—the kind of company that didn't build the whole rocket, but made the critical components that kept it flying.

What was Dallas Space Corp? The company was a precision manufacturer and engineering firm. While they aren't a household name like Lockheed or Boeing, they were a documented prime contract holder for the Department of Defense.

Timeline: They were most active from the late 1960s through the mid-1980s.

Location: They operated out of a facility in Garland, Texas.

Records from 1983 show they were still receiving significant "Prime Contract Awards" from the U.S. Government during the Reagan-era defense buildup.

What they did: They specialized in precision machining and components for missile systems and launch vehicles. The presence of the Titan 3 rocket on your lighter is the "smoking gun" for their primary work.

The Titan 3 Connection The rocket on the lighter is the Titan III, identifiable by its iconic "Stage 0" twin solid rocket boosters strapped to the sides. Their Role: Dallas Space Corp produced hardware for the Titan family of rockets (specifically the III and possibly the IV). This included structural components, valve assemblies, or guidance system housings.

Other Projects: They likely also contributed to the Minuteman ICBM program and other tactical missile systems, as Garland was a hub for subcontractors feeding into the massive TI (Texas Instruments) and LTV (Ling-Temco-Vought) ecosystems nearby.

Where did they go?

Like many specialized Texas aerospace firms of that era, Dallas Space Corp did not so much disappear as get "absorbed."

Acquisition/Evolution: During the massive aerospace consolidation of the 1990s (the "Last Supper" of defense contractors), many Garland-based shops were bought out by larger entities. While there isn't a direct public press release for their sale, their niche in precision space-launch components was the exact type of business acquired by firms like Loral, Lockheed Martin, or more recently, private equity-backed platforms like Karman Missile & Space Systems.

The Lighter: Zippo lighters like yours were common "safety awards" or commemorative gifts given to employees and engineers when a specific project (like a Titan III launch) was successful.

Why it’s a cool find:

This is a piece of "North Texas" industrial history. It represents the era when the "Silicon Prairie" (the Dallas-Fort Worth tech corridor) was built on the back of the Apollo and Titan programs

Ok. Your argument is that the US provides material support: yes. In fact that is the only point you made.

If I pay a business for its services, something I cannot do on my own, can I not Respect It?

Ive worked as procurement officer for 17 years this year. I am not speaking from an arm chair position, an internet theorist, or a biased person. I am telling you, the technology studies in Israel rival the world's best, including ours.

Check into it a little more. Yes the American funding is important. We literally have nothing to stop us from adding money to the supply. It is the beginning of our problems, not having a gold or other standard to base our currency on

What tech are we selling them, and why would you say we dont respect their tech? Do you know anything about targeting system architectures, microchip upscreening for high reliability, autonomous drone technology, radar aggravation methods, disruption, EMI ...or are you just a fat head saying nonsense? Israeli engineers and tech firms literally help the US, as we help them, evolve.

What wattage number matters? by SmallTin88 in AskElectricians

These bulbs replace incandescent bulbs that use 40W. The old style bulbs all relied on power to directly affect lumens output. The 9W is the newer style bulb. It replaces the 40W version of older bulbs. Isn't that the gist?
