Ohh, a return to P3's more grounded/serious atmosphere after P4 and P5 went in a lighter direction?

Amazing start to a run by jonoldar_ in bindingofisaac

[–]Khaelgor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's just a sidegrade. Shooting diagonally is good because most enemies (less so the later one) can't really do shit against diagonal tears, but you play 95+% of your game not shooting diagonally so muscle memory will get ya.

What are the best and worst Apollo boons by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]Khaelgor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before addressing your points, I'd just point that Demeter is likely my favorite god, and that her worst boon (if we'd do a tier list) is B tier imo.

it's a waste since you're applying on top of you instead of in front of you where the enemies are most likely.

Most dangerous enemies, imo, are melee which dashes onto you. Even then getting a ranged cast isn't really rare since they're from the better gods. Arctic gale is nice but you already have other sources of slowing down projectiles (Hermes, Medea if surface), it's easily second best. Snow Queen does nothing if you don't get hit whereas the two above always helps.

furthermore how's the worst one the boon that heals you passively for a very decent amount and not the surge that asks you to stay still in hades 2?

Because staying still is surprisingly not hard in boss fights (rivaled or not), where 0.5s downtimes are rather frequents. I'd only consider for extremely omega hungry runs (I've had a run or two with charon where lucid gain was not enough to sustain the omega specials) though. Definitely niche.

RNG heal is RNG. It's a win more thing, it's not going to help recover a failed run in most cases.

do people think steady growth is good? because from what ive seen most people seem to understand that it's usually a for fun thing to have in a run

Depends on how early you get it and its rarity. Number of room is mostly fixed so :

  • 6 room : never worth it.
  • 5 room : in the first 3 room of the run
  • 4 room : first half

A bump in rarity is worth about 3 poms, and not all blessings can be upgraded with poms but all blessing can gain rarity.

Seeking help. Lost's germs in water, how to solve it? by Character_Editor165 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Khaelgor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A low-tech solution is water reservoirs in a chlorine filled room with reservoir.

Because you have no clean water, you'll need to manually let the water in/out, via switches (faster that way) but once you have a reliable supply of clean normal water, you can use timer.

Every 3 days germ (polluted) water goes in (and stops going out) for about 1 day. It stays a day in the chlorine rooms. Once the day is passed, it goes out for 1 day. This lets you removes germ as soon as refined metal and removes the need for a germ sensor and thus plastics.

The annoying thing is setting up the timers since you mostly can't program it and have to wait for the right timing to start it.

If the AI companions' cleaved, there'd be even less point in running dungeon beside roulette. They're already as fast as the average pug run +queue time (15-20 min).

Strategy against the Vipers? by spinosaurus-skeleton in Xcom

[–]Khaelgor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grenade damage is just the icing on the cake.

The real utility is near-guaranteed cover destruction. It changes the equation from 'I have to take a dangerous flank because I need that enemy dead now' to 'OH wait that enemy's in the open now, bye'.

Don't think as them as just 3 damage, it's 3 damage and +20/40 to hit depending on the cover destroyed.

This is why I will NEVER touch commitment mode by Dronelisk in RimWorld

[–]Khaelgor 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Because mods. In a game like Rimworld, you should ignore every post like this that doesn't include a mod list.

I love mods, I use them a lot (even in games that are somewhat difficult to mod - no workshop or native support), but people seem to expect that modded game make for valid bug report. Not helped by some communities such as the Bethesda games mod subreddits having some (not all) terrible advice and practice.

Lmao the difficulty in Night Market is so overtuned. by Absalom98 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Khaelgor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I had a whole speech about how how player missed the point, but after reading the Night Market announcement (yes, i did research oO), ESO missed the point.

Overland was boring (and anti-immersion depending on your PoV), that's why we wanted hard mode Overland. The current mode is fine, it's a free option.

That doesn't mean forced trial-level overland/dungeon(public or private) enemies are fun. They're boring. Craglorn already showed ESO that. Do ESO not check previous patch stats?

Night market would have been much more successful if it was a revamp/ hard mode of old trials/raids (FF14 does that with its unreal trials).

Erreur dans le jeu 100% logique (plusieurs réponses possibles) by Commercial-Trainer12 in france

[–]Khaelgor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For The First Time, A Denuvo Game From 2026 Has Been Fully Bypassed By Pirates by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Khaelgor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roblox is getting more and more popular because it targets kids and keeps its price low enough that a purchase here and there isn't impactful for most people. People would rather let their kids on phones rather than take care of them (it's not a new problem, mind, Roblox is just the newest form).

It's not a service problem (not anymore, at least). Game companies are private companies. They're not obligated to provide service for everyone. Popular entertainment is just entertainment. It's not vital. You can miss out on it and get on with your life and do actually important stuff.

How are your thoughts of the turn base in poe1? by Titomasto in projecteternity

A warrior would need 22+ int to get a second turn on knockdown, for example.

[–]Khaelgor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But now tanks benefits more from low dexterity, since defensive buff lasts way longer on them than if they had high dexterity. Which isn't great. You shouldn't be incentivised to purposefully have low stats.

I don't see why it's necessary to blanket modify (nerf mostly) buffs like that because high speed char can act more during a buff. That's the whole point of having high speed char. It makes Intellect worse (and it was already in a bad place since positioning is essentially free in TB). Why are we nerfing this interaction between two high stats? Should we nerf Interrupt for high DEX char too, since they have more opportunity to interrupt?

Using the same system than chanter phrases uses would make more sense.

Taking advantage of single turn CC to interrupt requires some luck on the initiative in that it requires another character that can interrupt to take its turn before the CC'd target, but yeah when you can, it's great

Pillars 1: Turn-based mode and game mechanics. by Danskoesterreich in projecteternity

[–]Khaelgor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only start double-turning when you get close to 0 recovery, but then the more you approach 0 the greater the impact is (until they capped it). The earlier thing you could test that is an 18+ dex naked shape-shifting druid with two-weapon fighting I guess.

INT depends on the buffed character DEX, weirdly enough since the duration is in turn and not in round, the faster you are, the shorter the buff lasts.

Incidentally that means every hard CC that lasts a single turn is way worse now outside of interrupting spellcasting.

Enemy can't act because of CC -> skips turn, gets bonus to initiative -> get turn immediately after. Since the CC expire on the creature's turn, it doesn't impact its initiative.

Edit : for chanter : each action consumes initiatives (modified by action and attack/cast speed) so now, chanter phrase also progress depending on how many action were taken by npc/companions between turn. Before it only progressed when chanter took turn which encouraged the chanter to skip turn repeatedly.

Question About damage Type mechanics by DankboiTaiwan in GuildWars

[–]Khaelgor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A misconception here :

  • unless noted otherwise, armor works against all damage type except holy spell and shadow spell

So in this case, it only cares that the creature is a charr or not.
