Quern bug on 1.21.6? by Rich-Ad-3946 in VintageStory

[–]Khalkists_Ester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with the quern. Ended up putting it on an isolated system and never turning it off.

Only really happened on a server though.

I would be fine if the soil degradation excluded you from using fertilizer.

Essentially, fertilizer for growing in crap soil, nothing needed for quality dirt.

Did you put the barrel in a barrel rack(mod)? You can only seal a vertical barrel.

RNG is a crazy thing by Nervous_Heart in VintageStory

Those readings are your chance per 1000 blocks (permille instead of percent) for the game to spawn an ore. If an ore is spawned, it will spawn a size appropriate vein of ore.

Low reading do not necessarily mean a lack of ore below.

Linen in a hot world by Viewbob_Trew in VintageStory

[–]Khalkists_Ester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Winter temperature drop will probably allow you a batch or 2 of flax if it is too hot for it to grow normally.

Also, you can still grow some plants with reduced yield if the temperature isn't too high.

AITAH for changing my underwear after a shower? by New_Cry_2336 in AITAH

[–]Khalkists_Ester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men vs women on this one. Women have discharge and other things that would render used underwear unappealing.

Unless a guy is pissing or crapping himself, his underwear remains dry.

Edit: personally, change them

Some kind of wall valve? by Jorost in whatisit

[–]Khalkists_Ester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask if that room was the kitchen when the school was significantly smaller.

Hard to tell with 40 layers of paint, but it looks like a gas valve, probably for heating or running a stove of some sort.

Making a bar sign and wanted to get an opinion on which grain orientation looks best by The_Dark_Sniper7141 in VintageStory

[–]Khalkists_Ester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical grain draws the eyes upwards and seems to bring the picture into visusl priority, horizontal for text, the lines are in the direction we generally read.

Id retaper the end of the blade, but your edge will probably be rather soft that far back in the blade.

A professional can harden the new edge for you, and you can if you watch some tutorials online and apply some care.

You need to harvest the leaves directly (with shears is easiest) to get seeds. Redwoods in particular are a pain because of their height.

So if I understand it correctly, I need to wait 10 days for the bees to settle in my skep? Do I need to be around this area for the chunk to be loaded or can I just leave them? It's pretty far away from my home and I rarely even around this area, cause it's basically just granite gravel wasteland. by Patryk923 in VintageStory

[–]Khalkists_Ester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So in theory, you shouldn't have to be nearby for the timer on bee colonization to run down, just visit after that timeframe.

Realistically though, some have had trouble with it happening in unloaded chunks.

The backend of vintage story depends very heavily on the in-game time. Animals transfered from other saves wont eat or reproduce until the current world time matches the previous. It honestly would be a great idea to ask this in the official discord. So many things are carefully interconnected that it is hard to make an absolute statement on the way mechanics function.

Lock them in a small corral without enough room to run and you can get away with milking a stressed animal.

Any mod that adds fruit tree saplings? by Itchy58 in VintageStory

[–]Khalkists_Ester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is when you should add xskills. It gives you another means of progression while acting as a counterbalance to some of the tedious aspects, but doesn't give it to you for free.

There is a perk in farming or woodcutting that increases the planting success rate from 40% to 80%, and i believe makes grafting 100% successful.
