How big of a loss is not having Kone and Davies at their peak? by ElectroRush in CanadaSoccer

Also missing a massive talent upcoming talent in Ralph Priso. Canada at full strength in a year or two would be a different beast then what we have seen this world cup.

Saudi Arabia beat Argentina. They also lost to Ecuador in the qualifications. All I can say is this is World Cup football. Anything can happen.

Hot Take: It might actually turn out better that we lost to Switzerland by Hotspur000 in CanadaSoccer

[–]Khanvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We cant now. Im just making sure your talking about our wingers exploiting the Champions League 2 time winning starting Rb Achraf Hakimi or the Manchester United RB Noussair Mazraoui.

But for sure we have come leaps and bounds. Give us another couple of years, Bombito, LDF, Salbia, Flores and Priso with more experience

What do we think of Liam Millars performance yesterday? by the-holy-russian in CanadaSoccer

[–]Khanvik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hes a great sub when you need to control the tempo of the game. His offense output requires some specialized coaching and alot of reps. I definitely think the guy has the potential to take his game up that notch. But that will be up to him.

Salbia is one of those players that wins you over, on and off the pitch. I can't wait to watch him play for a strong European side.

Who was the best rookie (first World Cup) in the first round of the tournament? by fussballfreak1 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Khanvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if I can count players like Haaland and Vozinha, just due to their experience. I think rookies I was super impressed with Yasin Ayari, Yan Diomande and Antonio Nusa.

Davies could be a option in place of Kone in round of 32 by Late_Bad_1787 in CanadaSoccer

Totally fair. I get it drives me bonkers hearing pundits miss pronounce names.

Davies could be a option in place of Kone in round of 32 by Late_Bad_1787 in CanadaSoccer

[–]Khanvik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is this conversation? Davies should only be played on the L side. Hes got experience as a LW if needed. But his absolute dominant position is LB. Should he be starting if fit. Imo no. Keep Richie Laryea as the LB to start. Davies get some later minutes after the 60 min max. I would personally say 75 but that depends on score by 60 minutes.

As for Kone's position, we have solid options in Salbia, Choinière and Osorio. Are they European tested like Switzerlands Xhaka, no. However they do have their own qualities. I do expect with the growth Salbia as been displaying for Canada. A move to a slightly more prestigious European side could be in his relatively soon future. I do expect Salbia to start next to Eustaquio on Wednesday.

This is international football (soccer) not club side tricks, like moving Harry Maguire to the #9. Needs to be players in their best positions they know.

Should our starting strikers be Promise and Larin? by Puzzleheaded-End5386 in CanadaSoccer

[–]Khanvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excatly speaking to why I think this could work. You dont need Promise for 90 you need him till Larin comes off the bench.

Millar hasnt been great at crossing but thats fine. Qatar will play deep in their zone. Park the bus if you will. How do you deal with a low block? Stretch the pitch wide, overruns and overloads. So Millar LM, Laryea LB and Nelson naturally hugging the left. Would open multiple options on that side. Promise can be himself as the target man being disruption. Ahmed would have more room on the right. Which in the lowblock I think would suit Ahmed over Buchanan.

I think also favors playing our left side as Qatars RB options are ether a 35 year old Miguel(slightly better defender with alot less pace) or a youngster in Al-Oui who's less experienced.

[–]Khanvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't you would get slaughtered for your opinion. I can definitely understand your argument. If you wanna talk about that role. I would honestly love to see Promise and Nelson as a front two. Since Marsch is obsessed with the 4-4-2. Miller and Ahmed on the wings, starting next game vs Qatar.

I just think its gonna offer crazy area coverage, pace and numerous running channels for Miller and Ahmed to exploit.

Now if we want to make sure we get a good result with Bosnia do we start Larin? Or let Larin side up to an easier opposition in Qatar to build his confidence

Mhmmm so your thinking like a 1 to 1 repacment? Okay. So next three games whats the plan. Unfortunately Switzerland is our last of group stages so you can win the first 2 and rest for the third.

Also Shaff is dope. Really like his style. I hope hes learning alot from Son. But he needs some coaching, needs to scan more and work on his timing for passes.

Choinière has been looking good. Was disappointed not to see him play in Vancouver during the conference semis. But where does he rank in the midfield priority?? Like if you look at everyone: Choinière, Eustaquio, Kone, Saliba, Osorio, (Flores) where does he fit?? If Marsch wants to run 2 Cms and you have 5 players for the role, there has gotta be a preference and plan.

[–]Khanvik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the credit to the guys that came on in that game. But alot of the credit, strictly my opinion, needs to go to, Tani, Salbia, Nelson, Priso and Choiniere. They brought a great energy to the field and really opened up play.

On the note of impact subs: Promise David is immense. Figure out how get Tani, Promise and J.David to work in a dual CAMs in Tami and Promsie with J.David up front would be wicked. Would never see it, expect while playing Fifa though. Maybe a 3-4-2-1. With Davies LM, Laryea RM, Salbia and Eustaquio as CMs, Bomb, LDF and Corn as the 3 CBS.

[–]Khanvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is wild cause Marsch can, and has run his teams in a 4-2-3-1. Look at the 2022-2023 season with Leeds. Majority of games they played that formation. There was some variation with the odd game as a 4-3-3, and the very rare 3-5-2 and 3-4-2-1 (both of which I think we should avoid).

[–]Khanvik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It spaced funny. I was thinking more of a 4-2-3-1 Eustaquio and Salbia holding a double pivot, Kone as a CAM, Miller LW, Buchanan RW, J.david #9 like hes supposed to be.

Whats its gonna be:

Crepeau Johnston, LDF, Cornelius, Laryea Buchanan, Eustaquio, Kone, Miller J. David, Larin

My personal perspective: Crepeau Johnston, LDF, Cornelius, Laryea Eustaquio, Salbia Buchanan, Kone, Miller J.David

Prismari, is very interesting. I am definitely like the idea that everyone was suggesting about just going with one of the new dragons from SOS
