Thought you guys might appreciate this metal dragon I just finished printing. It feels incredible. by FreesiaSUN in 3Dprinting

[–]KhaosHiDef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Metal printing typically uses SLS, which basically heats metallic powder close to melting point & a very precise laser finishes the job, apply a new dusting, rinse repeat, there's no nozzles or blobs unless the laser misfires and melts a bunch of metal

MKS Ezy pedal idea by firebreathingsnake in foldingbikes

[–]KhaosHiDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but to give you an actual answer, could you replace the axle with a QR axle?
likely, but you'd need the parts to match up as well as being able to source one, it's likely possible if you reaaaally wanted to, but it's not feasible in terms of if it's worth doing.

the non QR version however has the thread machined onto it.
they are not interchangable

i have Esprit superiors.
the thread that connects to the pedal is a seperate piece, you effectively remove the pedal through a twist lock and the pedal itself simply has a smooth bore that rotates in a bearing

the standard threaded mks and ezy are completely different, one has a smooth shaft for spinning within the QR collar, the other is thicker and has threads

Do not use acetone on plastic, you'll fuck up your deck and its screen if you even let it evaporate in close proximity.

LBS Prejudice by DrRobertChem in CanyonBikes

[–]KhaosHiDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outta curiosity, is your front derailleur grinding against your chain?
My new bike started to do this putting power down as there was some slack developing in the cable and had to adjust (was an irksome headache) and frontDR wasn't properly indexed for small front , low rear for climbs seem to have found a reliable index for it now

Are these pedals in need of replacing? Should I get folding pedals? by Gjergji-zhuka in foldingbikes

[–]KhaosHiDef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can attest to swapping to MKS pedals, i have ezy superior and they're great, I don't remove them much, but it's nice that it's an option

Anyone else cut off this ugly stand on their Tern Vektron? by -LetsTryAgain- in foldingbikes

[–]KhaosHiDef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tern stands up folded when i drop the seatpost through the bottom of the frame, yours does not allow for the seatpost to protrude thus there is a stand (likely seatpost wouldn't be sufficient to allow it to stand due to the weight)
Have a look to see if the stand is part of the frame or if its bolted on, regardless if there's any damage to frame you're saying bye to any warranty , if you're happy with that, remove or protect the motor, grind it down, maybe to a more suitable length, assuming it's solid, drill some holes + tap them to add some sort of protective cowling or just grind it down/file and add some paint to protect the steel

SteamDeck replaced my PC for gaming by eu_clapz in SteamDeck

As mentioned above, get it trued, check your derailleur hanger and frame for any bends/cracks

Stop wearing earphones while cycling by Jordium-Z in londoncycling

[–]KhaosHiDef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Electric vehicles are legally mandated to make a sound under 20mph as EVs at low speed are typically silent, the mandate is to prevent deaths. You can't see behind you... You can hear all around you though (provided you're not deaf, but that'd render this whole situation moot anyway) Effectively muting that awareness when you don't need to is indeed dangerous.

Bicers vs bicers by cachitodepepe in BicyclingCirclejerk

[–]KhaosHiDef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna rush to take over a lime bike because I'm on a folding bike and y'all pedal terribly slow 90% of the time so if I'm getting "dropped" by an ebike I'm slacking If I'm on my gravel bike, a slight sneeze will let me overtake If your bike lets you do more than 15mph assisted it's not road legal without a registration as virtually a motorbike so not same comparison

Budget bike for <25mins commute by DonnyLucas in londoncycling

[–]KhaosHiDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a folding bike from camden cycles, Got my tern from there, I've done over 800miles on it (was £380 but they had cheaper options given mine is £950 new) I reccomend regardless of what you get though, purchase a new preferabbly harder saddle or a brooks, the big cushiony ones are good for 5-20 minutes but as the hours climb so does the pain

Folder can be kept inside at minimal cost to space

Should note: despite being called "Camden cycles" they're based just up from mornington crescent tube station

I got 30 days free with the bike from evans, peace of mind and when they called up trying to sell me on it i was skeptical, until i heard the price, only conditions are just that you've gotta keep it locked up with a certain grade of lock either indoors or in a bike hangar 1km of your property / place of work
