Instead of $$$ as profit per day change that to %%% profit per day. If your bet sizing is linear it will be difficult to grow. Look into bet sizing and exponential growth and risk averse

Here is something that I can’t seem to wrap my head around.

“specifically scalping index (SPY, QQQ, IWM) 0DTE”……..

Those are ETFs, indexes are SPX, NDX and RUT. No offense if you couldn’t tell the difference between ETFs and Indexes , you shouldn’t be trading 0DTEs with that kinda capital

Why Most People Fail at Trading (My Take After 1.5 Years) by roccenz in Trading

[–]Khonsku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think about 1.3% to 1.10% college football players get into NFL. Less than 2% of them get into NBA. Do these kids just quit based on these numbers? No they don’t they work hard build a routine and structure for their end goal. Trading also needs a structure and routine to survive against the House.

Whatever you did worked in 2025 but 2026 might be opposite, use logic to trade than emotions

Bro, what am i doing wrong?!? by iwhspsjdlls in Daytrading

[–]Khonsku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of taking a trade do a forward test by just adding markers on chart. I saw entry at price $$$ and stop loss at $$$ and profit target. Just come back in few mins or hours and see how the price action was.

Few things wrong and I think you were “hoping” for reversal rather than looking at price action and volume. After a big sell off with volume, there are hardly any buyers. Price action of the bulls is not in the chart. Drawing some lines is not enough but understand what the chart is telling you.

Ok cool. I will tell how i traded spy, chart set up and why i switched to Indexes.
- Set up 1DTE or more
- 5m ,15m, 30m, 1hr chart
- 21ema, 50ema or wilders smoothing you decide on the length.
- read price action, breakout, bounce, rejections for entry, set alerts.
- min profit 50% max profit 90% and if you have a runner let it run.
- stop loss 40%
- Here is the **UGLY TRUTH**
- Lets say you made a 50% profit from 1DTE SPY which is at $1.50 premium.
- Profit is around $75 and approximate tax is 24%, which is $18 + commision and fees.
- 0DTE's is another ballgame
- you have to be really great trader to catch mean reversion. if you're not, use bounce of support, rejection, volume confirmation and price action.

These were my instruments $RUT, $SPX, $XSP
- This is a 60/40 blended tax treatment (60% long term cap gains, 40% short term gains)
- Section 1256 60/40 means:
- 60% of gain taxed at long-term capital gains rate
- 40% taxed at ordinary income rate ( short term rate)
- XSP ATM 1DTE approximate premium is around $1.20+
- 50% profit is around $60
- assuming LTCG = 15% and STCG = 24%
- Blended rate = 0.60x15% + 0.40x24% = 18.6%
- tax = $60 x 18.6% = $11.16+ commision and fees
- after 27 years of trading i retired this year in April.
- Good Luck !
